Title: Hell demons!
Sherlocko - January 29, 2011 08:41 AM (GMT)
I usually hang out on Herdstone but since I am picking up demons I might as well share here as well. My idea is to make a demon army more based on a hellish/Clive Barkers Jericho kind of world than a Warhammer Fantasy.
So here is a mock up for horror and bloodletter. Need to work on my blood recipe, and have more bladey arms for them.
Oh, and how are these units normally kitted out? Unit size and command options and such.
LAV-Kitsune- - January 29, 2011 11:13 AM (GMT)
Ah, such an lovely idea. Your horror might actually be a flamer as well, as it looks like throwing some fire ball in there. Your letter looks absolutely brutal and a lot scarier than original ones, it is like mass murderer or something.
Bloodletters are usually deployed in a horde formation of 30 or more models and horrors depending on what you want, 10 horrors bunker for a herald or 40 horrors main caster.
Sherlocko - January 29, 2011 02:41 PM (GMT)
Thanks! I was thinking of doing something similar when doing flamers, but instead base them on gors, and have their entire lower body consisting of flames, a little ifrit-esque or how you can say.
Do you go full command everywhere? I guess you should, but I have to think about how to model musicans then...
LAV-Kitsune- - January 29, 2011 03:50 PM (GMT)
Melee units will likely want full command with them, but units like horrors benefit little from champions and musicians and will likely only need standard for scenarios like blood and glory.

Hey Sherlocko, it'd be good to see you around here more often! If you're in Clive Barkers' head then this could be some army. Love the Ifrit idea!
I always put a Musician in Horrors for the quick reform. Horrors, for me, are all about the "Gift of Chaos" spell. For some reason my opponents hate that spell and I love it as it can be cast into/while in combat. With the 3D6 wounds banner a magic phase for a unit of Horrors in combat can be pretty slick.

THIS! On my last game against Skaven gift of chaos managed to kill lone warlock, panicked clan rats, destroyed damaged doomwheel, killed one weapon team and killed some models from steadfast blocks, all with one spell! It is absolutely marvelous spell if you get your horrors to the right spot.

And the thing we all like is that I can throw 6 dice at it and if it goes IF, I lose an average of 3-4 Horrors. B)

Very much WIP of my Khorne Herald, with a bloodletter prototype for scale comparison next to it. Still need to cover up some parts, probably with fur or if I feel gutsy, I might just try to go with flesh...:)
Talonz - February 24, 2011 05:40 PM (GMT)
What the heck is that model??

Ya', it's a Rat Ogre. I've never been into Skaven but they sure have some nice models.
Sherlocko, I'm really liking what you're doing with your stuff, but I'd like to make a suggestion:
For your "Horrors", I feel you should make the flames with more true yellow and reds. The flames match their fur and end up looking like balls of...fur. I don't think you're going for that effect. Try something different, but accurate -- build the flames up from yellow first, then orange for a highlight on the prominent areas and then red and then a red black on the tips and very edges. Basically the light and heat are coming from the centre of the fire, not on the tips, like a lot of people paint it. It's a little trickier, but I think you'd really appreciate the results.
Keep going with the cool stuff!
Sherlocko - February 24, 2011 07:54 PM (GMT)
Their fur is actually meant to be fire, but I see your point. I am using foundation yellow and it is a bit too brown for my taste...well, I´m working on letters now anyway so we´ll see if I can get my hands on another yellow before the next batch. :)
But, as stated on herdstone, I won´t paint fire "right" because of two points. I´m a bit lazy and it is more work, plus I think that "wrong" fire looks better aesthetically. :)
And yes, it is a Island of Blood Rat Ogre. The other one will probably end up as a bloodletter filler, or maybe a crusher...:)

Big update time! :D
But I forgot the pictures of my Khorne herald in my camera...well, will have to gimp them tomorrow.
First up is a bloodletter unit filler....or a bloodcrusher, I´m not sure yet.
First bloodletter in the way I want them. Will do more when I get helmets...
The back of my Khorne herald...will get more pictures soon.
And finishing off with my Tzeentch herald
Noisy Assassin - March 7, 2011 08:34 PM (GMT)
That hellish baby with teddy bear is one of the creepiest models I have ever seen... 0.o
Sherlocko - March 8, 2011 03:09 PM (GMT)
Some out-of-focus pictures on the Khorne Herald! :D

At least for my khorne models it´s what I´m going for kind of. Too bad I´m not to fond of metal models really..but I´ll perhaps add some later down the line, when they have released more new stuff since the rebooting.
Sherlocko - March 14, 2011 07:17 PM (GMT)
Extremly early WIP for my Horror unit filler...needs more fire!
Sherlocko - March 21, 2011 08:02 PM (GMT)
Waiting for helmets for my bloodletters/horrors so in the meantime those are very much in parts.
But couldn´t resist assembling a fury prototype.
Noisy Assassin - March 21, 2011 08:50 PM (GMT)
Likin' the Fury! Unit filler looks like it'll be sweet and creepy once it's done.
Vaguely Sane - March 21, 2011 09:08 PM (GMT)
that unit filler is rather tasty :P
keep up the awsome work!
Daemonblood - March 26, 2011 01:57 PM (GMT)
really like this log, very original
Sherlocko - March 26, 2011 04:12 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the kind words. Will try to work a couple of hours on normal RnF tomorrow but I still wait for helmets, and I´ll probably still need more than I have coming my way. But well, I´ll solve it somehow. :)

that baby.....
Nice alternative to daemons, very mind twisting indeed!
I especially like what you did with the HoK, gives me ideas for my Rat Ogres that are collecting dust.
Sherlocko - April 25, 2011 07:15 PM (GMT)
Early WIPs. Still need to fix the bases and the arm joints and such.
Beastlord Karankawa - April 25, 2011 08:42 PM (GMT)
Sherlocko - amazing ideas you have there! Really like the bloodletter concept model as well as the furies!
Sherlocko - May 8, 2011 06:02 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to show how much washes does in absolutely no time so snapped some before and after shots
And all of them. But I probably need better pictures...

Cool idea sherlocko, love the hell-theme!
Sherlocko - July 6, 2011 06:06 PM (GMT)
Small update. Also have a similar filler and a second bloodletter standard done.
Oh, and the batteries in the camera died so bad pictures, as usual, from the phone.
Talonz - July 6, 2011 07:17 PM (GMT)
Not a fan of static fillers.
The models look great though. Whats happening with the far front right one??
Sherlocko - July 6, 2011 09:03 PM (GMT)
The far right one is a herald, not a horror. :)
And the filler will probably look more "in place" when all the army is done with more pillars, especially when placed on a planned display tray.
Noisy Assassin - July 7, 2011 02:58 AM (GMT)
Nice! I actually like fillers like that as long as they are themed and consistent between the whole army (which it sounds like this will be).
Sherlocko - July 9, 2011 01:13 PM (GMT)
Better pictures! :D
Army so far (useless picture)
Bloodletters so far
Horrors so far

I need some input here. I really, really want to get a cockatrice and it would be fun to paint it in some hellish colour scheme and use it in this army. I thought at first that I could use it as a fiend of slaanesh, but those only have 40x40mm base, right? An that seems a bit too small for the model. Would it be a stretch to have it count as something else? If so, what could be appropriate? Lord of Change, Herald on disc...or what else are based on 50x50mm base?
