9 Ogres, ironfist, standard
75 Gnoblars = Trappers
6 Leadbelchers
Thundertusk

Since I had rolled "Trap" on the random events table I got to pick my board edge and who went first, I set up the terrain with this in mind and used it to constipate his battle line with scenery.
I set up my army with my GuO in the center, the 'letters to his right and the Horrors to the right of them. My Daemonettes set up on my far flanks to Siren Song his units into a "better position".
Cam's battle line was anchored around his Ogre horde with Slaughter Master with his Thundertusk to their left, a unit of 8 Bulls to the left of that followed by 5 Leadbelchers, his other flank was watched by 75 Gnoblars and then the other Bulls.

Turn 1
I moved my army up to mid field in preparation of the blood shed to come, my 'letters hung back a bit waiting for there chance to strike, the Daemonettes on my far right ran into a farmstead.
Magic Phase 11 power dice and I am off,  I managed to cast Phas Protection from my Herald on all units within 12" meaning the letters, horrors and 'nets all got it, the net is dispelled along with Plague Wind which I tried to cast on the Gnoblars.
OK: I fired things up in his phase with a couple Siren Songs
First was the Thundertusk which slammed into the farmhouse this blocked anyone from interfearing with the my Bloodletters the other was on his horde which had an obscene frontage and slammed into my GuO leaving their flank pleasantly exposed to the frothing horde of Bloodletters! Then he charges my Horrors with his unit of 9 and the Daemonettes with the other unit of 9
Magic Phase: I was forced to use my Spellbreaker to dispell Curse of Bruja, got rid of the regen spell and his magic was over.
Combat Phase: Perhaps the most dismall roles I have ever seen, luck can not even scratch what happened for me here. I swing and hit 4 times killing 3 and dropping 2 wounds on another, first was his Slaughtermaster with the Giant Blade and he missed all attacks, then horrible attack rolls abound 8 hits 2 wounds all saved. The battle rages on! Nettes lose 4 but manage to cause 3. The 'Nettes fighting the Ogres on the left got a brutal feeding 7 bite the dust cause 3 wounds and I roll poorly 4+ the Herald remain, Horrors fare a little better but get fed regardless!

Turn 2
Bloodletters Flank the Ogrestar.
Magic Phase: 4 dice nothing happens
Close Combat: I cause 16 wounds with the Bloodletters kill 2 more with the GuO he scores a wound on him in return and kills 2 letters. Ogre's flee caught by the GuO Bloodletters smash into the trappers, Campaign rules difficult terrain tests fail on 1,2! 12 die! Nettes on the left evaporated Ogres turn to face the GuO. Horrors continue to get pummeled, Nettes wound the Thunder tusk 2 more times
OK: Reforms unit to face off against my GuO.
Magic Phase: Wyssan's Wildform? On his bulls fighting the Horrors.
Shooting: Leadbelchers cause a wound on the GuO
Close Combat: Letters smash the Gnoblars, Horrors continue to be sodomized, the Daemonettes kill the Thundertusk, with only 5 left they stay in the farm house.

Turn 3
My GuO charges his Ogre's.
My Bloodletters turn to face the Ogre's who are pummeling the Horrors I swift reform the remaining 18
Magic Phase: Abysmal I haven't got over 4 power dice since the first magic phase.
Close Combat: GuO chases Ogres off and fails to catch them, the Ogre's finish off the Horrors.

OK: He rallies the fleeing Ogres who turn to face the GuO. Turns to face my Bloodletters with the Ogres who have recently pulverized the Horrors
Shooting: Bloodletters lose 6 from a volley of Leadbelchers fire.

Turn 4
GuO charges the Ogre's and the Letters charge into the
other Bulls
Close Combat: GuO beats the Ogres and runs them down through a venom thicket, the Bloodletters hit the remaining Bulls pulverizing them and running them down.

The game ended after he shot my Bloodletters one more time then they were assaulted by the remaing Letters and the Greater Daemon.

Daemon Victory with a Scattered Army result! One less Ogre army to worry about!

Huzzah, good job!

Not much to say really other than that, but it's a shame you weren't getting Light off due to craptacular winds rolling. Oh well.

Yeah I gotta say the Horrors really pulled their weight for me on this one, despite their craptacular stats if the Herald stays alive they make for an excellent tar pit. Going into this battle I was a little worried being an all core list, but all is well that ends well!

Nice battle report XD
Last time i faced ogres i fought the tunder tusk with a unit of 25 letters with the herald... after losing the first combat, winning the second (he passed the test) in the third he killed ALL the members of the unit. Ok i'm famous among my friends to be extremely unlucky with dices , but in any case the problem was fo 5 vs R 6. Could you tell me how did you manage to fight ogres R4 with nettes Fo3 without magic? Probably (surely) i have no idea how to use them! Thank you in advance! XD

i love it when the fatties get thrashed lol, good work! did he just forget to target the herald in the horror unit, or did you just make all of your saves?

bonesaww666 - January 28, 2012 07:23 AM (GMT)
The first round they had pha's protection(?) and an awful lot of luck, but realistically I was perfectly willing to sacrifice the 'nettes to pull the Thundertusk outta his battle line as ASL is an absolute nightmare. If your opponent runs an Ogrestar then a Siren Song or two will win you the day everytime!

With a Herald his Thindertusk's cancelled out my ASF, when ever I can I try to park my Siren Songing units in a building as this makes them Steadfast which is key, so one unit gets the banner of ecstasy the other deployed where they can hide in a building. Also you get 10 models to attack one monster which doubles your damage output!

bonesaww666 - January 28, 2012 07:52 AM (GMT)
The first round he tried to exterminate the Herald but since he was on a corner he could only get 6 attacks, first round he was at -1 to hit and I only had to make 1 or 2 saves, round 3 he crushed him and subsequently the unit!
Since I just sold him my OK army I suppose future battles may play out differently!
