Well I'll humor you by saying that according to the thread over on Warseer we both posted in your reaction to Soul Grinders in fantasy was hardly unique. laugh.gif

I'm a bit surprised you wouldn't get the WD just to read it and have a copy of the update for future reference, even if you aren't planning on playing with it. I would have thought it to be an essential purchase for all Daemon players as we've no idea when or if the rules will become available online. The WD itself though, well I only skimmed it really but I wasn't impressed. Meaningful content is as thin on the ground as it has been for all of 2012's issues. I got a letter through today informing me my subscription (which I have had more or less continously since 1995) is due for renewal. I think I'm going to let it lapse this time as it just isn't worth the money any more. sad.gif

At least there were still lots of cool new models. I will be getting at least one of everything in due course as first and foremost I would say I'm a collector, and I like to have at least one of everything (past and present) in my main armies. Due to monetary issues though I will just limit myself to a Chariot and maybe some Screamers to begin with and plan to get the rest later.

I'm pretty sure I got the scope of the 'Daemons-update' already. The White Dwarf is mostly something I've bought when I'm in a good mood, and the only thing ever Worth Reading imo are the Fantasy Battle Reports. So that's like my Standard Reply when they ask:
- And what about the White Dwarf this month, got it?
- Does it have a BattleReport featuring Fantasy?

I guess there is a battlereport with Fantasy-stuff this month, but I've been made depressed enough already by this entire release. The more I Think about it the less I like it:
- The new Flamer-rules are not serious (presentation is unproffessional, and in-game result is they arn't justified having on the table anymore) - more-ever I really don't Think the Flamer-sculpts are justified either. Why new Flamers?! If there was one model that would have lasted Another 10 years it's Flamers.
- Same thing with Screamers. Yeah they got some 'new' Eyes.. big deal.
- SoulGrinder we already discussed.
- BlueScribes seem expensive for a small kit like that, even by GW standards, and I don't use SC's. They also did not take the opportunity to clear up the inconcistencies in that profile as we've done.
- Nurglings were nice but I got 40 already. *haha*
- Plaguebearers were what I wanted, but now I'll buy 1 box instead of the 5-6 boxes I was planning on - my pathetic way of telling GW what I Think of them doing a number 2 on the Army that maintains my interest in the Warhammer.

Oh, and I got that timeglass Exalted Chariot kit and one of the small chariots - just for painting. Just like you JonathanC I put pride in my Collection after all! smile.gif

So, i actually bought a soulgrinder kit to use in fantasy, i don't hate the model, but i don't think it fits in fantasy, in 40k it's fine.
I was looking around for K'daai destoyer conversions and someone used a soulgrinder on 2 legs, so since we have SG in fantasy now i decided to do a similar project, this is the result so far....

I want to make a big old Bloodletter out of him smile.gif

nice conversion... though i still don't like the legs...

I was going to convert a soulgrinder to a similar fashion. but then i realised i would rather use screamers... im not a giant monster kind of person.

my idea had the armour plates being used as armour, a little like the brass scorpion plates. but the legs were heavily greenstuffed to look like the metal girders were grafted onto it.

but that doesn't take anything away from what you've done, you obviously had a different vision when creating this... and its very well done, something to be proud of smile.gif

@SonOfTheDamned Please tell me that conversion is using just one SoulGrinder box! I think it has a lot of potential, and although I am jumping on the new release bandwagon ( 2 soulgrinders, 5 boxes of PBs, 4 boxes of Screamers, 2 boxes of Nurglings, WD, and the HoT on Disc ), I did it just to round out my army, and to fill gaps. Plus I like big monsters. They make for nice centerpieces although usually don't do too well in games.

It's all made from one SG box yes, still have some bits leftover...
thinking of adding armour plates to the shoulders and lower part of the legs and have a lot of skulls on spikes, those need to go on there too wink.gif

You should probably face him the other way on the stand or some opponents will give you grief.

That's a really really great conversion SonofTheDamned. I really cant stress that enough. You should be proud of yourself. If I succumb to the pressure and ever buy that kit I will definately follow in your footsteps just to have an original model.

That being said, I must sadly agree with Zhambah about it not 'fixing' my basic gripe with the entire concept of the SoulGrinder in Fantasy. I know its just a matter of taste and all, but I just can't help it.

Also, your conversion makes that gigantic base totally uncalled for. If I were you I'd ask those friends of yours if it is ok by them to mount it on something smaller.. I for example mounted my buddys Zombiedragon on a 75x75mm base because I just couldn't stand the idea of that dinner plate sized base.

But yeah; Total bravo on the conversion. Really nicely accomplished. It cant be underscored enough.

As the others I think it is fantastic conversion, but it would really suit 40k much, much more. But yeah, fantastic idea and really works having him on two legs!

Nifty conversion! Makes me want to buy either the ghorgon/cygor kit or the giant kit and make a 2-legged 4-armed soul grinder from the legs and arms of the ghorgon and the upper torso and head of the soul grinder.
