No SoC - - but of course we have a new Daemon book tongue.gif

From Rick on Direwolf
---------------------

http://gt.us.games-workshop.com/2008/gt_promo/rules_wh.htm

Items of note:

-2250 point total this year
-No Storm of Chaos lists
-No mention of the upcoming/rumored Demon book
-Wood Elves don't get the free wood Special Rule (gee, why don't they
throw out some other army's special rules, like that Speed of Asuryan
crap! smile.gif ) [NOTE: statement made in jest, not intended to begin
major b*tch-fest about how broken the woodies are or how SoA isn't
that bad]

Also check out the major changes to their sportsmanship scoring:

http://gt.us.games-workshop.com/2008/gt_pr...ring_sports.htm

Quite interesting, and at first glance it seems very good (minimal
opportunity to chipmunk your opponent).

Rick

And from Matt M

Under "Army Lists Allowed"
"In addition, we have a standing rule: If a new edition of an Army Book
or Codex is released less than 30 days prior to the event we are
running, then the previous edition will be used. This is to give
everyone a chance to read the new list and understand the way it now
affects the game at large."

and from Rob C

Pro-painted armies no longer qualify for Overall.
Sanity at last.

Sounds good, I'm glad it's now 2250. I get to throw all my 2,000pt lists away.

Okay what I don't get is why not list the Demons book on there anyways since the three GT's on the site are in October and September.

I do applaud the 2250 pts also. I plan to attend Chicago. Crown Plaza is the same place Adepticon will be at this Spring.

Something else of note is that the tournament is an open list environment. You're supposed to show your list to your opponent & answer questions about it before the game.

I think the reason the daemons aren't on there yet is the book isn't officially announced - yet.

Under rules, it says that each tournament will have updates to the rules listed. It also mentions about if an army comes out it has to be on the shelf for 30 days before the GT allows it to be used, so everyone gets a chance to be familiar with it. Too bad Dark Elves might no be able to be fielded in their GTs since it might be close to the end of the year that they come out.

From Direwolf courtesy BF
--------------
In case anyone missed it, the rules package for the
Games Workshop 'Ardboyz tournaments has been released.
First round qualifiers are on April 19th.

http://us.games-workshop.com/news/events/o...oys/default.htm

Note that all the games are OPEN LIST and you exchange
lists with your opponent prior to the game at this
event.

It was very interesting to see that Hordes of Chaos
are getting a White Dwarf update in June (White Dwarf
#341) this year!

Chaos players should note that there a quite a few
restrictions on what you can use in Chaos armies at
some of the 'Ardboyz events as a result of the
upcoming Daemonic Legions release in May and the White
Dwarf Hordes of Chaos update....but the restrictions
don't take place until the Semi-Finals (May 31) or
Finals (at Chicago Games Day). It appears that the
Chaos books can still be mixed and matched as is for
the April 19th Qualifier tournaments.

Note that GW has ruled that generally only army books
are legal for the event, outside materials such as
Storm of Chaos units, Rhinox Riders, Albion Magic
Items, etc are all not legal. Also, Dogs of War are
not legal.

Thank goodness they are giving us 3 hours to play each
round. As there will be two Lords in almost every
army eating up points, that should give us enough time
to get the games in smile.gif

I am looking forward to this event as a change of pace
from our usual ones...especially as I get to play in
it and don't have administration responsibilities that
day! smile.gif

Best Regards,

BF
