Title: A Tribute to the Dark Gods
Description: Project on chaos knights.
Khatsoo - June 26, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
Well. My first topic in the painting area. I wanted to introduce myself (as a painter) in this topic. This project, the one that I'm working in right now, is just based on painting the unit of Chaos Knights. The fact is that each knight will be marked to a different God and there will be another one bearing the Star of Chaos undivided. So yeah, it makes 5 knights, the ones included in the box.
I am doing this project to test the new washes before starting the army of daemons seriously. And yet to try some other methods or color schemes, a part from bases.
I took this knights as they were the only minis resting unpainted in my collection. I know they aren't daemons, but as I don't have painted daemons I think you won't care commenting on this, as it will give me hints for the upcoming daemon miniatures.
I'll try to have done all of them during this week (as I'm in holidays finally, and I couldn't do anything during the end of the classes).
Finally, just wanted to know your opinion about my painting and more on the bases, as I'm not good with bases but wanted to try this rock/lava style and if it could fit well daemons.
So here's the first one: Khorne Knight. Enjoy, and comment! ;)

strong red colour, i like it alot! the armour looks very good, aswell as your cloths!
the base is great too IMO, it reflects well that there is something underneath that sand. It's minimal, but that is what is making it good. Maybe some dry or burnt grass to add on the base to make it a tiny bit more interesting would look great aswell.
Khatsoo - June 26, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
Thanks Mallekha!
Probably I'll make it minimal for most core, but I was thinking of adding like big rocks or whatever heavy to GDs and big base models. Anyway, probably I'll add some kind of lil rocks to bases to, to reflect the kind of ground they're walking in.
Any ideas for burnt grass? Black coated grass I'm thinking.. but not sure about the result. And could try the dry grass too..
Khatsoo - June 27, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
Progress on Nurgle..

I just realised now that I missed the tail :ph43r:
Slaanesh - June 28, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
I like the colour of the armor...very Nurglish
Khatsoo - June 29, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
Here it is! Nurgle knight ready to ride!
Any comments? n.n
Now I'll go for the Slaanesh one.
Suggestions?
Beastlord Karankawa - June 29, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
Both knights are very very nice! The Nurlge one is my favorite so far with the colors and conversion work.
Atrocity - June 29, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
I really love that Nurgle knight! Looks great!
Scelerat - June 30, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
My suggestion for Slaanesh is to please keep away from pink. Really. Pink is horrid.
A white armour should be cool. Or something like that. But with the painting skill you have, hell, you can paint it in orange and fuchsia, it will look ace!
Khatsoo - June 30, 2008 12:20 PM (GMT)
Thanks to all of you.
Beastlord, the other day I was checking your work on the Herd's forums and gotta love it!
Scelerat, I don't feel like painting pink too, but fuchsia or deep purple seems great. I'll be thinking in adding some white too. But I don't see orange.. x)
Phhazool - June 30, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
They look really good. I like the muted tones and the bases
Later

Sykstus - June 30, 2008 04:42 PM (GMT)
They're just grate, are you doing 4 riders of the apocalypse :P 4 chaos gods :P
Khatsoo - July 1, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
Slaanesh Knight is here! Ready to spread pleasure arround!
I have to say that highlightning purple is much fun and easy, and the result is great, at least for me. Nice color, huh :D
Next one.. the Tzeentchian! Suggestions as well? I've been thinking a bit, and it will look really different from the ones until now. Tomorrow morning I'll try to start.
@Phhazool: Thanks man, would you add something on the bases?
@Sykstus: Actually, 4(+1) riders of the apocalypse, as I'm adding the bringer of the chaos star, as the undivided knight. You can read it all in the first post.
See you all and thanks for comments! :)
The Dark Lord - July 2, 2008 11:16 AM (GMT)
I can't wait to see the fourth and final :D
Captin Korea! - July 2, 2008 01:50 PM (GMT)
I do like those purples that you wave used!
Khatsoo - July 2, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)
@The Dark Lord: There you have the fourth, but not the last. :D
@Captin Korea!: Liche Purple and Skull White adding. A part from black wash at the beggining and Purple wash at the end. I'm really happy with the result. And if I'm not wrong, you're a Slaanesh player, so you could try this colours and tell me.
So here it is, the Tzeentch Knight! The flaming cape riding boy! With a trumpet! :ph43r:
I started this morning and worked hard on it so I could finnish it today.
Now that the four apocalypse knights are done and the four dark gods are pleased..
..It's time to make a leader for all of them! The bringer of the Star of Chaos, a pure chaos rider, The Undivided Knight!!
Let's see if I can finnish him off tomorrow or at least friday so.. this weekend I could start buying
DAEMONS!!!
Omfg yes.. I need daemons.. :D
The Dark Lord - July 3, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
Sweet! :D I really like the results on all four, and I can't wait for the Undivided one.
I really should start painting too, I've got the 10 Bloodletters in the Daemon box to paint before I want to buy new ones. It's been a while since I painted, so I need to get my skills back up to snuff. :)

I'll give it a try with my Emperor's Children's army/ what little armor there is on the daemonettes
Khatsoo - July 3, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
@TDL: Thanks!! :rock:
All I can say is that painting is fun, and you can do it alone! o.o
Since I don't find much time and people to battle..
And btw, Bloodletters will be probably my first daemons! :)
I'm starting the Undivided Knight now!
@CK!: I wait for pics then  I wanted to try it on daemonettes to, but have to buy first ;)
Beastlord Karankawa - July 3, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)
Excellentness! I do prefer the flames on the base as compared to the flames on the cape.
Khatsoo - July 4, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)

Mission acomplished!
I'm so happy that it seems I've improved at painting recently, anyway I'm a bit disappointed with that last one, as it's the one that I like less. I'm just proud of that banner, as it's maybe the best (semi)free-hand I've ever done. Gotta learn more, and I'll sure do it with daemons models! :P
So here it is, the mighty.. Undivided Knight!!
If I have time I'll make some group pictures.. mmm delicious!! :3
Comments always welcome! As they make me value myself a bit more and they help me working hard in the hobby! :)
So.. big picture this time!:
Cthulhu84 - July 5, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
Nice, now lets see them ranked up!
Sadistic Master - July 5, 2008 11:19 AM (GMT)
All of them are fabulous. And the banner on the undivided one is just incredible! I think you may add little writings on the scrolls on the Tzeentch knight, though.
Captin Korea! - July 5, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
I do like that banner, quite delightful!
Khatsoo - July 6, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
Thanks to all of you.
@Sadistic: I thought about doing it, so maybe tomorrow I do little things in all of them and take group pics :)
The Dark Lord - July 6, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
Sweet :D Just waiting for the group photo now :)
Khatsoo - July 7, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
So, I think that here is the end of my project. I already started cleaning a lil' Bloodcrusher, this week I'll be searching for Green Stuff and some other tools and this weekend I'll get my first Bloodletters. Sounds good! :D
So, enjoy it, and thanks to everyone who has put some interest in it, as I've been very implicated.
Let's see if soon I can post my first daemons!
Trogdor - July 8, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
Outstanding work. Very nice concept and carried out until the end in a great way. They look awesome together. I can't wait to see what you do with demons now!
The Dark Lord - July 8, 2008 09:25 AM (GMT)
I agree, you carried it out perfectly!
They certainly makes your signature stand out :D
mad lamb - July 8, 2008 12:24 PM (GMT)
Beastlord Karankawa - July 11, 2008 02:26 PM (GMT)
Congrats on your great results! That is an excelent unit.
Popgnome - July 14, 2008 08:16 AM (GMT)
Wow, your painting makes my pants fit tight.
I painted my knights with a slaanesh theme and was really happy with the way they turned out until i saw your blending and highlights. Very nice.
I agree with the others comments on your bases. I like the minimal amount of lava. Often less is more.
