As I've always said. This kind of crap only promotes piracy. They don't want to admit the fact that when Napster was up, CD sales skyrocketed. The people who wern't going to buy CD's were never going to buy them anyway, Napster or not. Everyone else who was on the edge had a chance to try before they buy, and were more willing to spnd money on new albums and such. Sometimes they found something new they didn't know about that the radio stations wouldn't play, and they went out and bought that too. Sony just won't admit that fact. They want the control, even at the cost of the money because

Really, it's just making them loose sales because people are not going to just buy something because PR told them to. We're moving past that. People want the freedoms to try before they buy, and know what they're getting into. Sony wants the control, and now it's spreading into gaming.

To be fair, Nintendo sued Blockbuster in 1991 over rentals, but they lost, and rentals became a major seller fo games. Hell, in the past, I rented some things to try before I buy. It's how I got into F-Zero. Now I've bought every title since with much enthusaism (as in parking outside a store three hours before they open). You take away rentals, you take away many sales, and PISS OFF many retailers (Blockbuster for rentals, and Gamestop/EB which is 60% of the marker, and now Best Buy and whoever copies them for used games).

Sony is walking a dangerously thin line here.

I say we protest then. With this given news I say we refuse to buy a PS3. Everyone here plays both PS2 and another system am I right? Settle for a 360 and a Revolution. Once Sony sees a huge drop in console sales they might reconsider their ideas. Plus by then the price of the system will be way down and the games we would have wanted. I wasn't going to buy a PS3 until DMC 4 and RE 5 were BOTH out so waiting a little longer would make no difference to me.

Yeah, that'll work. rolleyes.gif

I wasn't planning on buying their sh*t anymore, anyways. Not after the dust collector that is the PS2.

Now that I think about it this just begs for hackers to make a program that smashes down this disk code thing. Or for them to make a program that generates this code and lets you play anything....

And the more malicious hackers have now exploited Sony's code to hide viruses...

About the used games thing: I agree that it's a bad move but I never ever buy used games nor do I rent them so this whole affair doesn't concern me at all. If there are enough good games I'm sold.

You don't even bring games over to a friends house to play?

I really don't rent games that often, but I do sometimes. I usually borrow games from friends so I get away with not buying a sh*tty one, Fable for example. I don't know how you don't buy used games, though. If a game is good, but not worthy of full price, I'll wait until I can find it used somewhere.

This is crap. Half my game collection is used. And I'm always bringing multiplayer games like X-Men Legends and the WWE games over friends' houses to play.
