YOU'D THOUGHT YOU'D FORGOTTEN

OH YOU HAD IT BUT OH NO YOU LOST IT LOOKING BACK YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE FOUGHT IT

************************

It was a lot of revelations. Ones she really wasn't sure of. Or happy with. Part of her wondered if she could change it all. If she somehow found her way back to her own time. Could she change it all? Would it make things better?

So once she finished her talk with Connor, which was just really weird, she spoke to Faith. Things weren't much better then. So she found herself wandering around the city. Somehow, her feet had led her back to where she had been found. It didn't seem like much. Just another empty place underground. Found in the winding tunnels of sewers beneath the city. If you concentrated, if you knew there was something to find, you could see it flicker. Little ripples of light. If you stared long enough you'd even see it flare, see it flicker from time to time. She missed home. She missed her friends, she missed Dennis. She missed L.A. Chicago was cold!

With a sigh she rubbed at her forehead. If she went back, she knew what decisions she would make. Would change. She just didn't know if it would be enough. Could she possibly stop all of it from happening? She groaned and closed her eyes. She wasn't the planner. Wesley was. Only Wesley wasn't here.

It had taken a confrontation with Faith to get all the information. They were dead. Fred, Wesley, Gunn. All dead. Originally she thought this was a good thing. She knew that the visions would kill her, so she survived. She was somehow, thankfully, miraculously, alive. Only she wasnt' so sure she wanted to be anymore. Not when it meant she lost literally everything she cared about. She hadn't had a family really, until L.A. She hadn't even had much in the way of friends.

Stepping closer to the barrier she licked at her bottom lip and raised a hand to see if she could feel it. "Don't suppose you'd just take me home?" she whispered.

he wasn't sure could he even concentrate. things kept piling up, things kept bothering him. but the one thing that bothered him the most was the image of Cordelia imprinted in the back of his mind. He hadn't slept the last three days now. It was almost this odd obsession. He needed to find Cordelia or he wouldn't rest. She was alive. She was actually breathing and back on Earth. Every fiber in his body wanted to go and see her. Every little molecule in his cold body wanted to go find her. But somehow, there was still something that stopped him.

what could he say to her? all those things that had happened were in the past yet Angel remembered every little detail of that kiss they shared inside Wolfram and Hart. He remembered her sweet scent. Her soft lips and just like that, she was gone. Angel could still remember the feeling when sadness twisted and turned his guts like they were nothing. Cordelia meant so much to him, yet he still couldn't lift his ass up from the chair and go find her.

Two weeks ago, Angel arrived to this brooding city. Two whole weeks and in that time Angel hadn't done anything but sat inside his motel room and sulked. What he should've done was to go find Connor. And Connor could've lead Angel to Cordelia. But did he actually managed to do this? Not even close.

Instead of finding Connor and going talk to him, Angel found him and settled for watching him from the distance. The kid was doing fine and didn't really need Angel's help on anything so why butt in? All Angel did was damage anyway.

He was done rolling in self pity right in that second when he landed back on the Earth. He heard police sirens in the distance. People's voices outside his motels rooms door. He sat in the dark, still pondering what should he do first. Either go and find Cordelia or just..disappear again. People didn't mind if he wasn't around. They just assumed he was too busy with saving the world.
Angel inhaled and tapped the arm of the chair. It had been too long since he had seen Cordelia. He missed her. There was no denying that.

So, Angel succumbed into his own feelings and finally got up from the chair. He had only one thought in his mind; he had to find Cordelia. He wasn't sure where to begin. So, he ended up going back to the source he knew would help him. The Slayer school. There, he was told that he had just missed her and he should find her somewhere in the city. Oh yeah, that narrows it down, he thought before leaving the school. Though, he did like the 'just missed part'. It meant that she couldn't be too far away.

Angel sighed. Where would Cordelia go?

Her scent was still the same, sweet yet strong. Just like her personality. He had a hard time following the scent but when he finally did find it, the trail was easy to follow. If Angel had a heart, it would've been beating out of his chest by now. He walked slowly. He swallowed when he kept coming closer.

Then a voice.

So familiar. He swallowed and heard her whisper to the portal. Angel stopped, watching the back of Cordelia Chase. He wanted to run and hug her, but knowing of Cordy, she would kick his ass for good. And then complain about sneaking up behind people. He couldn't stop the smirk creeping on his face.
" Where is home anyway?" Angel suddenly heard himself say. The smirk was gone. His hands inside his jackets pocket and the same brooding look on his handsome face were the trademarks of Angel as he waited for Cordelia to turn.

YOU'D THOUGHT YOU'D FORGOTTEN

OH YOU HAD IT BUT OH NO YOU LOST IT LOOKING BACK YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE FOUGHT IT

************************

Cordelia wasn't actually expecting an answer. After all, she was talking to some weird magical barrier. Maybe she was looking for a flicker of light, a glimpse into where it would lead her if she stepped on through. Maybe she just wanted proof that she was really there and there was no going back. That was it, wasn't it? That as much as you might want to go back, you couldn't. Really she should kick herself. She'd never been one to wallow in the past. Even when it was her mistake or her fault that things went bad. She had understood that what she had done in the past had been done. Period. There was no going back or fixing it, or changing it. The past was just that. So wallowing in it, or brooding as a certain vampire would do, was useless.

In the end, all you could do was work with what you had now. What time you had, who you were as a person. That's what you had, and there was no wasting time on what ifs or whys. Do what you can now. Don't waste it. Instead here she was indulging in a bunch of what ifs. Shaking her head she lowered her hand. Before she could chide herself she heard an answer. Well more a question.

Her body stiffened as she took a second to realize no, the magical barrier did not try and answer her! As a matter of fact, she recognized the voice. She knew it, but didn't want to believe it. Wasn't sure if she could.

Taking a deep breath she turned her head first, just to look. It was him and he hadn't changed. Well vampire, so duh. Still, she had seen him change, knew he had changed and even if he wouldn't physically change, she knew he was more than capable of it.

Her face broke out in a grin and she ran over throwing arms around his neck. "Angel!" She probably should have a million questions, worry about all that Connor and Faith had told her. Worry that he'd throw her aside, but all she could think about was how happy she was to see him. "They said you were alive but, I mean, I was so worried." Pulling back a little she smacked at his arm. "What were you doing? Brooding about being alone out in L.A.? Like you need more brood time!"
