QUOTE (Aéquitas @ Mar 25 2013, 10:37 AM)
On the toad I used:

Elysian green base
Camo wash (splashed over it)
Ogryn camo layer
Waywatcher green glaze (splashed over it)
Ogryn camo layer on the boils

I started with castellan green, then death forest green(?), followed with elysian green and used the ogryn camo just for a few sparce highlights. I think the greenishness of the toad is in part thanks to the waywatcher green. I think I'll be able to get the look I want if I switch the elysian green for ogryn camo and brighten the color with a bit of waywatcher green. Thanks, your response was very helpfull.

I like your herald conversion, especially the pinkish hue around the belly wound, makes it look really tender and painful.

Fab looking toad, the more I see of them the more I like them. Good contrast with the subtle blends of green and the loud red. I think your nurgle collection looks great.

And here is a another toad. I´m still not 100% happy with their colors but I´m gonna finish all 6 of them like this first and then do some changes to all 6 of them at the same time if I still feel this way by then.
I hate having to play with unpainted models.

Bases not done yet, same is true for the horns on the new one. Have to wait till the sand is dried before adding snow, slime and dead grass.

Alright seeing as my Daemon Prince project isn't going anywhere (kind of gave up on it, I need to sculpt to much) I decided to start working on my Skull Cannon conversion.

I'm working on the barrel at the moment which is a lot harder then I thought it would be. Reverse highlighting is really hard you can't really make mistakes with it cause they are extremely hard to correct. The area is extremely small as well so yeah. Tough stuff.

Here is a preview:

Please tell me what you think, what needs to be changed etc. Personally I feel the transition from yellow to blood red is a bit to harsh, didn't leave enough orange I guess. You can see the steps I took in the picture. Left part is first step, middle is next and the end result is the right side. the frest of the barrel (the metal and "engine") are just basecoated.

Doesn't washing orange and yellow work? (watered down paint, that is)
Might save you a lot of trouble. smile.gif
Anyway, at the moment I think it looks good. the harsh transition doesn't bother me, it doesn't look unnatural or anything. Great stuff in here, keep it coming!

I find it tough to make a comment based on this picture. All I can say is it looks good here, but I can imagine that IRL things look a little different.

Alright I'm superbusy at the moment so with the little spare time I have finishing a model takes much longer then expected.

I think My cannon is about 80% done now. Need to tidy up some stuff mainly skulls and chains and a few touchups on the flaming effects. I need to finish painting the Herald who counts as 2 crew and then I need to add some snow and dead grass.

Anyways here is a little preview of my: "Skullcannon-thats-been-taken-over-by-an-arrogant-herald-of-nurgle"

Good call on the use of the Hellcannon. The flaming skull being fired really adds a nice touch. And the Nurglings are adorable

I'm not 100% on the skull, I'd love to see it in the flesh though. Good work as always!
