Title: Victory Points And The Accumulation Thereof
Description: plus a limited edition bonus question!
BlasterBonatti - August 1, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
Do the following things award vps?:
1/ Inert warjacks.
2/ Disabled warjacks.
3/ Units with only one model remaining (or at least considerably less than starting
strength).
4/ Dismounted dragoons.
5/ Witty jibes.
Very Special Limited Edition Bonus Question!:
When does shield wall expire? Is it at the start of the unit's next activation or during it's controllers maintenence phase? I ask because it cropped up today that a blast scattered onto a unit during it's controllers turn, the unit had been in shield wall the last turn but had not yet been activated this turn. Turned out the blast was in their back arc anyway so it didn't matter then, but it'd be good to know for the future.

1/ If by inert you mean the controlling WC has been whacked, then yes you would get VPs for the 'jack.
2/ Yes.
3/ Sort of. You don't get the full amount of VPs, but at the end of the game any unit which you have put below half it's original number will give you a single VP.
4/ Nope.
5/ Depends how witty!
Bonus Question: I'm pretty sure it expires at the start of your turn, so vs things like Fire you wouldn't get the +4, and in the situation you mentioned (if the blast had been in the front arc) they wouldn't get the bonus.
What do I win? :trophy:

Shieldwall expires at the start of the maintenance phase as it lasts a single round.

Special note-
The normal rules only award VP for what is stated in the book. On the destruction of a model you score immediately for its destruction.
However events may have special rules on VPs and whether or not they are relevant and any changes there may be to normal rules - in particular there is a special VP rule called the "Attrition Rule" that usually applies in tournaments and this is what covers what Scalpel ScotlandNil says. The Attrition scores are totalled at the end of the game. In-game you still go by the normal rules.
All effects that last one turn expire at the beginning of the maintenance phase of the next player's turn (and before Continuous Effects are rolled for if that is relevant). All effects that last one round expire at the beginning of that player's next maintenance phase.
In the instance you mentioned, Shield Wall will have expired.
Edited - for the numbskull moment.
