Dear daemon players,

I left to go and work in Tanzania in February 2010 and have just got back home. There, I had limited internet access and zero playing time.

Since then, a new edition of the rulebook has come out which I have to accustom myself: Blimey!!! they did some serious changes!

I was wondering if some of you could point me out to discussion threads on the workings of the 8th edition and our daemon book. I would do it myself, but currently the search function on this forum is not working.

Are we still trashing everyone? I ask because I did a quick search of tournaments in the UK and US in the past 2 years, and it seems that daemon domination is over (but not dead).

Cheers,

I wrote some long posts about daemon cost effectiveness, daemon characters and also magic lores. There is tons of stuff to read there so if you want to have quick review then link that Talonz provided has some good musings about what we got.

Daemons still do trash and dominate many tournaments, but since sadistic comping system has spread in many countries, daemons are restricted harslhy in those and it ofcourse affects our gameplay. Though even with heavy comps daemons are still very strong top tier army.

Short recap of what has been discussed are things like: Seekers, beasts and Princes are useless. Screamers can be good sometimes, but are very unreliable. Fleshhounds are underappreciated and are actually quite nice. Core daemons, fiends, flamers and Greater daemons rock the world and are all very strong. If you can specify what kind of information you are seeking then we could provide some more of it happy.gif

And welcome back =)

Thanks for the replies.

Nice to see that daemons are still the bane of the whfb world.

However, I have to say that it is hard to shake off a decade of playing warhammer. This 8th edition is resolutely different.

Quite different, yes. For the better, to a vast degree, if you ask me.

There are quite a few details in the Core mechanics for a returning player to get his head around, but ones you do that you'll hopefully cheerish (as I do) the game is much more dynamic - I'd almost say 'realistic' - and above all there's a new sense of chaotic balance which makes for interesting games with match-ups that used to be.. not very interesting most of them.

I like it because it allows for a fair game without the need for swinging the nerf-bat wildly in specific army books.

I will say that 8th is growing on me so dont let the oddities of it turn you awy without giving it a chance.
