I'm sure many of us have heard about some potential upcoming Daemon models but I'm surprised it hasn't generated any discussion here yet, so I thought I would start this thread and see what happens. wink.gif

Anyway, this is what I have seen on Warseer. Its mostly been buried away in the 40k section and with everyone discussing 6th ed 40k, digital codexes, flyers, Chaos Space Marines and Dark Angels the Daemon stuff has been pretty much buried away and forgotten about. The release timeframe seems to be somewhere between August and October, presumably to coincide with either the 40k boxed game or Codex: Chaos Space Marines.

Plaguebearers (plastic) - 10 to a box(?), probably £18
Furies (plastic) - 5 to a box, maybe £15.50
The Blue Scribes (finecast)
Herald of Nurgle (finecast) - I'm surprised this isn't plastic, but then they haven't done plastic 40k characters yet and it would need bases for both systems.
POSSIBLY Screamers (not sure if these will be new models or current ones in finecast - could be new sculpts in finecast as they seem an odd choice for a plastic kit)

Also, apparently plastic Greater Daemons for 2013, rumored to include parts to make Skarbrand, Ku'Gath, etc.

As with all rumors, I'll only completely believe it when I see it, but the Plaguebearers at least seem almost a given now. Personally, I'd also be really interested in seeing how the Blue Scribes turn out as they could be a fantastic looking model if done right. smile.gif

UPDATE
OK, confirmed new kits are:
Plaguebearers (plastic, 10 per box)
Flamers (plastic, 3 per box)
Screamers (plastic, 3 per box)
Nurglings (plastic, 3 per box)
Slaanesh Chariot/Hellflayer (plastic)
Slaanesh Exalted Chariot/Hellflayer (plastic, limited release)
The Blue Scribes (finecast)

In addition, the Soul Grinder is going to be re-packaged to include a Terrorghiest-sized plastic base so it can be used in WFB.

As most of you have heard by now, many of the units getting new models are getting a rules update. Nurglings, Plaguebearers and The Blue Scribes are staying the same it seems, but here is a summary of what I know about the rest:

Flamers: Strength reduced to 4, no longer get to ignore the multiple shots penalty when shooting. Cost increased to 40pts each. Moved to Special section. Gain a new rule called Warpflame. When Flamers cause a wound from their shooting attacks roll a D6. On a 6 the unit takes an additional D3 wounds with no save, on a 1 the unit gains Regeneration (6+) for the rest of the game (or +1 regen if they have it already). Pyrocaster is now 10pts.

Screamers: Strength and Toughness incresed to 4, Wounds to 2 and Attacks to 3! Cost increased to 40pts each. Slash attack changed to D3 S4 attacks per Screamer that hit on a 4+. Gain new rule - Lamprey Bite. Bite gives their close combat attacks Mutliple Wounds (D3) against Large Targets.

Soul Grinder: Stats (I think) are: M8, WS3, BS3, S6, T7, W6, I3, A4, Ld7. Has a 4+ armour save and causes Terror. 250pts. Can use its mechanical claw to grab a single model. If successful all other attacks against that model hit automatically. Has a grapeshot-type shooting attack, and can be upgraded with other shooting attacks (one of which is like a Stone thrower) for at least 50pts each. Can move and shoot its big guns. Also has an upgrade called Daemonbane Claw for 10pts (this might be the special claw attack mentioned above).

Seeker Chariot: Can be taken as a Rare(?) choice now as well as a Herald mount. Strength reduced to 4 and armour save to 6+, but now has scythes I think.

Exalted Chariot: Also a Rare choice or Herald mount. Similar to Seeker Chariot but twice as many crew and Steeds pulling it, along with an 'Exalted Alluress' super-champion. Also has 8 wounds. Costs 190pts as a Herald mount and presumably the same as a Rare choice. The Exalted Alluress has a special rule that grants her an extra attack in combat for each wound caused by the impact hits.

Hellflayer: A bit like the Seeker Chariot but inflicts 2D6+1 impact hits (I think).

Definitely looking forward to the Plaguebearers, as I've been holding off adding any to my army so far. And they really needed to update the Furies as well, current models are just attrocious! I'm also going to hoep for the Screamers in Finecast, as I love the sculpts, but I refuse to add metal to this army.

Plastic Greaters would be quite interesting indeed, but they don't seem to be the kind of kit that GW would normally do in plastic. Haivng options on them would be quite nice though.

A year or so ago I would have agreed about the plastic Greater Daemons, but having seen all the plastic monsters and riders that came out for Storm of Magic last year - along with the plastic Tyranid Hive Tyrant and Empire Griffon this year - its starting to look more likely than ever.

I heard about these awhile ago, and really excited about plastic Greater Daemons (drooooool).

I'm starting my daemon army from scratch and had a choice between all OOP figs or all plastic. I have to tell ya, the decision was tough but the lure of a light plastic/finecast army was just too strong.

Can't wait to see what they do with plastic Plaguebearers.

Plastic is my drug biggrin.gif not a huge fan of finecast but I do enjoy having a very light feel army. Plaguebearers in plastic would be fun, probably will give me the motivation to take some. Also, if that rumor of plastic Greater Daemons is true, I am holding off on my buy of the bloodthirster.

Great job compiling all those relevant rumours from the avalanche stuff being discussed at Warseer. I've been trying to keep an eye of those threads as well, but I hadn't caught half of the stuff you list here JonathanC.

Plastic PBs is something I've been wanting for a long time. It amazes me that Screamers haven't gone Finecast already - out of all possible models they arguably need it like few others.. Big heavy pieces of metal stuck on a fragile flyer-pin.. *meh* One almost don't dare fielding them for fear of them breaking as things are now.

The other things mentioned are just groovy. I'd probably pass on Furies though because ~40 is just 'enough' even for me.. But the rest is definately stuff I'd be all over!

Let's hope it's all true.
Plastic plaguebearers have been overdue for a while, I want a unit of at least 30 and I'm much happier with the idea of paying £45 for them than the £82 it will cost me now.
Plastic GD will be very nice too judging by the quality of the recent plastic kits.

Having the gaps in the range filled will be great. Some missing stuff is fun/easy to make (I'm thinking of my skaven war litter here rather than any particular daemon stuff) but making a good special character is well beyond my skill.
Plus you can run into the issue that people can complain "thats not Skarbrand, it's just a bloodthirster".

i really hope they don't take plastic GD's in the WoW-esque direction of the daemon prince model, that thing is hideous.

Hideous? I personally thought it was a pretty good model. Plus you can't really judge the GD models based on that. That was back when 7th existed. They have improved greatly since then. They have had amazing plastics, for both fantasy and 40k this year, so I do indeed hope that they will continue this tread of awesome.

Fiends of Slaanesh?
Nope. Still metal.
And I'd assume if they're converted they'd be made into Finecast, although plastic should work just as well.
Same goes for Screamers, while on this subject: If they are converted I'd prefer them in plastic, but all old models that have gotten redone have gone to FineCast so I'm not having too high hopes. smile.gif

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Fiends in Finecast either. Plastic is probably pretty unrealistic, although it would be awesome!

Great! I'm hungering for some new models any time!

Multi-part GD would be nice too. I'd like to see how variations would come to life on existing GW models instead of the (great) figures of other ranges.

Do we have a guesstimate as to when any of the new stuff will be coming out? 3Q? 4Q?

Im saying end of 3Q or beginning of 4Q. They have to find a place to squeeze it in between the 6th ed release up to CSM release and WoC release.
