There is lots of small things that you could tweak for better performance. I'll start with characters:
First of all, never pick etherblade on your Khorne herald. It's close to useless! With S6 you already ignore 4+ armours and lower and your killing blow can cut through armours completely. You could get firestorm blade at half the price and get additional armour penetration + help to beat big monsters too. Having etherblade also leaves your herald much more vulnerable since you cannot afford armour of Khorne.
One of your heralds of Tzeentch might want wings so it can keep up with the rest of the army. Since you have no slower M4 units and only one unit of flamers, your heralds will get left behind and both of them in flamers units make it way too tempting target to your opponent. Either get some horrors to bunker them, Plaguebearers so that you can run behind them or wings.
On your troop choices, definately split the 10 furies in 2 units of 5. Their role is to sacrifice themselves to derail and distract your opponent not to fight. Fiends could do the same but unit of 2 is ok too.
You also have too many characters on your list. 25% of 3k is 750 and you got 795pts. So you really have to drop some to make this list legal. Also you would really do better with some more units. Smaller armies can do ok, but in such a big game you could get severly overwhelmed with set up like that.

Any ideas on what I could/should remove? Kind of stuck. I want to keep the two HoT because to combination of shadow and light is aesome. Plus shadow steed is great for getting the fiend or furies into combat with the war machin in the second round.
Oh ans thx for the input :)
LAV-Kitsune- - April 26, 2012 11:17 AM (GMT)
You can only use steed of shadows on characters, not any units. You could move your heralds or even your great unclean one, but nothing else. I would actually drop the shadow wizard as shadow is really expensive lore to cast and with light already in there you wont get much synergies with it. Shadow works much better with more flamers, fiends and Plaguebearers around since those all usually benefit from signature spell and spells like withering. For your list you would likely do much better with light and beasts for example. Those extra attacks on balesword GuO are quite awesome and you have tons of other characters there to buff. Signature would also help in combat and you could transform your herald to a dragon in dire situations.
If you want to keep all those characters and icon of eternal despair then your choices are bit limited. You could still start by dropping those etherblades and getting armours of Khorne instead. With extra points you could get more fiends or flamers for example. If you dropped more of your characters you could even pick another horde on your list.

I was thinking of maybe removing the fiends and magic iteam from the khorn heralds. I could remove the bsb all together. That is not set in stone. See your point with the shadow. Beast is better. Could also remove him completely. Hmm decision,decision... Either one would give me another 10 demonetts..

I you refer to Daemonic Gifts as 'magic items' one more time I'll come to your house at night and stab your dog to death with a No2 pencil.
*Sorry... I've been spending too much time on Warseer lately. Probably need a shrink at this point..*
Seriously though:
I would not drop the BSB in a 3k game. By that I mean: The 25pts Upgrade that allows you to re-roll failed Instability Checks within 12" of the Herald carrying the flag.
Some people are crazy about always having a BSB but if you were playing perhaps a 1,5k game I would say there was more important things (a bit dependant on set-up) compared to plowing down loads of resources into a Herald (that still only has T4, 2W etcetera).
As for the Daemonic Icon that you can give to the BSB.. Well, seeing as the Great Icon of Despair is very cheap for the effect it brings to the table (-2 LD in the thick of battle is completely devastating against all 3 opponants you're likely to face!) you'd certainly be making your army less competative by removing that Icon. There is absolutely no question about that.
I will simply second what Kitsune said: Drop those Etherblades, take Armour of Khorne instead.. possibly Obsidian Armour on like ONE Herald (that will try to close with chars likely to carry to nasty Magical Weapons).
Kitsune gave you good advice in general. On average though, it sounds a little bit like you don't have a clear idea about where you wanna take this (nothing wrong with that!) beyond the actual game size. I see tendencies in your list pulling in different directions - lots of Bloodletters and LightLore Tzeentch Herald (standard nastyness) and then a seemingly half-spirited addition of a Shadow Lore Herald that (as Kitsune said) probably ain't worth your time in this list.
Pesilent Mucus... I'm a bit weary of that Gift personally. Have you ever tried it before? The Breatheweapon-Gift (or even Noxious Vapours) would be a better choice IMO - or just save yourself 25pts there.

I am quit new to the whole warhammer game. Only a year or so. While my friend have been doing it for almost 5 or more years. One of the reasons I joined this site is to get the great respons I have gotten so far.
I will be redoing the list, dropping the whole shadow lore/HoS. Points can be used to make antoher hord. I have used the Pestilent mucus and it worked quit well considering the GuO base is so large that it hurts a lot of the enemy. They wound me three and every single one in base contact will have to take a thoughness test. Which can be quit a lot of enemy units.
But the game is in 10 weeks so nothing is set in stone. The more advise I get the better I get.
I really appreciate the help so far:)

Dont drop the Mucus, it is awesome against all Bretonnia cavalry, Empire demigryphs and Dwarf miners for example. They are likely to score 1-2 wounds on your GuO when charging. That means 3-6 toughness tests = 2-3 dead models to opponent. In overall it keeps combat resolutions more stable for longer time than breath weapon and is especially good against highly armoured foes that you will be facing a lot in here. Your other Khorne herald will still want that armour of Khorne. Having 3+ and 5++ saves greatly enhanches his survival and its cheap too. Also you should have the obsidian armour on bsb if you take it, since he needs more protection.
Overall this army starts to look quite nice. It has better balance between characters and units. 2 Solid combat units, 1 very good distractor with siren song and few derailers/war machine hunters with furies and fiends. Ah! But now that you think of it, flamers shooting isnt really that powerful against Bretonnia and Dwarves and you might be better off with more fiends instead. Both choices will work though, so you can play what you prefer best =)
JonathanC - April 26, 2012 10:32 PM (GMT)
Flamers are quite useful for dealing with support units (like detachments) either in combat or by shooting though.
This list looks a lot more solid than your first one, and apart from switching the Obsidian armour to the BSB and dropping a single Bloodletter for Armour of Khorne on the other HoK I don't think you really need to change anything.
bonesaww666 - April 26, 2012 11:59 PM (GMT)
If I may, why the Balesword? You don't really have any monstrous targets to tackle against these foes, as I understand it the stank has become easier to kill also...
You could kit your GuO with Breath, Mucus and Trappings to transform him into a one man(monster) tar pit. It also makes him far harder to kill with Cannons and mass incoming fire and preserves all those precious wounds for CC.
I know the 2 gifts seem anathema to one another but honestly you can use the Breath to even out any poor combats (when he doesn't get wounded).
