for example: If my herald of kh got kill before my bloodletters strike, do they still have hatred in that round of combat?

No, they do not. The bonus is immediately lost, so they don't have a chance to strike with hatred.
Though they would get hatred if the Herald is killed by someone striking simultaneously as the bloodletters (same initiative for example), even if he was removed as a casualty before you started rolling their attacks.

I've had that happen a few times. It's even stated in the book that it's immediately lost. Bummer, but true.
