REMOVAL OF STANCES

ok ea made a really stupid mistake by implanting these new stances so i say they be taken away so that more powers can be usuable and so we can improve upon ea's mistake. whos with me

If you've played the beta you should know my thought on stances.

Plus formations pretty much cancel out any usefulness of stances, except they do it in a much better way IMO.

oh, i don't reallly look at stances but at powers. i taught myself not to look at them

Stances were stupid from the start IMO, formations look and are so much better, stances have no visible changes and are completly unrealistic, i would say to swap them for different formations, and perhaps have like a cycling button, ie, click it fo get formation 1, click it again to get formation 2, click it again to get formation 3, and finally click it to return to default line formation,

Interesting idea. Don't know if it's possible, but would certainly be very interesting

It might also be quite tough to come up with formations.

But wouldn't that be fun! This could also be a trait to differentiate between crack troops and greenhorns. Every horde could have between one (orcs) and 3 (elven/nûmenorean) formations.

Yeah that would be cool. I couldn't really imagine orcs lining up tightly, with shields locked together forming a phalanx

I may have a way to do the formations, but it seems messy (basically what Soicx said). It would be a lot better if we (meaning I ) could use the stance-type button for it (i.e. single button in the palantir, you click it and get a few options). Unfortunately, I can't think of a way how to do that of the top of my head.

Yeah, i tried messing with the stances for quite a while but for different reasons. Thats why i want EA to make the code open source as their last act while still holding the license. Hardcode obstacles make me weep.

But the cycling is easy, i believe. Each new formation gets a new horde commandset. The same button can very easily activate the next formation.

It's not that, it's just that the formations are hardcoded to be one per unit. I believe there is a way to give variations (with a sort of click-this-many-times-to-access-this-formation method), but no way that I know of to do what we wish.

I dont know if this would work, but could you not just change the functions of the standard stances, so that the formations are used instead of the stances.

also btw, i now have some professional video making software, and capture software, so if you need a trailor video making, ill be happy to do it. i ccan do moving images too, ie for advertising it on forums etc, i find a moving image draws more attention and appeal than a static one. i have finished my exams, so have endless free time for ideas, testing etc.
