"Ungh" Uttered the gargoyle as he plopped down on a stool at the front of the bar counter. From the moment he stepped in the thin crowd was silent. With in a few seconds that would pass and they would go back to their shady dealings and topical gossip. The bartender warily approached the hulking red monster and gave him a once over. Sneerning he asked the beast "What will it be?" Arremer took a minute to work a crick out of his neck before simply telling him to bring him a bottle of his strongest drink.
He was near exhaustion. He had been flying for nearly a full day, he was escaping a little mishap that occured the day before. He spent most of the first morning exploring Granada Island; which was where he first materialized on this plane. It was during his exploring he entered a messy duel with a would be hero out to make a name for himself by slaying a menacing demon he felt it was best to just get away from that island. It was late in the evening when he found this dive. He was glad to get some drink in him.
The barkeep appeared from the backroom, from which he disappeared to while the beast was reminiscing about his first few moments in Pangea. He sat down a wooden cup and a bottle of a omninous brew of purple hue. The kind with a Skull and Crossbones sign on it and had the smell that would burn out your nose hairs, Arremer knew instantly he'd love it. The first few shots felt like a knife to the eye with a twist of lime wrapped around the blade, it was heaven in a bottle!
The barkeep gave him a snooty look began to clean a glass. "Where ya from, stranger?" The man asked, not really caring to know the answer but he figured he might as well earn a tip by pretending to be genial with the demon. "Ah you know, Hellish Unspeakable Dimension number six." Arremer responded in a joking smart alec tone of voice. "Arrived here yesterday morning, as a matter of fact. Been flying ever since Granada Island..." The barkeep cut in with a "And boy are yourwings tired." For humans this joke was tired and old, but it was the first time Arremer had heard this expression. The nameless barkeep's attempt at making a joke was lost on him. "Why...yes, the winds were a bit harsh coming up from the seas...so yeah, I figured this would be a good spot for some rest."
There was an awkward pause and the barkeep simply wandered off to tend to the other customers. Under their breath they both muttered simultaneously "Strange Man.". Turning his attention back to his drink, Arremer turned around on his chair and gazed around the noisy tavern, hoping to find some conversation.
