Okay, time for the last batrep of the tournament.

Game #5: Daemons, battleline

His list: (from memory, I forgot to take pics/notes of his list..)

Keeper of secrets
lvl3, siren,

Herald of Tzeentch (lore of beasts)
Spellbreaker

Herald of Slaanesh
BSB, -2ld banner

~30 horrors
~20 daemonettes
7 fiends
1 fiend
4 flamers
2x5 Furies

Spells for the game:

My HoTz: Shem’s burning gaze, Birona’s timewarp

His HoTz: Wyssans wildform, curse of anraheir
Keeper: Phantasmagoria, Succour, Slicing

Deployment:

His daemons left flank

His daemons center and right flank

My daemons left flank

Center

Right flank

Turn 1: My Daemons

Chaff units moving closer on the right flank
user posted image
Advancing on the left flank as well
user posted image

Turn 1: His Daemons

Fiends charge my lone fiend. Keeper charges my crusher
user posted image
user posted image
Fiend comes to lurk behind the rock
user posted image
After combats, fiends obviously kill my fiend and overrun to my bletterhorde, keeper also kills crusher but doesn’t fit into combat with letters.
user posted image

Turn 2: My Daemons

Crusher charges his horrors, trying to assassinate his wizard.
user posted image
Now you see them.. Thirster was siren songed and failed his charge.
user posted image
..and now you don’t. Fiends wiff their attacks and bletters end up annihilating them. Keeper takes few wounds through magic.
user posted image

Turn 2: His Daemons

Crusher fails and is killed. On his turn, horrors charge my fiend..
user posted image
Kill it and overrun to my lone flamer (his buddies got killed on turn 1 to some magic bolt)
user posted image

Turn 3: My Daemons

Moving closer. Thirster tried to get a charge on those daemonettes but failed his 19” (needed a 9) charge..
user posted image

Turn 3: His Daemons

Daemonettes and keeper get a charge on letterhorde
user posted image
His horrors and fiend get charge on my horrors
user posted image
He gets wildform on daemonettes
user posted image
Board looking like this. Daemonettes and keeper killed enough letters, so that thirster could get a charge into base contact with keeper. Obviously 18” (needing an 8) charge is way too long for my thirster…
user posted image
Horrors get killed and his fiend overruns to my hotz
user posted image

Turn 4: My Daemons
Thirster fails that 18” charge and in combat my letterhorde gets killed
user posted image
Fiend kills my hotz, by doing two wounds I fail both of my 4++
user posted image

Turn 4: His Daemons]

Keeper and daemonettes charge my other letterhorde
user posted image
Horrors and other units shuffling around
user posted image
He gets wildform on his daemonettes. In combat I kill his keeper, but take a wound on my herald and lose about 10 letters
user posted image

Turn 5: My Daemons

Combat still raging
user posted image
His units
user posted image
Thirster is unable to get charges and decides to go into a corner and not get killed.
user posted image

Turn 5: His Daemons

Fiend joins the battle
user posted image

Turn 6: My Daemons

Still hacking away
user posted image

Turn 6: His Daemons

Daemonettes and fiend are able to kill my letters in the end
user posted image
Thirster survives in the corner. He did not participate a single combat through this game… Major error right there.
user posted image

In the end it’s a 12-8 win for his daemons. Had I played my thirster better and not tried those 19” and 18” charges (which failed three turns in a row), game probably would have ended in a different way. Oh well, yet again I didn’t trust into my thirster enough, I should try and remember that there’s very few things that can put up with thirster.. I could have chucked him right in the middle of the board for his keeper to charge or for thirster to get a charge next turn into his daemonettes and BSB..

In the end I was 4th, 3rd place was taken by the daemon player that faced in game #5, 2nd place went to that skaven player I faced in game #3 and 1st place was taken by a chosen deathstar+2warshrines WoC army that I did not face at all.

The one thing Daemonettes are good at is killing Bloodletters. I've seen this myself in games.
Thanks for all these batreps. I thoroughly enjoyed them!
And yes, if you had played it a bit more 'safe' (with statistics) on those charges the BT was attempting it would probably have been a different game.

Last fight was visually really enjoyable. I loved the contrast between his pure snow theme and your red troops clashing. I would summarise 2 big highlights of this fight to two sentences: "He gets wildform on daemonettes" and "He gets wildform on daemonettes". 2 Turns and the most important fights and he gets wyssans on both of them. Thats pretty darn bad.

In general I was thinking that this would be easy fight for you. After fiends got slaughtered there was only some Daemonettes and Kipper to take care of and even his super expensive BSB was positioned so that she could be easily killed for good amount of points and removal of ASF. Your opponent must have been very skilled though, as his army doesnt look that tough in paper; tons of points on magic, lots of relying on Ld bombing and not much to punch through big armour or high T.

In my opinion you let down your right flank and he took this chance and succeeded. After that he took down unit after unit while you had hard time retaliating. Very good use of Slaaneshes speed for him. Perhaps more central deployement would have helped you there? Another thing to notice is that your opponent really got the best spells for his list of all available choices for this fight. I definately agree with you that you should have used Bloodthirster more aggresively. I have the very same problem with him as I am more used to other Greaters that have to think more on picking their combats. It could have been intresting if you would have boldly went ahead to challenge his Keeper with your Thirster. Nevertheless, enough of speculatoins the last fight was extremely entertaining to read as both players were playing daemons and very different kinds of lists =)

Thanks for the quality reports.

this last fight was excellent, as Kitsune said, the visual clash of the armies really looked great. props to your opponent for seeing his chance on the right and focussing his killing power to topple your hordes, i like his style lol. plus i'm a heavy slaanesh fan, i always love seeing them do well tongue.gif

you've already hit on the mistakes in this game so i won't repeat them but i will say that you can see an improvement in your game even just over the course of these reports. i was wondering how long it was going to take you to stop giving up your horror unit lol. great job Pecu, catching up on your reports is a great way to start the morning on a sunday! Keep em coming!

Thanks for the comments guys! More batreps are on the way, I'm participating a tournament next weekend (12.-13.5.).

It's event where you can either register alone with 3200pts army, or you can register with your friend as a pair and you both play a 1600pts list. I'm course going there by myself with 3200pts list of Daemonic goodness smile.gif. Also the event has special comps system and scenarios. You don't get awarded with victorypoints that you kill, but instead you get points for every flag that you kill from enemy etc... So it should be an interesting event.

Here's my list for it, incase anyone is interested:

Bloodthirster
General
Immortal fury
Axe of Khorne
Obsidian armor

Herald of Tzeentch
Spell breaker
Master of Sorcery
Lore of Shadow

Herald of Khorne
Battle standard bearer
Great Icon of Despair

Herald of Slaanesh
Siren Song

30 Bloodletters
Full command

30 Bloodletters
Full command

30 Daemonettes
Full command
Siren standard

20 Horrors
Full command

6 Flamers

8 Fiends

Fiend
