Hi,
I'm finally getting around to painting my Skorne so I need to properly decide on a colour scheme. At the moment the only Skorne I have painted are Guardians and Immortals, and my choice of colour scheme didn't really matter with them! ![]() I went with yellow and black, and I'm not sure how it looks - what do you think? Should I go with this for my army or should I try something else? If so, any suggestions? Also, it's not exactly finished as it is, I've not picked out all the details, gems etc and I've not painted his face yet (just tried a GW wash on it to see what it'd look like) so any tips on painting Skorne skin would be appreciated! Cheers! Sean. |

The photo is quite 'blury', but I really like the yellow, especially the way you have picked out the detail.
From an artist perspective the complementary colour to that tone of yellow would be a really dark purple, like Nauseating Blue or Liche Purple and a 3:1 Purple Ink/Black Ink wash. Just my opinion. I'm sure others will have better ones though. |

In all honesty, I agree with that one. The yellow armour's a nice touch but I think it's a bit monolithic at the moment. If you were to paint the, ahm, 'underneathy bits' purple and leave the plates in yellow it would break that monolith up a bit and still be quite an eccentric colourscheme (a lot of people are quite shy of the yellow/purple complementary because they think it'll look rubbish. It doesn't.). I'd be tempted to do the black bits purple instead/as well as this: in my opinion too much black in a colourscheme just makes the model look unfinished, whereas a very dark complementary colour ties those areas in with the rest of the model as well as allowing you a more natural highlight than those extreme white-on-black jobbies. -------------------- |
