Hello everyone!

So I have been a warhammer player for just about a year now, so am still fairly new to the game but have familiarized myself quite well with 8th ed rules. I currently play Tomb Kings and I also own Bretonnia. I am posting here on the forums because I am wanting to start a Forces of Destruction army and I believe I will choose that to be Daemons!

So I have 0 models so far, but am looking for advice on what to buy to start my army and what are the "good units" and "bad units". Because I made that mistake with my Tomb Kings and bought things because they looked cool, but their function is very low :(

Post like this makes me jealous I will never again be able to "start daemons".. I still pick out that first Bloodletter I painted a few years ago and just pet it with a little tear in my eye.. ;)

I don't think you run the same risk of building a sub-par army from choosing the models you like - not with Daemons! Despite 8th Ed coming along the internal balance is still pretty damn good.

If I were you I would save bulking up on these units if you want to get really competative really fast:
- Screamers, Horrors, and DaemonPrinces.

The rest of them are good. Seekers are a little bit tricky to use, but to write them off as crap is just wrong. Screamers and Horrors are not crap either - just a bit behind when it comes to internal balance.

What you'll find with the Daemon Prince is basically that as soon as you kit it to become "viable" you're spending enough points to get a (much better) Greater Daemon instead. That's the catch 22 about the DaemonPrince.

So yeah it really is all about what kind of models you like and what kind of list you want to build. If you spend a few hours sifting through this forum you'll find lots and lots of help concerning the details - but what I have written above is probably the most important blanket "rule of thumb" that you need.

you missed beasts of nurgle... reign... they are another unit that people tend to avoid... way to expensive for the costage

fortuantely, LAV kitsune has written an absolute ton of things on this forums detailing which units are good and which are sub par, the information is out there, you just have to find it :P

hey Koewl its been almost two months since you posted this, i was wondering what way did you go finally and also was it fruitful, or would you of been a different way? thanks, i still didn't buy any units, still undecided lol! thanks
