Kairos done

Since I'm too lazy to re-post all the piccies, I thought I'd link the post with the basing advice request and final product to my finally-painted Kairos.

Cool. Certainly never seen him painted like that before.

Basing advice.. My personal sentiment is that bases should try to blend as much as possible with the material of the gaming table you're most likely to play on.

Like in our group we use the standard green GW mat. So accordingly I make all bases with variations of that theme.

On bigger bases one can of course spice things up a little. Some little rock, maybe a little pool of still water, whatever suits your fancy really.

Cool stuff. Love the rainbow effect, it is so suiting for tzeentch.

If you are doing snow bases then perhaps a little cork "hill" with some icicles if you are gutsy?

Icicles are way beyond my level of skill.

I tried to make a rock from green stuff (shown in the later pics), came out OK, but cork woulda probably worked better.

Really liked the effect of the mutilated skink.

Interesting notion on the basing, DReign. Since my games vary on the tables they're played on, having multiple at out club (and also varies on tournament tables), I try stick with an army theme, which in the case of my daemons is a snowy theme. As I said in the WHGenerals thread, I'm trying to up my game on the basing, so anything I can try is great (there's always more models to paint, so although Kairos is done and dusted, any suggestions are still very useful)

Did not look much further than on the pic of Kairos in your other thread I'm afraid (I did read the comment that the 'only thing missing' was a cannon-ball though, which made me laugh) - and I kinda suspected your 'landscapes' vary alot more than mine.

Well, everybody's landscape varies more than mine, as it turns out. Anyway, you're right of course, if you got a snowy theme for the Army (and an Army theme is the next best thing if you ain't got a table-theme I certainly agree with that!) then snow it is.

Just to leave you with another idea: In case you got some bits from for example the Mansion-set you could make a regular 'snowy base' for Kairos and then have one of those sign-posts standing on it, some snow sprinkled on it and so forth.. (?)

Scenic basing reminds me of what it was like outside my doorstep just a week ago.

Now I'm jealous.

We don't get snow here, so I have to undertake an overseas trip in order to see snow or go skiing.
