hi everyone.. i'am just looking at going to paint yeat another unit of bloodletters. i have always loved the ones that GW painted for their army-book and ect.
i have been looking around the net to find their official paint-scheme, but i cannot find it. does anyone know the scheme that GW used on these?
Just look at the box. It would tell you what colors you require, but you would have to transition all the colors into the craziness that is the new paints.
also if you want to get them exactly like they are on the box... your gonna need a touch of photoshop
Probably the old 'Blood Red' mixed with something darked, drybushed bloodred/up-to-white, then edited in photoshop.
It's all in the technique really.
.. but yeah I think this is 'before the time of washes' (if we're talking about The Box)..
With the current line of paints you'd want to light the bloodred up, rather then darken it, and then wash with some red up to 'Bloodletter' -
Where I ended up with my BLs was painting them THICK 'sunburst' yellow, then washing up with predominantly red washes.. You can go wild with that ****, picking out every detailed vein and feature on the models by applying a long series of expanding washes.
I know people who are Masters of painting use other techniques, but if 'GW Theme' is what you're after, then using washes from a light background gives you the choices - I'd say.
thank demonreign.. that was very helpfull. i will try and contact gw and see if they can share some light.
