What is life really like in the RAF. I know some of you will of seen me ask this question many times before in other posts and forums but i have never really got a whole view. I know of course that it is very demanding etc but what is it really like and those of you who are existing or current RAF pilots it would be great to hear from any of you for your opinins. Cheers

you may find that most of the members on here are currently going through their application process. It is like a support forum for each other. Saying that we do have a few personnel looming around somewhere, and in about a month I should find out if I am in or not. I shall report from behind enemy lines....

Or you could go and take a look at the military forum on www.pprune.org and realise that life in the RAF has changed considerably over the years. If you are brave you could even make a post about what life is like, although make sure your post is in perfect English as they have a habit of pouncing on poor individuals who make simple mistakes.

I can't explain what you don't understand if you don't say what you don't understand.

Your question being so broad will probably have a different answer every time you ask..i guess that if you are very lucky to be 'posted' near your family then seeing them won't be a problem. If your serving else where you probably wont see them as often as you want to, though they will be a phone call away. Ask Wzz how much leave a pilot gets per annual year. Thats the guaranteed amount of time you will get to see your family.

General Annual leave time is answered on the raf careers website

http://www.rafcareers.com/thebigpicture/weexpect.cfm

says 30 days annual leave days plus bank holidays.
Depends on where you would end up stationed, you could be on the door step or be at the other end of the country. if your on the door step youve got alot of flexability really but if its other end of the country, you'll need to rely on the annual leave really or long weekends when it comes to bank holidays
