Heroes.            280

HoK general.     115
AoK

HoT                    165
MoS, spellbreaker

Core.                              890

30 Bloodletters.              390
FC

25 Bloodletters.              318
Standard, music

10 Horrors.                       132
Standard

5 Furies.                            60

Rare.                                  330

2 fiends.                            110
6 flamers.                           210

I'm inclined to drop the horrors, but I've painted them now and they look great, so I plan to at least give them a try.

The HoK goes with the big BL unit, I'm going to try the HoT with both the horrors and the flamers to see which I prefer. I will probably run the flamers as 2x3 for flexibility if they don't have the herald. I'll probably run the 2 fiends seperate too.

HoT will almost certainly take light unless there's a really good reason not to. The horrors will throw 1 dice at flames every turn to either draw out dispel dice or get easy damage.

Looks like a solid list. Horrors are the only non-optimized thing in it, but who knows, you may like having them in there. And yeah, Light is going to rock hard with this list.

I gave this list an outing today.
I didn't take enough notes for a proper battle report but I will do a breif one here.

Against OnG.

30 Black Orks with BSB
30 Savage Orks with L2 and a hero
2 Goblin Charriots
Mangler Squig
6 Trolls

It performed very well. Although I forgot about my spellbreaker and AoK thanks to not having looked at it for ages and not having them in my 1k list.

One of my fiends performed well, sacrificing itself to kill the mangler squig. The other didn't do much he didn't have a lot of chaff for me to target and the one charge I made against a chariot failed.

My, bloodletters. one unit was a let down, it needed 4" for a charge and got a 3, so it got minced by 2 charriots and a unit of black orcs. Not really their fault but I thought I had lost at that point.

The other unit performed brilliantly, it was blocked from charging in my second turn by my flamers which was frustrating as it missed a flank charge on the savage orcs but it eventually butchered the black orcs chariots and savage orcs in 2 turns.

The bloodletter unit was tied for most valuable unit with the flamers (which I ran as 2 units of 3) who killed the trolls with shooting and then finished them off in combat then got through most of his savage orc unit allowing the last few bloodletters to finish them off.

The horrors completely underperformed. They didn't manage to sucessfully cast once, although that could still be considered a contribution I guess as they did draw some dispell dice. Other than that they just bunkered my herald.
I will probably try them again as it allowed me to be more agressive with the flamers than I could have if they had the herald, but I think 10 more 'letters would have served me much better.

Both heralds performed well, although my HoT had me baffled every magic phase as I had no idea what to cast with all those spells.

The furies performed poorly due to a failed charge and getting stomped by the savage orcs as they had the animosity result that lets them turn around march and charge, but that wasn't really their fault.

All in all I was pleased with how the list performed. I had some horrible luck and forgot about my dispel scroll and still won.

I think if I wanted to make the list more competetive I would make the 'letters up to 2 blocks of 30 and maybe drop a fiend for more flamers, but I might suffer against more chaffy armies then.

Its hard to fail a charge with fiends! Don't forget the swiftstride.

The manglers are best dealt with by magic missiles. Trolls too. Your default Light spell is flaming.. so a good start before banishment on trolls.

I would normally prioritize shooting any wolf chariot that can cause panic in another unit.. of course the only thing that can panic in that list is the wolf chariots! Wolf chariots are just as easy to shoot off as 1 troll but can drop a lot of blood letters on the charge before dying.

If your Horrors drew out some dispel dice and made it easier for some of your other spells to get through then it sounds like they were semi-useful at least and probably worth trying again. Their default spell is quite capable of taking out the chariots or mangler squigs with some half-decent rolling.

Anyway, congrats on the win!

I had the worst luck with charges. I've never seen so many 1s and 2s. It would have been nice to swap my charge rolls with my march and reform checks since I failed pretty much of all them.

Magic missiles would have been one way, and if I'd needed the fiend to deal with lots of other stuff I might have done it that way, but the benefit of moving into it is that it definitely dead.

I think the overall thing that impressed me with the list was that I had a big chunk of bad luck, I made a few mistakes, and it still came out on top.
