Alright I think it is time to start my Daemon P.Log. Having ordered enough models for a 3000 point army I have my work cut out for me for the next year wink.gif

The models I now own:

60 Bloodletters (plastic and unsassembled)
30 Plaguebearers (plastic and unsassembled)
20 Daemonettes (plastic and unsassembled)
6 Nurglings (plastic and unsassembled)
6 Bloodcrushers (plastic and unsassembled)
Herald of Tzeentch (finecast conversion unpainted)
Herald of Nurgle (plastic and unsassembled nurgle chaos lord)
Herald of Khorne (forgeworld unassembled/painted)
Bloodthirster (forgeworld daemon prince unassembled and missing wings still)
5 Fleshhounds (gifted direwolves from VC friend)
10 Furies (daemonette+gargoyle conversion unassembled)
3 Flamers (plastic and unsassembled).

As you can see most of it not touched yet. I'm trying to finish my last Skavenmodels first, currently working on my Hell Pit Abomination.
The theme will most likely be Snow and Ice, Daemons from the North.

Anyways the reason I started today was to show off my finished conversion of the Herald of Tzeentch. Critique and comments are always welcome.

I think its a great start. I don't think the wings look fully integrated into the model.. its hard to tell though from the picture.

Yeah you definately have your work cut out for you, hehe, and probably for more than just a year too. wink.gif

I think that HoT-conversion is great. Unlike Colonel I think the wings look good, but you're gonna hate us for suggestion to GW that that particular Gift [Winged Horror] be removed from the Herald's tool-box. *lol*

No worries, judging by what happened in the latest White Dwarf I'm less inclined than ever to believe they're 'listening'.

Look forward to seeing if you're as skilled a painter as you are a converter. smile.gif

Thx for the kind words guys. Does the globe hand look off to you btw? In real life it doesn't annoy me that much but looking at it in the pictures it seems a bit out of proportion. If it does I have the option to use the flaming skull bit instead....

About the amount of work.. I only work 3 days a week until the end of the year and am a teacher so have a week off every 6-7 weeks so it should be doable within a year.

Everything in my Skaven Blog (link at the bottom) has been done in one year as well. Fingers crossed and some prayers to the motivational gods will do the trick again I hope tongue.gif

I Think the globe looks fine, there's enough skulls floating around in Warhammer anyways.. wink.gif

Very nice conversion. Globe looks good. It's a little big, but not enough to be bothersome. In fact, the only thing that I don't like is the spear. Which is sad, because it is a gorgeous, gorgeous spear. It just looks a bit too combat-oriented for a Tzerald. Otherwise I really like everything about the model. The facelessness thing is always awesome for Tzeentch.

Alright been a bit busy with my Skaven and Terrain projects but I finally managed to start on my first Daemonic paintjob.

I need your opinion though this is a model that has only his basecoat on most of the model, no washes highlights blending etc
I just wanted to see if I could pull off a Tzeentch colourscheme.

So what do you think? Is this Tzeentch enough? If you would see this model on the table would you immediately say: Herald of Tzeentch?
Do you think it would fit in a fantasy Daemon army or does it scream Eldar too much?

Apologies for the bad pics, it's late and I had to use my Iphone with bad lighting.

She doesn't scream Tzeench at me. But she doesn't look completely un-Tzeenchy either.
Basically if I saw it on the table after a couple of seconds thought it could only be a tzeench herald, it doesnt look like anything else in a daemon army.
But I would need to give it that seconds thought.

I would have probably tried to work some yellow or pink into the wings as well as the blue.
As it is if you are set on the white robes I think I would suggest doing the ball as a bright pink swirly thing. Or maybe some of her other accessories.
Although, as you have no horrors and she is the only Tzeench model in your army I dont think you need to worry about it too much as there is nothing she needs to fit in with.

Oh, and the globe is fine. It looks a little big in the first pic but I think that is the angle, it looks fine in the second.

Oh don't worry nothing is set in stone yet smile.gif

I will try to work in some pink and purple in the ascessories and the globe. I'm also thinking about buying one of those Tzeentch Icons and working that into the base maybe let the white robes blend into purple/pink at the bottom.

I'll give the yellow/puprle in the wings a thought a few small feathers at the bottom or top in a yellow tint might be cool.

Keep the ideas coming, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Tzeentch and am having a hard time with the general colourscheme.

How about keeping it fairly simple and freehanding a tzeench symbol on to the loincloth bit of the robe?

Waiting for a few bits to improve my Tzeentch Herald above, I decided to work a bit on the Bloodthirster, after the true hell that was glueing spikes everywhere I finally managed to finish him (without his wings attached since they will be magnetised and or pinned for easier transportation.

Been working at my Tzerald today and he is done for all except the base. I'm fairly happy with the end result although after painting I must say the Swordstaff doesn't really fit the model. The books and scrolls I had lying around were sadly too big though so it will have to do.

The base will be rocks and gravel and a big Tzeentch icon sticking out from them with a bit of snow and ice. But that will most likely have to wait till tomorrow.

Comments and critisism are more then welcome.

A bit of a shame white photographs so terribly seeing as it has quite a bit of highlighting.... Went with a bleached bone basecoat with purple wash to, witchhide (grey/white) and finally pure white on the edges. And then the picture shows a big blob of white sigh... dry.gif

EDIT: Just ordered the Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord staff which was finally in stock again. So expect a staff swap soon to make it more Tzeentch.

I think that Herald of Tzeentch is comin along nicely. It'll be interesting to see what kind of alternative staff you have in mind for it. smile.gif
And the DPoK kit from Forgeworld is a sweet little package. I would have primed it black - because that's what I do with everything - but to each his own I guess.. biggrin.gif

That Tzerald is pretty good too, love the scheme for it, kinda makes me wanna try the Angelic Host army I wanted to build a while back using a Deamon army list tongue.gif

Great stuff keep it up!
