Progress report
So, another week into the project, and things are starting to take some shape. First and foremost this week; the first council of Warmakers has been chosen. The council is a body of people who will organise the ideas of the members and make sure all the potential and energy of the forum is put to good use. Although they will not strictly act as the deciding force, regular members will still make the decisions; they will act as guides, presenting the various ideas around in a clear way so that everyone can decide which they like more. This will help the forum become a bit more organised, and is vital for making any choices. Although its great that people have ideas of their own and ad their own thoughts and variants to already existing settings, having a discussion about an idea where no one is really discussing the same thing just doesn’t work.

The council has quickly started to work with the issue of where to place this campaign, and I hope that within a not so distant future we can present the three major ideas (Estalia, Southern Continent and the Dark Lands) to you in an organized fashion with some basic info and fluff, so that you can evaluate them and give your opinion on each of them.
Before leaving the subject of the council, I’d like to thank Deathmaster Mik for giving us a gentle nudge (gentle for a Skaven that is) in the right direction on this, his suggestions helped a lot with the organisation of things, and the project in general.

On the topic of other progress during the week, things are generally starting to take a bit of shape and the forums are starting to get a bit more organised now that the first wave of ideas has been put in place. Now comes the hard work of sorting the good ideas from the bad, and eventually come to a final decision on it. Although thankfully there is a way to go before we need to finalise everything. On the advertisement front, Woodpecker has been trying to organise things a bit there, and it is looking rather good. Two weeks into the project, and we are at starting to get the hang of things, even if there is still a long way to go.

Reaching out
It is obvious that we are doing something right with the advertisements, because many new forums have joined the campaign over the week. We now have 14 different forums on the list, and the total membership of the participant forums now reach over 8500! Of course, there are many people who exist on several forums, and everyone will not be interested in the campaign, but our message is still reaching out to a staggering amount of people. And amongst those people hide the individuals with the drive and determination to see this through, and the skills to make it all work.

As for members, the site continues to draw them at an astonishing rate, although not quite at the same level as the beginning (we now “only” draw about 3-5 people a day, horribly low don’t you think?) and discussions on the campaign are being held both here and on the participant forums. Although I must admit I think an alarming amount of new members seem to come from the shady and ill reputed place known only as The Underempire. Several reports have been filed on strange triangles appearing on walls, and people have been found lying on the ground in shock, mumbling incoherently after accidentally hearing something that rumours claims to be “Skaven poetry”. Of course, the officials denounce this as nothing more than hearsay, as we all know the Skaven are only a myth used to scare children, nothing more…

The future
In the near future, the council will work a bit on the three main ideas for the setting and present them back to the rest of the members of the forum so that the true work of selecting one of them and fleshing it out can begin. Although we must be careful not to rush into this, we don’t want to chose to quickly and end up regretting the decision.
We also hope to start reaching out to some of the larger sites out there, like Druchii.net. Perhaps some of them will not be willing to join in just yet, but with any luck we can at least get permission to advertise Warmakers there, to draw more people to help build this campaign. The more people from different places that offer their input, the better we can make the campaign suite the different races of the Warhammer world.

The GW issue
There has been a lot of talk about GW here, which is quite natural, so I’d like to end this text with a discussion on that topic. We have all heard the rumours of GW coming in and shutting down fan-sites and stopping people from doing things like what we are doing here. However, we should all also know not to put to much stock into rumours, but listen to the facts instead. So I would like to ask you all a favour. If you have any experience in contact with GW, if you know firsthand how GW handles fan-sites and fan-projects, then speak up.

We need to know what to do. Should we contact GW and make sure they are OK with this, or does contacting them just risk them stopping us? Or should we perhaps keep our mouths shut as to not wake the sleeping lion, or would they then stop us because we never contacted them? These decisions need a foundation, it needs facts.
Remember, if a friend of a friend told you, it does not count. We need firsthand information.

End Rant
So that all I had to say for this week, and it even became a bit longer than I had expected. Remember, like it said in the first weekly, just contact me if you have something you would want in here. Now I shall retreat into the chaos realm to rest a bit...
