Title: How many active members?
Kristov - November 5, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
Hey, I know there's over 300 registered members of the Great Daemonic Legion, but I was wondering if there is anyway to make it know how many active members there are? By that I mean it would keep a record of how many different users have logged in (not posted or anything just logged in) in say the past 30 days? Sorry, I'm just obsessed with all things about this site and was wondering.
Thanks,
Kristov

Hmmm, I can't tell you that for sure. There isn't an easy way to do that from the Admin CP that I could see. I can tell what areas of the forum get how many views in any given time frame, but that's about it. I can tell you that the painting/modeling/photography area of the forum gets more hits than all other areas of the forum combined though. I think that says something about why this place is successful. We have a great showcase of amazing and inspiring models.
Oh, but if you bring up the member list and click on each member, it shows the last activity for that memeber and that doesn't mean they have to have posted. Just logged in as them. You could do that for all 300+.......or not.

Eh, many names I'm familiar with, and see on a regular basis. That's proof
enough for me. :P

Indeed, I don't think that there is an exact way of doing it, but you can get a rough estimate by the amount of regular posters on here, which is quite large!

I don't think is THAT large, I was a lurker here for maybe 4 months and never posted XD

Yeah personally I see it as three groups of members
1) Posts 0-20 times these are usually the zero posters (a large number) or the folks who post an army list (often without reading the book. . . )
2) Posts 20-100 or so times - a good chunk of our regulars
3) Posts 100+ these are our long timers
The number cut offs are arbitrary - but if you flip through the posters lists (click the top 10 posters and then keep hitting next) I think you'll find that this is a reasonable way to split up the posters.
I think there are about 200-250 or so indivduals who fall into category 1 and 20-30 or so that fall into categories 2 and 3 respectively.

You'll actually find that statistic holds true for most every forum, just with some difference to the numbers depending on the user base.

Yeah I believe this is fairly standard. I think our board may have a few more in the 2-10 posts group than many.

ive just looked through roughly on the members list
your right!

@trogdor (love homestarrunner.com -the funniest site on the planet ever!!!!)
it kinda reflects the type of people attracted to the dl list - as it says on the gw site aomewhere - the list attracts the best painters, modellers and gamers out there.
(all i need to do know is learn how to sculpt...)

I was rocker goth for so long, now I'm getting ready to be a teacher so I cut that hair, put on that tie, and wiped of that make up, but always keep some d6's handy.

Well I'm still alive b ut not doing the Deamonic Legion anymore, I did a marauder army and now planning to do a (mixed) Carnival of Nurgle list.
Still I have to say this forum is a great one and the best Deamonic Legion forum no doubt ;)
Ciao.

Well, thanks. Hopefully the DL bug bites you again and you do some more cool stuff to share with us.
As for me, I'm neither "rocker" or "goth". I do enjoy my rock music, but then again I like movie soundtrakcs, solo acoustic guitar (English, Celtic, Hawaiin), and lots of everything else except country and rap.

I'm active...
(I hope)
maybe a little less than before, but its winter here and I have the 'forest spirit' special rule...
As for rocker/goth/metal kids liking DL, well, its an army of Daemons after all ( and just think of all those skulls and darkness ;) )
