H I A T U S

Vesperarium is currently on hiatus until the Spring. As you all know, the site has been slowing down for the past couple of months, and the Staff has been trying to find ways to spruce up member activity. While some of it has been successful, the Staff has decided to take a little break to regroup and come up with more ideas to make the site more enjoyable for you.

Don't worry though! Vesperarium won't be entirely shut down during the hiatus. We'll be keeping some sections such as the Galleries and Learning forums open for you to use while you wait.

So it's a small good-bye for now, but we hope you'll all join us again in the Spring for our grand re-opening. See you soon!
xoxo Vesperarium Staff

I have been dying to get this type of coloring for a while, but haven't found any tutorials for it on the web. So yesterday I was just screwing around, trying to make a header for my gallery, when finally I got it! (or at least it is highly similar to the coloring I was trying to figure out) Funny thing is I wasn't even trying to go for that sort of coloring when make this. Point is, I thought you all would like to give it a try.

This tutorial is PURELY a coloring technique and it does NOT work with all pictures. I tried using it on my current Griffon avatar and it came out fugly. So don't be discouraged if yours doesn't come out the way you want it to, it could just be the picture or you could just need to fool around with the "formula" more.

This isn't translatable because it uses selective coloring. Sorry. =[

And I swear it isn't fancy. You'll get done in three easy steps. Now without further blabbering:

STEP ONE: Crop your image to whatever it's going to be; avatar, signature, etc. Mine was just, uh, a header, though technically I'm not planning on adding text right now so we'll put it under misc. AND HERE IT IS THAT FINE PIECE OF MISC.:

STEP TWO: I'm assuming if you're taking this tutorial, you know where things are. Which is why I'm not going to tell you how to make a new CURVES layer. *isopenlybeinglazy* And these are the CURVE layer settings:

RGB1
INPUT: 172
OUTPUT: 215
RBG2
INPUT: 51
OUTPUT: 74
RED1
INPUT: 142
OUTPUT: 161
RED2
INPUT: 48
OUTPUT: 103
GREEN
INPUT: 109
OUTPUT: 130
BLUE
INPUT: 139
OUTPUT: 157

After all that, I got this:

STEP THREE: Now it's time for the big bad selective color layer! Now, I mentioned earlier I was lazy, so basically if it's not listened it's gonna be on 0. (i.e. - If it says Reds and listed under it there is no setting for the magentas the magentas are just to remain at 0)

REDS
Cyans: -44
Yellows: +44
WHITES
Cyan: -20
Neutrals
Cyan: +23
Yellow: +20

And this is what I have now:

STEP FOUR: Our last step! This layer is going to be a channel mixer layer. Like the selective color, if it's not named it just remains at it's original setting. Comprande? COMPRANDE? *isprobablyspellingcomprandewrong*

RED
Red: +90
GREEN
Green: +90
BLUE
Blue: +110

And here is my final product:

Feel free to experiment with this to your guys heart's content, and please post your results here! I'd love to see the graphics made with this coloring. =]

NOOOO!!! I really wanna see it too, it's a stupid 18-rating over here. dry.gif
Everyone was raving about it, but it's kinda an underground thing I guess that's why there aren't any copies online. sad.gif I only heard about it through the ELLE photoshoot (and because Jamie Bells is HOT STUFF). So, yeah. That was completely unhelpful.
