As she walked, she could feel Rowan’s presence closely behind her. He was never too far away, which was good. It comforted her to know he was so close. His soft footsteps tapped the ground behind her, and her own heels clicked along the path. She could feel his small hand tug on her scarf – it was enough to have Anameane notice he was there, but gentle enough to where it didn’t choke her or stop her in her tracks. She smiled gently to herself as she thought of him; an adopted brother in her eyes.
Her own behavior had shocked her at first. It wasn’t like Anameane to take people in. She often felt that having others around only slowed her down. But after meeting Rowan, she came to realize that those feelings were her own loneliness causing her to grow jaded. She had missed her family, but she would never admit it out loud. So when she met the small boy sitting by himself in the alleyway of an unknown street, it created a relationship she never expected would grow.
As they walked, she could feel Rowan tug on her scarf once more, this time requesting her attention. She stopped and turned, giving her attention to her small brother.
“Are we there yet? I’m getting scared...”
Anameane’s eyebrows rose for a moment, surprised by his statement. They hadn’t come across anything that could be considered threatening, at least not yet. She knelt down beside him then, her eyes searching his own for a moment while in silence. She then asked gently, “What’s scaring you?”
True, Ascantha was definitely not the place that Anameane wanted to spend a lot of time in. It was an intimidating place to be in, for sure. But what could be scaring him? If she had her way, they would be in the safety of the woods. There, you didn’t have to worry about people and closed in spaces. But the woods did have its own dangers, and she wasn’t confident in keeping track of Rowan while also being aware of their surroundings just yet. So, if he had to make a choice, it would be to spend more time in the cities.
Once more she asked gently, “What’s scaring you?”

Anameane smiled softly as she looked at the small boy. She took no pleasure in his fears, but she at times found his worries endearing. She gently rubbed her thumb across his cheeks, wiping away the tears that began to fall from his eyes. She smiled softly and said, “There is no reason to get upset, Rowan. We are going to be fine. It’s my job to protect you, okay? Nothing will happen to us.”
She wrapped her arms around his small body for a hug, but the embrace was quickly brought to an end once she heard a voice from behind them. It was something she was not expecting considering the abandoned terrain just moments before. She stood up quickly and whipped around, looking for the presence that belonged to the voice. Her hand shot to her dagger in its hilt instinctively, and she stepped in front of Rowan quickly.
However, realizing that there was no immediate danger, she relaxed somewhat as she looked to the stranger. Her hand never left her dagger, however.
If I need to reach for my bow, I need to make sure that Rowan is out of the way…
“We're fine," she said calmly but stern. She scooted back slightly to feel Rowan behind her, but to also to serve as a reassurance for the boy.
"Who are you?"

"There will be no need to keep your hand there young lady as if I had intended you harm it would have already befallen you. Also seeing as I have introduced myself will you do me the same honor?"
Anameane hesitated for a moment, studying the figure before her. She didn’t like not being able to see his full image. He hid himself away from the world, and that always made Anameane think that people who did that had something to hide. If he had secrets, who was to say that he wasn’t a killer looking for helpless victims, or a criminal who wanted to strong arm an accomplice? She would never allow for Rowan to be placed in that position. Just thinking of it made her angry, so she closed her eyes for a moment to take in a deep breath to calm herself.
“Anameane,” she said as she opened her eyes again, looking to the cloaked man, “My name is Anameane.”
Her eyes darted downwards, looking towards Rowan’s direction. She stepped to the side, but still remained in front of him and said, “This is my brother, Rowan.”
She stated Rowan’s name, figuring that the man called Alexander would end up asking for it anyways. Sensing that there was no danger at hand, she lowered her hand that sat on her dagger and waived for Rowan to come forward. She held it out for him, trying to send the message that he would be all right.

Anameane let her hand dangle as she waited for a response from Rowan. She didn’t notice him hiding his eyes due to her distraction with the man in front of them. Her eyes never left him, still feeling somewhat suspicious of the meeting. However, he seemed gentle and kind, at least at face value.
"It is a pleasure to meet the both of you Anameane, and Rowan. Now that introductions are out of the may I ask you another question?" The man paused for a moment before he continued with his question.
"What is it that brings two young ones such as yourselves out at this time of night in a city such as this? Should you not be at home somewhere warm or maybe camped for the night? Or is it that you have neither a home to go to or the means by which to camp in such an area?" His hand rose in the air and guided to the side gently, pointing out the cityscape around them. Anameane looked to the buildings for a moment before turning her attention back to Alexander.
“Inns are unnecessary. We can manage without them,” she spoke. “We prefer the seclusion of the woods. Not many people seem to live in the wild these days. I prefer it.”
She turned then, looking down her small brother. He stood, trembling with his hands covering his eyes. She smiled softly and knelt down beside him, placing her hands gently on his shoulders.
“Rowan,” she said as she tilted her head to the side. Her braids fell over her shoulders, her decorative metal diamonds jingling as they did so.
“Rowan?” She said once more.
But then she heard Alexander say something more. Something cryptic. His words were obviously not for them, but his statement certainly wasn’t a secret either considering he said it out loud. She looked to the man over her shoulder as she still held onto Rowan lightly.
“Hm? Who?” She asked.

"A person that is lost and will need help soon enough. Also I can understand the desire to avoid such places normally myself. Though in this area it may be safer if you were to stay in such a place at least for tonight.
“Why don't the two of you come with me to one of these fine establishments for tonight and I will make sure you have a room all to yourselves for the night? I will also make sure the both of you have a chance for a fine meal and a restful night’s privacy."
Anameane turned her attention back to Rowan and looked to him for a moment. She began to study him to see how he was handling the situation they were in. She knew that he was always hesitant around strangers, and this hesitation called for a lot of stress.
She was torn when making their decision. One side of her wanted to turn Alexander down on his offer. She wanted to keep Rowan and herself away from large gatherings of people. She was also weary of the man, and being in his care for the night had the potential to go badly.
However, on the other hand, Anameane wanted to make sure that Rowan would get a restful sleep. She was always worried for his well being in the woods. She knew she would be able to take care of herself, but when it came to Rowan’s comfort and safety, she was always unsure of herself. She was sure that a filling meal from the city would be appreciated as well.
“Rowan,” she said gently as she gave him her full attention, “I’ll leave this decision up to you. If you want us to camp out here for the night by ourselves, I would be more than happy to do that. But, if you want a nice bed to sleep in tonight, as well as a filling meal, we can go to one of the inns. I will be by your side the entire time, and never let you out of my sight. You and I will share a room together with no one else. Then, in the morning, we can continue on. What would you prefer?”

Ugh... It was a another boring day in harbor. I don't want to go into town.... Again. I am tired of this place. When are we finally setting sail again? Lucky Jack thought to himself while sitting on deck.
What should I do... What should I do? OH! I know, I will go bother The Captain again. I wonder where he is?
Jack decided to search around The Golden Line. He searched below deck, on deck, in the armory, in the cabin, and in the Captain's quarters, with no luck, which doesn't happen very often to Lucky Jack.
Exasperated, Jack leaned over the side of the ship and hung his head downward. A bright flash reflected against the water below. Jack looked up to see where the source of light was coming from. In the distance he spotted a band of people, a small boy, an attractive dark skinned young lady, and a cloaked man. In route to this group was The Captain.
"Oh Cap'n my Cap'n! Where fore arte thou going?!"

Alexander looked around at the surrounding area he was close to the ones that were strangely tugging at him yet he had promised his newest two traveling companions lodging. He saw the inn near by and motioned with an out stretched gauntleted hand. "Would the two of you like to lead the way inside or would you prefer to follow me?" His voice was still calming and friendly as he spoke. Even though he asked the question he made steps towards the inns door first. Just as he was about to reach out and open it the wood splintered and a limp body hit into the cloaked man's chest with a slightly sickening thud and then slid down to the ground at his feet. The man had not even wavered when the body his him and was almost like stone. The sound of rowdy thugs and a bar fight could then be heard pouring from the light filled splintered doorway. "I am sorry you two it looks like we will need to find another inn this one appears to be booked." As he said this he turned around so he was facing the two of them. As he motioned for them to move down the street towards another inn a rather large figure stepped through the shattered door and looked at the heap on the ground before looking at Alex's back. A hand shoot out and grabbed the cloaked man's shoulder before a gruff gravely voice spoke. "You what did you do to my friend here? Why is it he is lying here in a heap at your feet?" Not really waiting for a response the man raised his mammoth arm and went to bring his free hand down on top of the cloaked figures head..... ((OOC: thought I would spices things up a little bit though nothing to serious. ))

It took a moment for Anameane to adjust to her new surroundings. The sudden transport between locations sent her mind through a loop. They were before an inn, and Alexander stood before them silently for a moment before speaking to herself and Rowan. He offered for them to enter into the Inn in order to obtain the room they were promised, but before Anameane could take a step forward a limp body came flying through the door and straight into her host’s chest. Alexander watched as it fell to the floor; he never seemed to flinch when contact was made. Anameane’s eyes grew wide as she quickly stepped in front of her brother, shielding him from anything that might come next.
"I am sorry you two. It looks like we will need to find another inn; this one appears to be booked." Alexander said. As he turned to leave, another man came through the wreckage of the door and grabbed his shoulder. He asked what happened to his friend, his tone accusing Alexander of the attack. Anameane watched as the man raised his hand in the air to come down upon Alexander. This was a crucial moment to make a quick decision. She could reach for her bow, Aegis, and aim an arrow straight at the assailant’s head, or, she could quickly turn and run the other way with Rowan. The old Anameane would have done just that. She would have abandoned Alexander within an instant if it meant the safety and well being of herself. However, since meeting Rowan, she didn’t quite act in that manner anymore.
With quick reflexes she whipped the bow that sat on in its holster on her back, and a second later an arrow was in place and ready to fire. With strict, strong arms, she aimed the arrow right at the stranger’s head, her eyes narrowed and focused. Now was not the time for idle threats or playing around. One false move, the man would die by Anameane’s hand. There was too much to risk otherwise.
“Move and you’ll have my arrow in your head before you can even blink.” She growled.

Wide eyed with terror, Rowan watched as the events unfolded and ended with a dead man on the ground and his sister with an arrow at another person's head. This was it. This was why he was scared of strangers. They were all like this, all of them. He could not escape all of the people. They were all out to get him and hurt the people he loved.
Anameane was in front of him with her bow drawn and ready. She would protect him. She would protect him... Nobody else could. He took slow steps back away from the scene. Time seemed to move slowly and his body felt numb. He didn't know what to do. What could he do. His eyes began to turn a deep, cold blue.
He was too distracted to realize he was getting awfully close to the end of the dock. Then, his mind went blank. His body knew it had been grabbed from behind and his mind, his power reacted. The big man in front of the tavern suddenly became encased in a block of ice and an explosion of pure energy erupted from the boy's body, sending his would-be attacker into the water. The dock was cracked and beginning to crumble but as his power left him, all Rowan could do was cry.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lucian glanced over his shoulder to Lucky Jack who apparently was looking for some fun, too. He waved over his shoulder as he turned his attention back to the group. The situation had changed drastically in the few seconds he looked away. One man lay dead on the ground and another was at arrow point of a girl who seemed to be with a man who was about to get clobbered over the head. This wasn't good... Lucian's attention turned to the young boy. He was backing towards the edge of the dock!
He didn't really know what was going on with the other people but the boy needed to be stopped. The captain went into a full sprint towards the child and was there in seconds, grabbing the boy from behind to stop him from going any farther. A short wave of relief washed over him. Just before a strong, painful wave of energy washed him away off the dock and into the water.
Sailing through the air Lucian wondered. Why who I always end up in the water? Then a splash. It was painful. He was certainly going to feel that in the morning. Now really wasn't the time to sit around though. He kinda couldn't breath and kinda had the air knocked out of his lungs. So, he blinked a couple times, decided not to wonder what the big ominous shadows moving around in the water around him were and swam to the surface and toward a ladder to get back onto the dock.
He mumbled under his breath, "The people I'm trying to help hurt me more often than the enemies..."

Staring dumbfoundedly as the scene before Lucian and him unfolded, Jack saw a body fly out of the building right into the cloaked figure. Another figure then came out of the inn and confronted the cloaked man. All of a sudden, in a flurry of movement, the pretty young lady grasped her bow in one hand, and an arrow in another, and then proceeded to draw and point the arrow at the man that had just came out of the inn.
"That gal is feisty~ I'll havta remember not to mess with that one." Jack whispered to himself.
Just then, Jack saw the little boy back away towards the dock, and The Captain racing to him, in order to prevent the boy from falling into the ocean. When Lucian reached the boy, a wave of energy exploded out of the boys body. The man in front of the cloaked figure and the young lady was suddenly inside a giant ice cube.
Jack then returned his gaze back to the little boy, and was surprised to see his Captain flipping through the air, right above the water.
SPLASH! Lucian was in the water.
Quickly, Jack grabbed a rope, dashed down to the dock, tying the rope so that it had a loop around the end and threw the rope down to his young companion. As soon as the rope splashed around Lucian, the water began to churn dangerously and the shadows below began to take a more distinct form.
Jack pulled the rope as hard as he could, allowing it to wrap around Lucian by his midsection and tighten below the armpits.
"Hurry! Them sea beasties be raving for a human sized meal, if you know what I mean."
