Eclipserush was bored.<p>
Hunting had been done for the day. The borders were being patrolled at the moment. The apprentices were out practicing. The kits were asleep. There was no chaos, nothing to calm, to laugh at.<p>
Yes, Eclipserush could find nothing to do.<p>
Usually able to find fun in the most boring situations, Eclipserush had <i>nothing</i> at this point. The siamese resorted to laying in the sun in the middle of camp. It was rare for Eclipserush to ever lay in the sun. <p>
The warrior watched the quiet, empty camp through half open eyes, his tail flicking lazily in the dirt. He purred gently, enjoying the feel of the sun against his fur. As bored as he was, the sun did feel nice today...<p>
Eclipserush sighed gently, opening his eyes wider. Where was everyone?

ooc this post is the worst in the history of posts
A tall, thin form slipped into the camp, casting a long shadow. The head of the silhouette was oddly deformed. Kitesun glanced around the camp, a rabbit swinging from his jaws--the prey was the reason for the odd shadow. His gaze rested longingly on the nursery for a moment before he padded over to the freshkill pile, depositing his fresh catch beside a rabbit he had already caught that morning. His eyes roamed over the rest of the camp, which was empty, lazy, baking in the hot sun. He caught sight of a pale form lounging in the sun and his eyes narrowed. Took in the dark face and legs. Eclipserush. He didn't know the warrior all that well. After hesitating for a moment, the deputy walked over.

He heard the pawsteps of the approaching clanmate, and his eyes shifted toward the noise to find his deputy padding closer to him. Eclipserush didn't know the deputy as well as he liked, but nothing ill had ever been passed between the two. His tail lashing in greeting, and he nodded his head respectfully.<p>
<b>"Good afternoon, Kitesun,"</b> the warrior purred. <b>"Good catching out there today?"</b>

Kizzy - May 20, 2010 02:45 AM (GMT)

Tall grass parted like the Red Sea as Frostshadow fled through it. His ears were pinned back flat ahead his head for speed and his long, wispy tail trailed behind him like the string of a wild kite. He panted loudly with each step but tried to quicken his pace with every one he took. Was it his turn to be on the next patrol? Frostshadow wasn't sure; he couldn't remember. But if he was he was terribly late and this worry lent speed to his tiny white paws.
Most cats in WindClan knew Frostshadow was a lazy tom. He shirked from his duties as often as possible in favor of napping in the sun. But he lately he had begun to have a desire to change this opinion of him. His forgetful nature wasn't making it very easy.
Frostshadow spilled into the WindClan camp with such speed that he tripped over his own paws and went tumbling forward. He topped over in a somersault and landed unceremoniously in the dust on his back. For a few moments a cloud of dirt hung in the air around him, kicked up by his clumsiness. Frostshadow sneezed loudly to clear it and, with the air around him finally visible, he realized he had landed in front of two other cats. The first was Eclipserush, a fellow warrior. The second was Kitesun, his deputy brother. Oh, please. My karma can't be that bad, Frostshadow thought sullenly, Kitesun having been the last cat he would've wanted to had such a display in front of. Frostshadow opened his mouth to explain what had happened, but still dizzy from his tumble and a little disoriented because he was on his back all he managed to spit out was, "Uh." The dust in his mouth made it come out a little hoarse, and his embarrassment made it rather quiet, which probably didn't help to lesson the comedy of the situation.
Rainey - May 21, 2010 02:28 AM (GMT)
"Yes, actually," Kitesun said, sitting down near the warrior. Good thing, too. I'm afraid the rabbits will be getting scarce, what with the size of WindClan. He didn't want to think about that. Thinking about that made him think about Sparrowsiege and his kits and what would happen if there wasn't enough to eat... and what would have to be done in order to ensure that didn't happen. He glanced in the direction of RiverClan's territory. He could feel stress weighing down on his shoulders, making his bones creak.
"Have you been hunting yet today?" his tone was pleasant enough, but it was rather obvious he really meant, You had better have gone hunting before you laid down in the sun. His tail twitched. "Hunting is rather good near the ThunderClan border today. I would hate those forest cats to catch our rabbits."
A sudden commotion to his right caught his attention. He stared, surprised, as his brother (did he really think of Frostshadow as a brother?--let's hope not, a wry voice in his head said, because nothing good comes of the bonds between you and your siblings) sommersaulted in front of him, landing with a large cloud of dust. He blinked, both shocked and disgruntled. "Frostshadow," was what he managed to reply with, staring at the white warrior.

Eclipserush nodded, blinking. <b>"<i>Si</i>. I brought in 2 small rabbits this morning,"</b> he replied, his tail twitching in the dirt. <b>"I <I>did</i> catch those near the ThunderClan border."</b> A purr of amusement rose in his throat. <b>"Those blasted forest cats couldn't catch a rabbit if it was dead, <i>usted sabe</i>."</b><p>
He opened his maw to speak again, but the sudden jumble of pawsteps nearby made him turn, startled, just in time to see the form of Frostshadow flip and land with a loud thud on his back. Eclipserush stared at him, quiet surprised, before he laughed, not seeing the slight tension created by the two brothers.<p>

Kizzy - May 21, 2010 09:26 PM (GMT)

Frostshadow rolled quickly onto his stomach then pushed himself to his paws. He resisted the urge to shake his fur out as creating a second cloud of dust probably wouldn't have been appreciated. The skin under his fur burned hot with embarrassment. How could his brother turn one word into something so loaded with meaning? Still, Eclipserush's odd way of speaking put Frostshadow slightly at ease and the tom tried to relax. Just laugh it off, he told himself, They'll forget all about it later.
"Hah! Yes. Well. It'd sure seem like it, huh?" He meowed cheerfully before turning to press his nose into his shoulder to shield the two cats from another sneeze. The fine dirt that he landed in was still tickling the inside of his nose and Frostshadow had a feeling he'd have to dunk his head underwater before the sensation went away. "I was just...really..." Frostshadow began jerkily, still deciding what to say while he was saying it, "...excited to get here! To see if I could go on the next patrol. Yes. That was it. Always... just rarin' to go, I am." He finished lamely. He doubted either of them would buy it, but Frostshadow liked always having an excuse... even if it wasn't a very good one.
Rainey - May 26, 2010 07:40 PM (GMT)
Kitesun swept a critical eye over his brother, one ear twitching. Raring to go? For a patrol? Frostshadow? He refrained a snort of amusement. His lazy sibling could never be described with such words. He glanced back over at Eclipserush; unlike the white warrior, he did not find the dark-faced tom's speech habits relaxing, and in fact found them to be rather unsettling. He did not like not knowing exactly what the tom meant. Fur slightly ruffled from the sudden arrival of his brother (as well as his own discomfort at interacting with other cats, although he was trying to be friendlier, what with him being deputy and all), Kitesun rolled his eyes and huffed.
"Really, Frostshadow? How intriguing," he meowed back coolly, fixing his amber gaze on the warrior. "Then you wouldn't mind taking a cat or two out later to patrol the RiverClan border." He was half-hopeful that they would encounter enemy warriors, although he wasn't sure RiverClan even had warriors left. He inwardly laughed at the thought.

Eclipserush laughed aloud. Of course, he didn't believe the tom. Everyone could see how lazy poor Frostshadow was, but the Siamese could see he was...er...trying to try, anyway. He could suddenly feel the tension between Kitesun and his brother crackling in the air. Ahh. Siblings. He felt a twitch of envy, as he own brother and sister had been murdered long before he remembered. He shook it off.<p>
Brothers would be brothers, he guessed.<p>
Despite the sudden tension, Eclipserush found it all very amusing. "Es así?" the Siamese purred, lifting a foot to scratch behind his ear. "You could interpret that from your speediness, Frostshadow." Hearing Kitesun's order, the tomcat flicked an ear. "If you wish, Kitesun, I will accompany Frostshadow to the borders, está bien? Unless you wish to keep me here."

Kizzy - May 27, 2010 03:57 AM (GMT)

A tiny purr rose up from Frostshadow's throat at the suggestion of going on a patrol later. He wasn't actually interested in going. Taking a nap sounded much more appealing. But Frostshadow had long ago decided he hadn't the wit to compete with either of his siblings, and the best way to combat their sour moods was with nothing but smiles and sunshine. Besides, maybe it was time he started pulling his weight around the clan. Orrrr maybe not, his inner voice chuckled, already scheming ways to speed through the patrol and get back as quickly as possible.
"H-ey! To RiverClan? I'd be happy to! Yes. Real excited," He meowed, sort of eagerly. Frostshadow was a creature of constant indecision. He wanted to help out more, he really did. But when it came down to putting in the effort he would find himself making up excuses and squirming out of his responsibilities. Frostshadow supposed WindClan's size made the habit hard to break. There were more than enough cats to hunt and patrol and so it made it even easier for him to slack. It bothered him yet, at the same time, it didn't, and he continuously allowed himself to get away with the same behavior, over and over.
Turning to look at Eclipserush he gave a playful grin. "Es asi! I don't know what it means but it sounds great, I'd be happy to have you along." Frostshadow's pale blue eyes moved to glance at his brother as he said this, as though silently adding: If you'll let him, of course... don't make a fuss...
OOC: Oooo riverclan need some ice for that burn, rainey =P lol
Rainey - May 28, 2010 09:17 PM (GMT)
Kitesun resisted the temptation to swipe his claws across his brother's agreeable face. Purring, indeed. He made a faint noise of displeasure at Frostshadow's bluff, but the warrior was agreeing to go on a patrol, and that's all he could ask for, wasn't it? Have to be more friendly, Sheridan. Not everyone can rise up to your expectations, and Frostshadow can't even rise up to a mouse's expectations, so calm down. He caught the look his sibling was giving him; refraining from giving him a withering glare of his own, he sweeped his eyes back over to Eclipserush.
"That'll be fine, Eclipserush," he said, his tail twitching. "I'd like you to be extra vigilant. See if you can smell any recent markers at the border." He doubted there would be any, which was exactly what he wanted to hear when the two returned from their patrol.
He glanced back at his brother. He had never made any real attempt to know the white tom better. He had always cast his attentions towards their sister (his ribcage tightened at the thought). Maybe you should interact with him more. Maybe he's not entirely the incompetent mousebrain you think he is. Still, the slither of unease crawled down his spine. Kitesun hesitated, then said, "How have you been, Frostshadow?"

The Siamese licked at his paw, purring in understanding. "Por supuesto, Kitesun," the tom replied, his paw still in the air. "Though I doubt they've done much of anything recently. It's like they've all died." A quiver of unease swept through Eclipserush. Yes, RiverClan were practically their enemies, but if they really did die out, what would become of the other clans? He shook the thought away. He worried too much.<p>
He looked toward the brothers, sitting besides one another. How odd. He could feel the unease oozing off both the brothers, and even the displeasure Kitesun expressed every time his brother spoke. Eclipserush flicked an ear, resuming the cleaning of his paw as he waited for a response.

Kizzy - May 31, 2010 10:05 PM (GMT)

Frostshadow resisted the urge to roll his eyes at his brother. Kitesun did this every once in a while. He would, in little ways, seem to be warming up to Frostshadow a little. Then the instance of friendliness would pass and he would be back to his scowls. Frostshadow tried to recall the last time it happened. At a meeting, I think. Wanted me to come and have a seat next to him. Who's he think he's kidding! The white tom did not have high hopes his brother was going to start buddying up with him any time soon. He felt bad for Eclipserush. It probably wasn't much fun watching the two males stare each other down. Still, the siamese sure was taking it in stride. Why can't he act more like that? More easygoing. Life doesn't have to be all business, ya know.
Frostshadow settled on a vague shrug in response. It wasn't as though Kitesun actually wanted to know how he was, so there wasn't any reason to give an honest answer. "WindClan's healthy and tough, kits all over, any reason I shouldn't be just fine? You know me. Always doing just... great."
Rainey - June 15, 2010 09:30 PM (GMT)
Kitesun's ears twitched dismissive tone, his tail giving a small lash. "I see,"he replied. "Of course. We are doing quite... well." For now. A familiar cloud of displeasure drifted over his fur. But with new kits, with Sparrowsiege about ready to birth, with this many cats... How long would they have enough food to support the Clan? What would they do when they didn't? The ThunderClan border might suffice, for a little while. But they're tough. RiverClan wouldn't be able to fight them. But who knows how the other Clans would react.
With a blink, Kitesun brought himself back, to here and now and Frostshadow and Eclipserush. "Ah, yes," he said in reply to Eclipserush. Exactly what I was thinking. His skin itched. He wanted to go on that patrol, penetrate RiverClan territory, find Calmingstar, if he was still alive. Cut his throat. If RiverClan couldn't even keep their own Clan functional, they didn't deserve that land.

Kizzy - June 27, 2010 04:11 PM (GMT)

Frostshadow grinned at Eclipserush's comment. The image of WindClan kids knocking RiverClan warriors around was definitely a fun one. He wondered to himself was Calmingstar was up to, to let his clan grow so small. Would he ask WindClan for help when another clan decided to take advantage of it? Frostshadow glanced back at his brother. I don't think he'd find much help here, he decided, suppressing a laugh. Ratstar and Kitesun certainly did make an interesting pair. Interesting, and completely unsympathetic. They'd probably raid the camp themselves if Calmingstar ever let on that he had no chance of stopping it.
Still, all that was politics. Frostshadow never had anything to do with that nonsense. "It is pretty nice having all those kits around," Frosthshadow meowed, nodding in agreement with Eclipserush. He really did like kits. One day he wanted some, too. Little tiny versions of him. Awesome. "You must be excited, huh? How is Sparrowsiege?" Frostshadow asked suddenly, swinging his head round to look at Kitesun again. He really did genuinely like his brother's mate. She had always been friendly enough to him. She was a little... big, but that wasn't her fault, Frostshadow supposed. Besides, never nice to comment on a she-cat's size.
