Title: 1000pt game versus Tomb Kings
fergus - July 3, 2012 03:21 AM (GMT)
Hi everyone. I'm new to Warhammer (2 months into it) and I am playing my first match this Sunday against Tomb Kings. It is only a 1000pt battle and I have the following units to choose from:
20 pink horrors
5 flesh hounds
6 flamers of tzeentch
herald of tzeentch
herald of slaanesh
masque of slaanesh
The list I have prepared thus far is as follow:
Herald of Tzeentch
18 pink horrors (SB)
20 bloodletters (SB with icon of endless war, musican, bloodreaper)
3 Flamers of tzeentch
3 Flamers of tzeentch
I have no idea what to expect from a tomb king army and I would appreciate any tactics or tips in facing them. Please feel free to tweek my army list that would better suit me against my future opponent. I am nervous and I don't want to fall flat on my face in my first match. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

OK get rid of skulltaker, replace him with a naked herald of knorne(using his own model), put him in the Bloodletter unit so they get hatred. then use the points left over to get master of sorcery for the tzeetch herald (shadow, it is hell for Tk).
Keep the horrors, put the herald of tzeetch with them so he can't be snipe of in the shooting phase.
Final advice target his Chariots with shadow, they can shred through Toughness three
enemies with impact hits. (i.e daemons)

I would suggest even thinking about dropping a few of the horrors and put more models into the bloodletters. If you are going to bunker the HoT, they will be a little more resilient to shooting due to a boosted ward. Just be sure to keep them out of the way of charges.

lol its tomb kings! don't worry you will beat them. Tomb Kings only win if every turn everything they want to happen happens, or else there army begins to fall apart. If he brings chariots, get the charge in and you will destroy the unit. Since it is only 1k, it shouldn't be too hard. They have expensive troop choices, and the biggest blocks will be in the form of skeletons. Also keep in mind that they can never march ever, so they will be moving at their base, which means the farthest they could ever go a turn is 8 inches, being their chariots.

Thanks for all the advice so far, it has really been an eye opener for me. I will definitely put my HoT in my block of pink horrors and get rid of Skulltaker (even though I love the way he looks) to upgrade my HoT so he can use Lore of Shadow.
I do have some follow up questions though:
Should I just go with one big block of bloodletters or split them into two units?
And if it is recommended to split the block of bloodletters into two units, should I replace one of those units of bloodletters and replace it with daemonettes?

You can keep both the HoT w/ Master of Sorcery and use your Skulltaker model as a HoK w/o upgrades. Maybe try something like this:
HoT w/ MoS - Shadow
30 Bloodletters w/ FC, Icon of Endless War
The Hatred the HoK confers to the unit will make the unit a blender. I would just keep to the block of 30 bloodletters. The ones that make it to combat are going to blow apart TK skeletons.
