So I'm thinking of joining a league for WHFB soon with my DoC. I'm having too much fun with this! Just recently started painting a lot of my Letters too! Can't wait to finish them :)
Well in most my lists I have been fielding Fiends. A lot of people from my previous thread about them talked about their warmachine, mage and shooting unit hunting capabilities.
Now I have used them to hunt Empire snipers so I see how they can hunt shooting units down well with their nice speed. Also I can see how they can take on mages by themselves. But why are they considered Warmachine hunters too? A lot of the warmachines I have seen my friends fielding have T6,7 or 10. What is the Fiend's purpose in this situation? Why are they considered good against Warmachines?
My guess is strictly to tie them up so they can't shoot...clarification on this?
You use the warmachines Toughness value when shooting at it. You use the crew's Toughness in combat (generally 3, or in the case of dwarfs 4). So not only do they tie them up, they tend to kill them too.

What about steam tanks? Thanks for your reply!
Steam tanks you will want to avoid with them. Mainly want to take those out with spells.
