so in order to run my standard of chaos glory/ bloodthirster list idea, i sort of need a bloodthirster. that old wreck from the early nineties will never do so i ordered the FW khorne daemon prince and some DE black dragon wings to get started. i did this because a ) i have a soft spot for big, beautiful resin greater daemon models, and b ) because i have zero originality.

the whole purpose of this thread is to keep me on track to completing the project, as i'll be forced to do stuff in order to maintain updates ( and this will prevent the model from collecting dust for 18 mos like my FW kipper did).

i am also looking forward to modeling/painting feedback and suggestions as well, as i think we at the legion have some of the most creative and talented hobbyists in the community, i'd love to hear your suggestions and/or ideas if you would care to share!

and so it begins...

Well Apart from sell the khorne herald parts to me... there's not much else I can add.

you've decided on the model... and likely your bloodthirster will be a long a similar theme to the bloodletters in your army.

One thing that I've wanted to do with the model is double wing it, which would add just a bit more oomph to the model... mind you forgeworld models don't normally need more oomph lol

but at least its an idea... one i'm not really likely to do, as I have a bloodthirster, an old metal one, that everyone seems to hate, but i have a soft spot for. So you're more than welcome to have a unique... well I haven't seen a double winged bloodthirster.

though i would like to add... check out Bjorn's bloodletter painting guide, its somewhere down here, you really want the bloodthirster to pop, and i think that the models in that guide really do

Congrats to purchasing one of the nicest kits for Daemons in existence!

The Khorne DP (with the addition of those wings) is definately amongst the best representations for a Thirster in Fantasy, in my opinion.

You really only need to attach those wings, paint the thing, and that'll be great. However - a guy at my local GW store converted this model so that instead of holding its axe by two hands one hand held the axe while the other had that characteristic whip..
It was a nice conversion, but I never saw it painted.

And the Herald is just fantastic too. I regret painting it Before I had really gotten back up to speed with my painting-techniques when restarting Warhammer a few years ago. You'll however make it shine no doubt. smile.gif

*DROOL!!!!* Very much looking forward to seeing this model in all it's stages! I've seen a lot of people use this as their BT. Like DR said, one of THE best models for DoC out there!

so i ordered a daemon prince, and in true FW fashion, they sent me a block of resin so i could carve my own biggrin.gif grabbed the hobby knife and tools and set to work, the pieces are soaking in dishwasher fluid and water to break up the mold release agent.

that axe look well dodgy... if i had received that i would of just sent it back...

I've been pretty lucky by all accounts with regards to forgeworld though... i don't have to carve out the models tongue.gif worst i've had is the GUO with an air gap in his bum... simple fix, hes now got an extra rotting bit, but that's the thing with nurgle lol

good luck on your scrimshawing tongue.gif

When I got my Carmine Dragon at Games Day last year, the guy took it out of the packaging and checked it over for us. It all looked awesome. However it does still need a LOT of work, greenstuff scultping the scales between the wings, it was a pain to glue together as well, most of it is now pinned.

And then I accidently dropped it and his head fell off breaking some spines.

Absolutely love that fig.

Awesome model. I think I would trim off the power cable on the axe though.

i'm gonna keep it on there, because i've got future plans to include a plague hulk in the army as a soul grinder. a little bit of machinery here and there will help with cohesiveness i think, and strengthen the concept that daemon armies are unbound by the constraints of time and space.

Having just ordered this model myself I have to ask where did you score the black dragon wings? I can't find them anywhere. Hoardobits is sold out so I'm kind of out of options.

My second option would be using the terrorgheist wings but those are MASSIVE
