A light brown cub lay at the bank of the stream, where hw was left two days before. Three black tear markings stained his fur along his cheek. His forest green eyes were closed, but he wasn't sleeping. He had learned how to keep his hearing accute, as well as his smell, by keeping his eyes closed when no one was around. His mother had tought him not of love, but of how cold the world could be. He knew nothing of this love, onley anger, sorrow and a feeling deep in his stomach he couldn't recognise. He was a year or so old, hardly old enough to be alone. Slowley he heard footsteps along the bank.

(any one? want to adopt Rain as their son?)

A Marabou Stork was walking slowly down the shore, looking for a quick meal. His red eyes scanned the water for any fish life.. None, but shat ould you expect from such a lifeless place.. He suddenly snapped his jaws, catching a small snake and swallowing it down. "It's better than nothing.." His red eyes suddenly focused on the year old cub who had his eyes closed... Was it dead? He slowly crept up, tilting his head. He poked the cub with his sharp bill, to see if any life was still in it.

A young lioness walked down the banks. It had been a long day for her. The usual outcasting of herself and ignorance to morals had been accompanied by the loss of a member of the pride she considered not only valuable but also a friend. This had her irritated, of course. Not to mention she was somewhat downhearted. Rebel's green eyes raised up to see a still cub with some bird prodding it. "Hey," she called running at the marabou stork.

Gus saw the lioness charging and flapped up onto a elephant skull. He spread his wings and squawked down at the approaching lioness. "Is he yours? If not, I'd be thrilled for him to stick around for dinner.." His red eyes looked over to her as he perched safetly ontop of the skull.

Rain opened an eye "Na I'm alive you stupid bird, anyone could see I was breathing." He staggered up, his skin sticking to his ribs. He swayed to one side, and cot himself, eyeing the bird. "and sorry i dont think I can stay." He turned his back on the stork and gave a small bow to the other lion. "Black rain at your..." Rain started to sway agian, and sat down "sorry, Black Rain at your service, but call me Rain, may I ask who you might be?" His vision was starting to swim, but he tried to act as if he felt fine. He knew anyone would take him and could make a nice meal out of him if he showed too mutch weakness.
