Title: Seeking advice for my tourney 2400 list
Order_from_Chaos - May 9, 2012 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hey all. So this is the list I have played a couple games with in prep for an upcoming tourney. There are some unique restrictions that apply in general and to DoC specifically. The major ones are a unit (excluding characters) cannot exceed 450 points, only 3 units with fly are allowed, and an army restriction of 0-6 flamers and no duplicate gifts. So here it is
BT
Obsidian Armor
Immortal Fury
Spell breaker
550
HoK
BsB
Armor o khorne
Banner of Sundering
Firestorm Blade
215
HoT
Disc
MoS(Life)
185
Blue Scribes
81
HoS
Daemonic Robes
Torment Blade
120
32 bloodletters
FC, Icon of endless war
439
29 Daemonettes
FC, Banner of Ecstasy
403
3 Flamers
Pyrocaster
120
3 Flamers
Pyrocaster
120
Fiend
55
Fiendx2
110
2398
So I did do this from memory so I might be off on my point costs but I believe this is it. I have had mostly good results I have been thinking of taking a bloodcrusher champ instead of the blue scribes because he seems useless, except for last game where he kept my BT alive by forcing through random lore of life spells. I chose life to make my blocks more survivable as well as to support and heal my BT. I run the Daemonettes in a 6x5 formation and my bloodletters in a horde, im thinking of dropping the icon for 2 more bloodletters.
Anyways please give me any advice or tips you have on how to make this list as competitive as possible within the comp limitations.
Thanks!

It looks pretty solid to me. While the Blue Scribes aren't always great, it is a good way of getting access to spells from other lores like Beasts or Light that may be more useful in certain situations. They can also be used for War machine hunting.
I would drop the Pyrocasters though, not worth the extra points. You could also swap the Disc on the HoT for the Winged Horror gift (so he can get a look out sir! from your core units). I'd also reconsider the gifts on the HoS. Not sure what to suggest but Etherblade helps the unit deal with armoured foes so isn't a bad choice, or you can always go for the much-maligned Siren Song.

I'll second what JonathanC said.
Also, Life is a pretty 'meh' lore for a level 2, although it could work pretty well for your list. I usually suggest Beasts to anyone who has 'Nettes, and Metal wouldn't be too bad either.

The only reason I have him on a disc is because in my normal 2500 list he has spellbreaker and MoS and I also have no model for a dude with wings, but I might have to convert one because that is an excellent idea! I might just use the herald on a disc as my blue scribes and do a budget conversion for my HoT with wings with extra horrors!
I tried siren song on the HoS but I found it not particularly useful due to the random nature of charges my opponent just didnt roll the 5" to make the charge :( but I will have to test it more.
I will also try playing around with lore of beasts because it is pretty slick, buffing the crap out of my characters as well as s/t 4 daemonettes is scary lol.
Thanks for the advice!

Forcing failed charges can also be very useful for Siren Song. Place yourself at a weird angle right at the edge of the opponent's charge range and pop the Song. They'll almost certainly fail the charge, but have to turn, exposing a flank or getting in the way of other units (or both!). Also a great tactic against big blocks of archers, as they can't shoot if they fail a charge.
