Ah so not so lucky after all then, good thing you managed to kill off his magic fairly fast too then!

I felt the same way about the GDs when getting mine. Making one out of a Shaggoth is something that never occured to me though, and we actually had one laying around now that I think of it.

It worked really well though. I must say. smile.gif

And here we go!

Game #2: Lizardmen, Dawn attack

My opponents list:

Slann (lore of shadow)
BSB, Higher state of consciousness, The becalming cogitation, Divine plaque of protection, Dispell scroll

Scar-veteran
Cold one, Crown of command

Skink chief
Stegadon warspear, ancient stegadon

39 Saurus warriors
Standard, musician

39 Saurus warriors
Standard musician

6 Chameleon skinks

11 Skinks
11 Skinks

10 Cold one knights

Spells for the game:

Slann: Miasma, enfeebling foe, Withering, Pit of shadows
HoTz: Shem’s burning gaze, speed of light

So a few big hitty blocks and some chaff. Definitely not the most powerful lizzie list, but still a very formidable opponent, after all he had beaten his last rounds opponent 20-0,

Deployment:

As said, deployment was Dawn attack.

My right flank
user posted image
My center and left flank. As you can see I basically got everything on the left flank/center so I went heavy on this side of board (since there’s an imbassable terrain in the middle of the board and because slann+ancient steg was put to the far right flank thanks to dawn attack biggrin.gif)

Lizardmen left flank

Lizzies center
user posted image
Lizzies right flank

Lizzies get the first turn.

Turn 1: Lizardmen

Skinks charging forward
user posted image
Center units slumbering forward
user posted image
Right flank coming as fast as they can. Thanks to his placement, slann was out of range for all magic this turn
user posted image
His chameleon skinks shot my fiend
user posted image

Turn 1: Daemons

I charge my right flank crusher to his cold ones. He’s on a mission to assassinate the saurus hero
user posted image
I make a long charge with left flank fiend to his skinks
user posted image
user posted image
And in combat I indeed get a killing blow on his saurus hero, byebye stubborn. Obviously the crusher gets killed when the saurus cav gets to hit but I don’t mind, he earned his points back already smile.gif
user posted image
Fiend breaks the skinks and catches them within 6” of the other saurus unit, which promptly decides to panic biggrin.gif and runs through the other saurus unit. Though that unit passes it’s panic.
user posted image
user posted image

Turn 2: Lizardmen

Saurus cav charge thirster (lol)
user posted image
Other saurus unit manages to rally, the other one slumbers forward
user posted image
Skinks turn around to kill the fiend that killed their buddies..
user posted image
..which they do.
user posted image
Thirster kills 4 cold one, he does zero wounds back and he breaks. I chase the cold ones down and now I am ready to face his slann
user posted image

Turn 2: Daemons

Thirster charges slann who tries to flee but gets caught with 21” charge.
user posted image
Flamers moving to flame the skink chief on stegg
user posted image
Letterhorde w/flamesword herald charge his saurus block
user posted image
And in combat I kill ~20, he kills few back and breaks from combat. I don’t catch them but I end up to face his other saurus block
user posted image
In magic phase, i get flickering fire through on his steg and kill it biggrin.gif. And in shooting I finish off his skink chief
user posted image
[img][/img]

Turn 3: Lizardmen

He charges letterhorde with his saurusblock
user posted image
Skinks moving to get some shots at the flamers
user posted image
Chameleon skinks do the same
user posted image
Skinks shooting kills 1½ flamers
user posted image
In combat I kill ~20 saurus’ yet again, he kills few back and breaks. I catch him and get ready to annihilate his last saurus block on my next turn.
user posted image

At this point my opponent decides to concede since only thing he has left is the one unit 10 skinks, 6 chameleon skinks, and that saurus block that is doomed to die next turn.

So a 20-0 win for the daemons on turn 3a. smile.gif.

Excellent job and gratz on your 2nd flawless victory!

My Favorite part was "The Cold ones charge the thirster (lol)"

Game, set, match, there bud! lol! I know you're trying to be nice and all but this guy lost this game in deployment. Sent out his Cold ones before they were properly supported, failed to get his slann into range for magic, set up the slann to be overran / charged into if the cold ones broke (Which was likely due to the stubborn hero getting sniped, great job on that btw!) and then the skinks didn't block / redirect / do anything but play with chaff.

You deserved that victory and he was right to concede in 3 turns. lol! REALLY looking forward to your next game!

Tremendous covered the important stuff I guess, so I'll just chime in and congratulate you on the win.
And of course, looking forward to the next report!

Haha, oh man your first opponent must have been annoyed. First he trains for like 2 months against my daemons once on every week losing every game and then on his first game he meets a list he complained most (letter hordes and thirster). I really feel bit sorry for him, as his gameplay as improved so much and with some extra luck he could have made that massacre a minor loss or even a draw =)

Looks like your games went quite well indeed, so congratulations for that. Unfortunately I didnt manage to get there as all my 3 friends cancelled the tournament and thus I couldnt afford mega expensive trains =P
Well, next tournament here in Kuopio will be on my store then, so perhaps we will meet in there *hehe*.

Ya, we actually talked about that he had had several training games against a very similar daemons list and I knew it was you he was talking about smile.gif. There was definitely a chance for him to get it into a draw, or even a win. Thankfully my chaff units were able to hold up and harass his units just enough so he couldn't focus all of his attention on my blocks.

When are you going to host the tournament? Soon? I do hope so smile.gif.

I am still doing bit more terrain so we can have good amount of it on every table, but I would think that the tournament could be organized at july or september. I have one extra big convention coming up before that and it takes most of my resources. I will let you know.

Hi guys, time for…

Game #3: Skaven, Battleline w/ 400vp objective in the middle of battlefield

My opponents list (not 100% sure of it, I forgot to take pics/notes of it..)

10 Rat ogres
3x40 Slaves
40 Stormvermin
Abomination
Warplightning cannon
Doomwheel
2x8 Gutter runners
Grey seer
BSB (storm banner, which decided to seize working on turn 1)
Engineer
Engineer

Spells for the game:

HoTz: Speed of light, Banishment

Grey seer: Plague, scorch, Skitterleap, Howling warpgale
Engineer: Warp lightning

Going into this game, I really didn’t know what to expect since I don’t get to play against skaven. At all. I’ve faced skaven twice in the past, and both times I faced them with my Warriors of Chaos. And even though DoC and WoC are sort of similar to each other, combat heavy armies, it’s still a whole lot easier with WoC to go against skaven. T4, 3+/5++ on tzeentch warriors and T4, 1+ on knights compared to t3 5+ on bletters.. :/

Deployment:

Skaven left flank
user posted image
Skaven center and right flank
user posted image

Daemons left flank
user posted image
Daemons center
user posted image
Daemons right flank
user posted image

Daemons got the first turn

Turn 1: Daemons

Left flank rushing forward
user posted image
Same thing on the right flank and center
user posted image

My magic & shooting does very little, no remarkable casualties on the skaven side

Turn 1: Skaven

Units coming forward, though stormvermins holding back. Notice that the Doomwheel has disappeared, it decided to drive through that swamp there. Rolled a 1 and took 6 wounds. biggrin.gif.
user posted image
Right flank
user posted image
Abo charged my poor fiend
user posted image
G.runners moved nearer
user posted image
Abo kills the fiend and overruns to crusher.
user posted image

Turn 2: Daemons

Chaff units going around stormvermins to go after the warp cannon
user posted image
Thirster charges ratogres and letterhorde charges slaves
user posted image
Flamers flank and rear charge abo...
user posted image
..and make short work of it in the combat
user posted image
Thirster kills rogre champion, letters kill a ton of slaves but slaves hold.
user posted image
Magic does little and it’s calm before the storm on left flank
user posted image

Turn 2: Skaven

Stormvermin move right in front of my letterhorde
user posted image
Gutterrunners move to get shots at my crusher
user posted image
Plague comes through and kills 10 letters… sad.gif
user posted image
Crusher dies to poison
user posted image

Slaveunit fighting letters, breaks and dies.

Turn 3: Daemons

I charge his stormvermins with letterhorde
user posted image
Letters freed last turn, join thirster
user posted image
Other letters take a beating
user posted image

Needless to say, I broke the ratogres and pursuited into his slave unit

Turn 3: Skaven
user posted image
Stormvermin still beating the other letterhorde
user posted image
No more pics from that turn..

And from this turn forward, the game began to look quite grim for me and totally forgot to take pics during my turns... Sorry about that biggrin.gif, it was late Saturday night when we played the game so I was bit tired (I slept ½ hours on the night before the tourney)

Turn 4: Daemons

We were still locked in combat so not much else happened. Apparently I killed the slave unit that thirster and letterhorde were beating

Turn 4: Skaven

user posted image
user posted image
Thirster dies poison shots. Earlier it had already taken 2 or 3 wounds from that cannon
user posted image

Turn 5: Daemons

Letterhorde fighting stormvermin gets killed. Other letters charge cannon, kill it and run off the board.

Turn 5: Skaven

Stormvermins charge horrors
user posted image
Gutterrunners finish off flamers
user posted image
Horrors die
user posted image

Turn 6: Daemons

Last horrors die, freeing his stormvermins to get a charge on my HoTz..

Turn 6: Skaven

Which they do, and obviously HoTz gets annihilated..
user posted image

So in the end it’s a 20-0 loss for the Daemons. I just couldn’t get enough attacks on him to get rid of his guys quickly enough. Even though he is t3 and has little/no armor, he just had so many bodies that I wasn’t able chew through them. And on top of that he gets so many attacks (which although hit on 4+ and wound on 3+/4+) that get to hit before me.

But it was a very fun game, my opponent was great and we had a good time playing so I don’t mind losing to him. He ended up coming 2nd in the tournament.

And that’s all for this time. Next batrep against Dark elves in game #4.

Well you had the better looking army so don't beat yourself up about it! smile.gif

Another great batrep and it's funny I've just been reading about how supposedly Tough the Skaven are and what-do-you-know it's the first batrep you've posted where you actually lost.

That happens to all of us, and should happen from time to time as well I might add - but this was an ETC-orinted game right?

I ask because it's just another example of how I believe ETC is really missing that mark of "holy balance" that they proclaim to be after. When Daemons are up against an opponant sporting the sort of cheap stuff that Skaven can bring, there's just no way those restrictions are going to work.

Take that Bloodletter unit that you had, which got hit with Plague and lost 9 models. Now that unit should have been a unit of about 40 Bloodletters (even by 'normal' ETC caps = max 40models, max 450pts?) but since they've got that arbitrary restriction saying that Daemons can only bring 30 models (wtf?!) - well, what the hell were you gonna do after that, going up against 40 Stormvermin with 20 Bloodletters deployed 10-wide. That was a death-sentence right there. I'm actually impressed with your mental stamina you continued playing after that. smile.gif

So yeah, when facing Skaven I think Daemons need to be allowed to bring their Official (and True) arsenal of toys etcetera. I'm not saying you shouldn't blame yourself for this loss, or that you shouldn't credit your opponant - but there's something to be said for these damn comps all the same.

Oh well.. Sorry for whining. Like some other posters on this Forum I'm the sort of bloke who'd like to illegalize ETC. It was a good report, thanks for that - and like I said, your army looked a lot better than his so that's something nobody can take away from you.

No shame in this loss man.

From what I can see your skaven opponent played his army beautifully giving you the slaves and the rat ogres to soften up your letters while concentraiting fire on your thirster and flamers. The ABO is always going to be a pain but at least it was killed early AND the fact that the doom wheel killed itself is a victory in itself!! biggrin.gif

Maybe if your magic phases had been a bit more potent it would have helped, but honestly it looks like you were just on the poop end of the stick and lost to a good, skilled opponent. Which is also a victory in itself. smile.gif

I'm just amamzed there wasn't a huge brick of Plague mice with a furnace or a bell running down the middle. Almost seemed like an incomplete army at first. lol! smile.gif

Great rep! Looking forward to the next one!

Lvl 2 metal: Searing doom, Enchanted blades of aiban
Lvl 4 shadow: Melkoth’s mystifying miasma, Enfeebling foe, Penumbral pendulum, Okkam’s mindrazor

As said, scenario was blood glory, with me going at 5 fortitude and him at 6 fortitude. Which basically meant that if he kills thirster I lose, if he kills my letterhorde with BSB I lose.

Deployment:

Dark elves left flank
user posted image
Dark elves center and right flank
user posted image
user posted image

Daemons left flank
user posted image
Daemons right flank
user posted image

Daemons get the first turn

Turn 1: Daemons

Chaff moves forward. My goal is to charge that lone crusher into those spearmen and assassinate his lvl4
user posted image
Right flank advancing as well.
user posted image
In magic I irresistible force net of amyntok through on his spearmen. In return I lose my magic levels to miscast.
user posted image

Turn 1: Dark elves

Dark elves “advancing” on left flank
user posted image
Units shuffling on the right
user posted image
Dreadlord flies out of thirsters charge arc.
user posted image

In magic he fails his strength test on lvl 4 on doesn’t get to cast. Lvl 2 tries to get big searing doom on thister but I scroll it. In shooting he does two wounds on thirster.

Turn 2: Daemons

Fiend and crusher get a charge on his spearmen with lvl4 mage in there. In combat he does a wound on my crusher and I do a wound on his sorceress.
user posted image
Right flank rushing forward. I realized that I need to get thirster into combat before it gets killed by shooting and magic
user posted image

Turn 2: Dark elves

Hydra tried to get a charge on my letterhorde with flamesword herald but failed a 10” charge.
user posted image
Not much movement on center or right flank
user posted image
user posted image

He shoots everything he has at thirster but does no wounds. Crusher + fiend vs. Spearmen + sorceress combat still rages on.

Turn 3: Daemons

Letterhorde charges hydra, kills it, overruns to spearmen which get annihilated. After combat I reform letters and in pursuit fiend ends up in combat with cauldron.
user posted image
Crusher charges xbowmen. Thirster charges black guard, kills like 8 and they fail their re-rollable stubborn ld 7 and run. Thirster catches them. At his point my opponent is down to fortitude 4.
user posted image

Turn 3: Dark elves

Combat still going on.
user posted image
Corsairs reform
user posted image
Cauldron kills my fiend
user posted image
Xbows kill the lone crusher
user posted image
Dreadlord charged my other horde to its flank. I lose combat but I manage to reform looking at dreadlord.
user posted image

Turn 4: Daemons

I charge my letterhorde to his corsairs. He kills my herald before I get to strike. Thirster flies into cover, behind the letterhorde and hill.
user posted image
Center of the board looking like this
user posted image

Needless to say, in combat I slaughter his corsairs and get their standard. Winning me the game on turn 4a with 20-0 victory.

Yay.

Well played, and congratulations on the victory!

I don't know if its the restrictions hitting DE too hard or if his list was just intentionally a bit soft somehow. Nobody carrying the Pendant? I know the Sacrificial Dagger is practically banned.. (?)

Seems to me he would have had to take better control of the board in order to really deal with your Bloodletter-hordes. For this being a Blood&Glory battle he seemed stretch out his forces a bit much in deployment.

Oh well, I'm certainly no expert of these things. Very nice report! Two very nice-looking armies fighting it off once more.
Cool stuff!

Excelelnt job with the net spell stopping his lvl 4. Not to mention just taking it to your opponent. Clearly I wasn't there but thru your pics and report its pretty clear your opponent was scared of you and held back hoping his shooting and magic would take you down. Way to capitalise on that and bring home the victory!

Where did you place in this tournament anyway?
