I won't get into some of the drama... but 2 people were DQed for cheating... and that's only part of it... ugh... but all three of my opponents were cool folks.
Game 1 vs Dark Elves
He had the ring, so I kept my magic to 2 dice normally... and carefully aimed spells if possible.
I made a mistake with the placement of a Taurus... hoping I could catch Shadowblade... erk... plus my bolt throwers rolled a lot of 1's and 2's.
I ended up losing.
Game 2 vs Empire
Not the hardest list in my opinion.
I was rather accurate with my warmachines which saved my keester. One rocket round took out one of his two cannons. He also had poor shooting on a helblaster... letting my Taurus finish it off and to run around and wreak havoc.
I never rolled double 1's or 2's (or 5's or 6's). I outmagiced him rather well.
My 2nd Lord on Taurus burst through his knights and outriders and flanked his rear line.
Result: Chaos Dwarfs Massacred the Empire.
Game 3 vs High Elves
Two dragons, lots of bolt throwers, 2 units of dragon knights, 2 chariots and other stuff.
This game was intense. Opponent got first turn and moved dragons up. Two tauruses charging the same one made one flee.
It was back and forth *in a good way*. I managed to kill a dragon, and the rider of the other. I made the goofy mistake of forgetting my guess ranges one turn because I got excited about a flying fire breathing bovine. LOL. I managed to secure the draw last turn.
Again, despite headaches with the event... all 3 opponents for me were very cool people. Props to them, and I'm grateful I was lucky like that.
After the VC player and a DE player were disqualified for cheating I made the cut and got 3rd.
I live near Chicago (southern WI) so I will be going!
