Title: 2400 pts
Description: Need help filling up the points
God of war - May 2, 2012 07:22 PM (GMT)
Hello eberybody,
I have a two-day tournament coming up in a few months and I'm in doubt about filling up my remaining 400 pts.
Restrictions which matter are: units not larger than 40 and 450 pts and characters have look-out sirs for the horrible spells
Scenario's are: dawn attack, meeting engagemnt, blood and glory and 2 battlelines
This is what I would take up to now:
-HoK: firestorm blade and AoK
-HoK: AoK
-HoT: MOS (light) and spell breaker
-HoT: MOS (shadow/death/metal/beasts?) and spell breaker
-32 Bloodletters: FC and banner of endless war
-34 Bloodletters: standard bearer, mus
-5 furies
-5 furies
-6 flamers
-6 flamers
So that's about 2000 pts, which leaves me 400 more to spend.
I thought about including a greater, but that takes up a lot of points and I'm not sure he adds a lot more to the army (for it's points)
I'm happy about the 2 HoT, giving me flexibility and 2 scrolls! They each go into a unit flamers, securing a flank and hunting small units. But wht lore could side well with the light lore?
I thought about adding a block of daemonettes or plaguebearers with their herald and deleting a HoK and reducing a letter unit to 30. That gives me 3 solid blocks, one heraldless, but could be supported by magic.
Can anyone help me with some ideas?
Greetz, Bjorn.

Quick thing on the second HoT , take Metal.
Enchanced blades is great on Flamers and the second turn of combat for the BL.
Searing doom followed by golden hounds is great against all heavy cavalry with characters.
Final Trans is great ... But amazing with the banner of despair.

Hmmm, will check that lore out more thoroughly then! Thx!
Anyuone some feedback on the list and the left-over 400 pts?

For those 400pts you should probably look into the issue of a BSB - Victorvictor6 mentioned the Great Icon of Despair for example.
One or two singel-models for board control perhaps? - Single Fiend or Crusher. Is something else that wouldn't hurt.
I'd add another Fury to each of those units - perhaps drop one of the Fury units and throw in a little unit of Nurglings instead (Scouts, giving you a good chance of coming at the enemy from a really annoying direction..)
You could of course just drop a Bloodthirster into that list. But I feel it'd be rather exposed so some re-arranging would probably be in order despite the BT actually 'fitting' into 400pts. You'd want a 'sheild' of Monstrous Stuff to at least give some intitial protection against Cannons etcetera.
You know what? Aside of the BSB I mentioned adding another sizeable unit of Core-Daemons might be your best venue actually - given especially the Blood & Glory Scenario.
Those are probably the facettes I'd be looking at here. :)

Thx Dreign!
Unfortunately, I'm already at 585/600 heroes. I'll try your pointers out and post another list in this thread this evening.
Of course, other C&C are highly appreciated!

Ah yeah damn percentages! *sorry*
I'd say the reason, then, why you're list is looking so 'light' on chars is simply that you haven't assigned a Lord (yet).
Still, it will leave you with some hard choices to make..

For this list... with 400 points... hmm....
A unit of 6X Flesh hounds really couldn't hurt. As your list stands right now any fast moving army (DE, HE) will run circles around you and you'll only get the combats your opponent wants you to get. I AM assuming you'll be going up against some good opponents since this is a tournament and all. lol!
Assuming you take the 6X unit of Flesh hounds the rest of your points should go into some fiends. Will they win you the game? Probably not... However, what they do do (heh heh heh :P ) is give you great "OH SH!T" units that really catch your oppoents attention as they scurry 20" across the board. At 55 points they are GREAT re-directors / chaff AND the models look pretty bad a$$. :) Plus they add some movement to an otherwise juggernaut of a list. i.e. "We move forward, CHARGE, forward...."
You seem to be hopeing your opponent is going to simply line up across the table and play you at your own game. What your failing to realize is that a smart opponent will not. They'll send some chaff units at your bricks and let you eat 60-90 points a round while they magic and shoot you down to size until what remains of your army is in a manageable, bite-sized, movement tray. Then they'll send their unmolested army in for the quick kill and you'll be left with your head spinning.
Take fast moving, hard hitting units to complement your 2X Hordes, as well as some chaff to force your opponent to either deal with them or give you the chance to smash their offensive ranged units. In either case it gives your infantry wave a much better chance of actually seeing any kind of respectable CC.
Hope this helps!

I would definitely be worried about Blood and Glory with your list as is. Losing just a single unit of Bletters or your General (which I presume is going to be one of the Tzeralds?) will lose you the game. Adding in at least a BSB would help, but I'd ideally want to see a BSB and another Core block. Oh, and the addition of single Fiends never hurt a Daemon list ;)

Thx guys!
Apparantly, opinions vary between another block or more chaff :)
@Lord Tremendous: well, I found that with 2 times 6 flamers, 2 times5 furies and 2 magical missiles, running rings around me is very difficult for my opponent. That's why I take them, so I have something to take points, and not need to force something fishy with my block to get points. I do agree on the support issue though.
Do you have good experiences with flesh hounds? I only took them once and had a hard time figuring out how I had to play them. Support yes, but I find them expensive at 210 pts for 6 models?
Don't worry about the blood and glory scenario: the autobreak is off. Instead, if you break, you cannot use the general/BsB rules any longer and all subsequent test are at -2. Doable with daemons, I think.
I'll post a new list soon!

Well, if your Blood and Glory is tweaked a bit like that, I would definately pick more hounds then, though I would be very tempted to drop one herald and pick another horde unit instead ^.^
