My Hellcannon

And here we go with another piece of mine. I was asked to paint this up as the prize for the best painted army at a local Rogue Trader Tournament. Very very fun model to do. I made a little display base for it so it could be shown off prior to the tournament better, and it looks better on the battlefield. Of course, I had to enter my Khorne Legion into the RTT and I ended up winning this cannon that I painted! So very fitting. Made it worth my while to paint it up at least.

While this isn't a Daemonic Legion unit, the cannon is Daemonic and that works in my book. If we could find a way to crew this with daemons and use it in the DL list.....I can always dream right?

That looks phenomenal! I always wondered if painting all of those faces erupting from the sides of the cannon were hard to paint, well were they?

Trogdor, you never cease to amaze me-first be'lakor, then a bloodthirster, now this!

Very nice, very nice. I like the subtle blending of black and red on the wheels; it gives it that "evil" look. Plus the crew are painted nicely as well.
I'm sure you could whip up some home rules about bloodletters or something crewing this thing. It wouldn't be too difficult, and would look cool.

@ Vercholl, in the whole scope of things, it wasn't too bad painting the faces. I did do quite a few layers on there and so it took a long long time becuase of the number of faces that needed highlights. The hardest thing for me was that I assembled it entirely first and then painted it. If I had to do it again, I'd assemble most of it but still leave greater access to that huge barrell.

@ Lord Marixis, I'm glad you noticed the subtle things like that. In real life that's what really makes this a cool piece (all the small details on it), but I'm very glad you could see some of that in the pics. I did make the base so the crew can be taken out and swapped with whatever I want so I think I really might just try some daemonic crew one day. I hope I can find an opponent who will let me use it
