They're deformable? Won't they crumple if you make a hard turn?
So, they might be going back to the old hub and spokes design? It has been around for thousands of years.
Interesting idea, not so sure about how long they'd last though, they would eventualy deform then you will have to buy new ones, that is why hover cars are what you need...

I am going to assume that if they ever hit production, they will be enclosed sidewalls, making them look like other types of tire, as well as help in keeping the tire in one piece. These probobly have no sidewalls just because they are prototypes displaying the technology, and black rubber sidewalls don't help much in displaying the technology.
