Ladies and Gentlemen, today we the staff and elite members of The Dark Forest give you the brand new legendary and mythic weapons as well as brand new tokens!! These weapons are the strongest weapons you could possibly get and come in three groups - Legendary Weapons, One Use Items and Mythic Weapons. While we set the new system up please make sure you vote here for a winner of the city contest.

The new tokens include steeds amongst some other special traits that may or may not change the way you view your characters.

Generic Legendary weapons:

Gorgon’s Axe (2 Handed) - An axe that has been enhanced with terrible power. Anything that comes into contact with the weapon will slowly turn to stone over 10 posts, including characters and NPC's, and does not exclude the wielder. It also doubles the physical strength of the wielder by 2x with its dark and destructive aura. The petrification can be cured by Esuna. It cannot be cured once the process is complete.

Dark Sword - The legendary sword that supposedly can wipe out entire civilizations. It was once held deep within the Granseal Vaults and guarded 24/7. Its power is deadly in the right hands and even the weak can quickly become mighty with this weapon. It gives the user the ability to control dark energy to a lesser extent and use that energy as a weapon, either in firing it as a beam or as a extension of the blade.

Sword of Light - A legendary weapon that has the power to repel powerful evil of any sort, particularly effective against naturally evil creatures. It is rumored that it had single handedly wiped out the largest army of undead in the history of the planet. This weapon gives the user the ability to control light energy to a lesser extent and use that energy as a weapon, either in firing it as a beam or as a extension of the blade.

Apollo – This holy arrow grants the wielder the powers of the sun. Lost in time, this arrow when fired turns into a blast of sunlight which then explodes around the target, engulfing the area in regenerative flames. This arrow contains the power to purge corruption and vile magic as if using the Esuna spell. The fire of this arrow causes minimal amounts of harm, and promotes new growth and regeneration.

Taurus Sword - Grants the wielder the power over lightning, gaining immunity over lightning and the power to cast lightning spells to the third tier. Said to have been wielded by Taurus in his last stand against the Machines of Granseal in the war between the mages and machinists. It is said to create thunderstorms when swung.

Edmund’s Blade: This blade was wielded by Edmund, brother to Taurus. This blade grants the power of flames, giving the wielder immunity to fire and the power to cast fire spells to the third tier. Edmund wielded his blade alongside his brother against the mages of old. It can lay down wide sheets of flame when swung.

Procious - Said to be have been wielded by Lien Greveck one the fateful day he drained Crystalia of life force. This staff has appeared time and again throughout time where ever this is an absence of life. It's true power is astronomical and can only be unleashed by Lien himself. This staff grants the wielder the power to cast Death, and the wielder is considered to have a constant Drain Essence enchanted to their touch.

Artemis - This holy arrow gives the wielder power of the moon. Lost for many ages, this arrow when fired sends a blast of dark energy that flash freezes a large area. Wounds caused by this arrow gradually get worse over time, causing fevers and festering infection, and can only be healed by Esuna AND a 4th rank or higher Cure spell.

Remus Axe (2 Handed) - Wielded by Remus against Kerlock, this weapon grants the user the power over ice. The user gains immunity from ice and learns ice spells up to the third teir. The wielder can survive in the coldest climates, and the axe is freezing to the touch.

Ring of Life – A marvel of the ancient’s power, said to be a focal source of everlasting life on Redemption. This ring contains such life giving power that it can act as an almost unlimited energy source for druidic magic. It allows Druid spells and abilities to be used without a natural source to draw from.

Shield of the Lion: A mythical shield said to have been forged by Remus and Kerlock. Given only to those worthy of gaining the title Knight of the Lion, this shield gives the bearer immunity over the Champion's Ferocious Presence. If used by a Crusader it bolsters a Crusaders rally skill, allowing it to stack with up to 10 allies, rather than 5. The shield can also emit a great roar and spread the immunity to those allies rallied with the bearer.

Armour of Ezekiel: Forged by the Dark Lord Ezekiel in the Well of Syn, this armor promotes brutality in battle, giving the wearer the physical strength of the Dark Lord. This wearer of this armor is treated as if under the constant effects of the Rage spell while in combat, causing the wearer to lust only to kill and revel in the kill just like the Dark Lord. The armor cannot be taken off once it is donned, and the effects of its magic cannot be removed. If worn by a Champion the effect is multiplied by 2x.

Lance of Methos: Crafted by means unknown, the Lance of Methos was one of the most feared weapons of it's time. This weapon when in the hands of a Dragoon enables them to maintain flight after jumping for five posts, and doubles the range of their elemental breath granted by the Familiar Dragon. In the hands of a person who is not a dragoon, this lance can fire a blast of energy at the target and has the ability to shape shift into various other monstrous weapon shapes.


One use only legendary items:

Roc’s Flight – A strange object said to be have been made by Creed as a means of travelling quickly over vast distances. This item can be used to transport a group of no more than fifty people or NPCs including any builds within a fifty by fifty metre radius. This item has a one-time use.

Heart of the Colossus: A part of the crystal heart of the colossus created by Lien Greveck. This burning orb is capable of absorbing all magical, druidic, alchemic, and psyonic energy in a huge radius and allowing the wielder to use that energy for him/herself equal to your post count. It can even absorb energy from characters and NPC's, making it impossible to cast or use skills or abilities for 5 posts. This item has a one-time use, once it has been used it will shatter.

Fruit of Knowledge: If one of these fruits is eaten, it grants the individual knowledge of all magical beings as if they have Detect rank 5. If two are eaten, the individual is also granted knowledge of all action in the world as if they had Nature's Eyes, as well as Detect rank 5. You must obtain this reward twice in order to have both effects. (Note: You must still eat two fruit to gain the full benefit of this trait, even if you already have Detect or Nature's Eyes.)

Fruit of Life: If eaten once, this fruit will grant the individual eternal life. The person will no longer age, and they can continue to live forever unless killed. If two of these fruits are eaten, the individual will not only cease to age, but they will also become "immortal". The individual can no longer be killed, though their body can still be destroyed. Immortality does not mean invulnerable, the person can still be worn out, suffer fatigue, and are subject to all other aspects of mortality. The immortal person may choose a single place in the world where their body resurrects if it is destroyed. This location cannot be changed. (Note: You must still eat two fruit to gain the full benefit of this trait, even if you already have the Eternal trait.)


The following Mythic Weapons are governed by unique rules, namely these items cannot be bought with any tokens, instead they will be given to people we see fit to wield them, this could be for being part of the Plot or for being long term members of the site. However there is a catch with these weapons, they can be stolen by other players. Please see underneath the FAQ for a new rule surrounding these weapons as well as the FAQ.

Mythic Legendaries - THESE CANNOT BE BOUGHT BY TOKENS
Ring of Farian Greveck: Granted to the first Druid by Creed himself, this ring signifies the sovereignty of Sanctuary and gives the holder command of the city's heroic statues in times of need, including those of last resort, the Bronze, Marble and Obsidian Statues of the Creators. These statues can only be used within the city walls and represent the strength of the fallen heroes.

Staff of Ellanette Selendis: Created by the Grand Mage in tribute to her two masters, this ebony and pearl staff grants the wielder mastery of DemiFlare, a spell used by her ladyship to shatter her enemies. This spell is a combination of the two which works in tandem to simultaneously weaken and devastate its target. (NOTE: This does not grant you the use of those two spells, but rather a combination of the two, resulting in a spell that is twice as strong as either of those spells.)

Feather of Eternity: Eternity was once the mighty Chocobo steed ridden by Ryant Ash, and became mother to the finest steeds of the Elven Nation and Sanctuary before falling in battle against the Dark Colossus. This feather can be given to a mount to bolsters its toughness and bravery in battle. The mount counts as having a post count equal to the character instead of the normal 1/2.

Destiny's Cloak: Worn by the Arch-Mage Destiny, this cloak weaved from unknown materials grants the owner protection from the elements of light and darkness, reducing the effect of them on the wearer by half. It also increases the power of elemental (thunder, blizzard, fire, water, ice) spells cast by the wearer by 2 ranks.

Ciara's Axe: Forged by her lover, Ciara's Axe was wielded by the Siren of Death in many battles, including those against her love. Known to charm her enemies, this axe is much like it's owner. This axe gives off a seductive scent, weakening the resolve of all around the wielder, making their movements sluggish and their attacks slower. When used on NPCs this axe grants Manipulate up to the 4th rank.

Curse of Leopold Crowley: A right arm and leg made from various metals and stones, forged by the dwarven king and bolstered by elven magic. These limbs will replace those of the person who receives them. The person will gain the knowledge of the Giga Gravitation, the spell that created the Storm of Gravija but not the ability to cast the spell. The limbs can change shape as if affected by metal alchemy and cannot be affected by alchemy. -

Kerlock’s Claymore (2- handed) – Wielded by Kerlock in his last battle against Remus, this blade grants the wielder the power to cause great earthquakes when swung. It is also said that this blade grants affinity to all known alchemic abilities as if they held an Alchemist Orb due to Kerlock's mastery over alchemy. Whoever holds this weapon is said to be the most powerful alchemist in the world.

Drake's Daikatana: Considered to be the first of the modern heroes, Drake died fighting Methos in a deadly battle at the Prism Ruins. His daikatana thought to be lost, is said to be the embodiment of a water dragon. This blade when used drips with water, almost as if it is crying. This blade boosts water spells and water alchemy by 2 ranks and tiers, whilst also giving the spell Watergana to the wielder.

The Girasame: The holy blade of Redemption, this sword was forged by pure hands and as such can only be held by those deemed to be the purest in the world. This blade has a grand legacy to match it's awesome power. This blade is capable of granting the wielder the control of the Holy Spell. Whom ever is struck by the blade begins to feel an absolute peacefulness wash over them, removing hate, fear, doubt, love, kindness, empathy, sympathy, emotion, desire and regret. The end result turns the victim into a truly pure being whilst still in the presences of the blade, this effect passes once the victim has left the topic. The wielder must be pure and in no way deviate from that lest the blade reject them as the owner.


The tokens, these have also be changed from the current list

Green Token Rewards

Permanently raises your alchemy technique power by 1/5 of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

Permanently raises your dark mage technique power by about one sixth of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

Permanently raises your druid technique power by about one sixth of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

Permanently raises your mage technique power by about one sixth of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

Permanently raises your psychic technique power by about one sixth of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

Permanently raises your warrior technique power by about one sixth of your level. You can take this trait up to 5 times for a max of double your power.

+10 Post Count

Second Character Slot- Opens up the second character slot for a Dark Forest character. Note that this can alternately be earned by raising your post count to 100 posts with no additional cost.

Wings - Your character or steed can gain wings, enabling flight without the use of magic or abilities.


Yellow Token Rewards

+20 Post count

Third Character Slot- Opens up the third and final slot of a Dark Forest character. You must have the second slot opened to open the third.

Telekinesis - You or your steed has minor telekinesis allowing you to move small items with your mind. This can act like a minor Evocation or Push with a force of up to ten pounds or lifting 1 square foot of material.

Barter: You gain remarkable haggling skills, this token enables you to buy weapons at a cheaper rate. First token allows you to by them at 3/4 post count, second allows you to buy them at 1/2 and third allows you to buy them at 1/4. This token is not available to warriors, and only applies to weapons that can be purchased in the DF Equipment Center.

Dark Vision: Your character has adapted to the darkness and can see, even in the faintest of light.

Farsight: Your character can see well for many miles as if equipped with binocular vision.

Lightning Rod: Your body has a special polarity that attracts lightning and lightning magic unless under the control of an alchemist.

Water Walk: Without the use of water alchemy, your character has discovered the secrets of water walking!

Unbreathing: Your character has superseded the need to breathe. You no longer require air to sustain your life.

Green Thumb: You can promote the growth of a rank 1 Growth spell even if there is no natural energy source.

Shifter: You can shift your form and become half man/half (insert animal here).

Steed Armour: This token lets you put heavy armor on your steed increasing their post count scaling to 1/2 your own.


Blue Token Rewards

+30 Post Count

Eternal: You were granted eternal life by some otherworldly powers. You no longer age.

Dark Defense: Your character has grown accustomed to dark energy. They resist dark energy as if it was only half strength. You subsequently take more damage from light energy equal to 1.5x the normal strength of the attack.

Light Defense: Your character has grown accustomed to light energy. They resist light energy as if it was only half strength. You subsequently take more damage from dark energy equal to 1.5x the normal strength of the attack.

Swarm: Your can turn your body into a swarm of small creatures (bats, bees, birds, etc). Each creature is a part of you, and you will be damaged if a creature is damaged. If any creature is affected by a spell or ability (Poison, Haste, Protect, Anti-Magic, Esuna, etc.) then the entire swarm is affected as well.

Dragonscale: Your body is resistant to magic because of the properties of your dragon scales. You resist blizzard, fire, and thunder spells, allowing you to wade through these elements to a degree without taking damage. You can ignore level 3 or lower elemental spells in this way.

Magic Eater: When you null magic with the Null-Element spells, you absorb the nulled spell and gain back magic energy equal to the strength of that spell.

Putrid Body: Your body is constantly surrounded by a cloud of noxious gas. Anyone who comes close to you is afflicted with Poison.

Regenerate: Lesser physical wounds you sustain heal rapidly. Major physical wounds heal faster than normal, but take longer than small wounds.

Blood Drinker/Cannibalize: You can gain health from drinking blood or eating flesh as if you were under the effect of Cure.

Elemental Breath: You or your steed can breathe either, fire, ice, lightning or acid for 10 feet. By purchasing two more tokens you can increase the amount by 5 feet, and up to 20 feet maximum range.

Steeds: You may pick one land based steed of your choosing to be confirmed by two members of staff, one member of staff must at least be an admin. Every steed is a 1/4 of your post count.

Legendaries & Mythic Weapons: SEE ABOVE.

Dual Classes - Your secondary class can be the same as your original class. This benefits Mages, Alchemists and Warriors only. Warriors can pick up a second weapon-tech line and acquire a Prestige class, Mages can pick up a second spell tree (Sentinel, Guardian, or Temple), and Alchemists can acquire another Alchemy as if they had taken it as a secondary class while still gaining a Master alchemy.


FAQ

Q. What are the one use legendary items?
A.These are unique items that can be bought for a gold token, they are all very powerful but very abundant.

Q. Why would I want to use a gold token on a one use item when I can get something as cool as the Sword of Light?
A. Well first starters the Sword of Light is about as cool as having your sister be your date to the formal. Also, immortality. Also mass silence.

Q. What's the deal with the Heart of Colossus? What does it do?
A. The Heart of the Colossus is a unique item that drains all energy from the surrounding area into it for the user to use up to your post count. It is effectively like having a generator on the battle field, but limited.

Q. Why can't I buy the Mythic Weapons?
A. Because you suck! No in all seriousness, it is because those weapons are reminders of some of our favourite characters, you guys may not know them, but we do and we knew the people who used them rather well. They are weapons that need to be earnt, but there are other ways to get them.

Q. So what is the Dual Class Token?
A. So you noticed that did you? Damn, I was hoping of keeping it a secret. That token allows you to pick your original class as your secondary, while it may only seem to affect warriors, mages and alchemists, it is nifty in that it creates new possibilities in how the class system works.

Q. What do you mean you can steal a Mythic Weapon?
A. Mythic weapons can be stolen in combat, meaning you have to fight to get one. However, you can also trade the weapon between other people's characters, but all of this must be done IN CHARACTER, there are strict rules should you be stupid.

Q. How strict?
A. We've given Ezekiel all rights to be as nasty as he likes to you, as well as a nice little rule down below. So don't be stupid now.

Mythic Weapon Rule
Mythic weapons may be stolen by another player. The only way this can occur is if the person who owns the Mythic Weapon fights the person who is intending to steal the item and loses. If you are in a position where you are too injured to escape then you must forfeit your Mythic Weapon. You may reclaim this Mythic at any point through battle. Any player caught stealing a weapon without having gone through combat will lose all privileges toward legendary weapons of any kind. You may gift your Mythic Weapon to another person, but this must be done through RP and you must inform one Admin and another member of staff. Anyone found not doing this will lose their privileges along with the person they were gifting them to. You may only steal one Unique Legendary at any time. Person's found stealing more than one will lose any rights to legendaries.


Q. Can I have your babies?
A. Are you properly prepared to have mutation devil spawn? Are you prepared to change it, feed it, clean it, pet it, love it and scream in terror at it? Will you go the distance to become the best there ever was? To be the champ? Your a tomato Rocky!

Q. Can we bribe you for a mythic.
A. Hmm...I wonder how far you'll get before we unclip the leash....

My question on this is if you already have a legendary would it be possible to trade that Legendary in for a gold token so that you have a chance to use that token to get the newer legendaries which you didn't have a choice of before? of course this could only be done once and within a certain time period probably.

It was never expressly agreed upon in these exact words, but I believe that the intent was to open up the next week or two for token trade-ins. You can turn in your old weapons and items to get a chance at the new traits, weapons, and items.

If Ezekiel (and Dest, who is majoritively absent at the moment) don't have huge problems with that, it seems completely appropriate.

EDIT: READ THIS IF YOU HAVE CHARACTERS WITH EXISTING TRAITS

The general consensus among the elites and the staff that posted is that characters with traits pre-existing to the list that was released will be allowed to keep them at no cost.

That means any characters with wings, binocular eyesight, eternal life (undead, angels, or whatever else), dark vision, or that could breathe underwater (etc.) will get to keep those traits. New characters or characters that don't currently have those traits will have to purchase those things normally.

What I'll ask you to do if your character has a blood drinking, wing, unbreathing, etc. trait is that you PM an Admin (myself, Dest, or Ezekiel) to get it approved.

Because there will probably be more than a few petitions to get through, just one member checking it off is alright for our purposes. It should be pretty obvious if your character has wings or not when we take a look at your recent RP and profile. Please don't try to cheat the system and sneak in an extra trait (we'll be upset if you do and it could result in suspension or post count reduction as it would be under the guise of cheating).

If you make a new angel character, make sure you save up an extra token if you want it to have wings. If you want an undead, save for Eternal, Blood Drinker, or whatever else you might want it to have at its birth into DF.
