Before the Great Lord Alucard appeared what could only be described as black lightning. The realm itself was split as a visitor from its Shadow stepped through the arcane tear he had created.
Lorinthor in hand, Dai Jo on his back, and Karakakash on his hip, one of the Shadow Aesir's Five made his debut in this world in a show of strength and ceremony, typical of an angel. The electricity collapsed in on itself as quickly as it had appeared, leaving only the form of the Servant in front of his Master.
His armor was a sight to see, as it's colors contrasted brilliantly, going from black to copper to gold, being thick in some places and thin in others. The tops of his wings were covered in a thin layer of what must have been steel, though the rest of the 15' wide appendages were bark blue and black. His ashy skin was contrasted by glowing blue eyes and white/blue runes that ran all over his skin. He stood about 2 inches shorter then his Master, though that did not make him short. His hair matched his wings, though reversed their color scheme by being mostly black, with dark blue highlights.
Silently, Jerrick took long strides towards his god, dropping to a knee no less then 12 feet away. Holding his staff out with his right arm, a reminder to both of them of his undying loyalty and the pledge of being that bound this angel to his deity.
"Lord Alucard." His voice was grand. It did not seem to be loud, yet it carried on and on through the halls of the keep.
"Your Servant has arrived, and would ask for your instruction."
He did not look up. He had not been commanded to. His eyes stayed unblinking on the floor beneath him. He was a being created for ceremony, servitude, and combat. He fulfilled his purpose well.
Why else would he be one of the Five?
But of course it was never for him. It was by the Grace of his Master that he made his every move. Every life he had taken was in service to furthering the Will of Lord Alucard. Every word he spoke brought Glory to his master. Every heartbeat resonated loyalty, and demanded it from the body, and all those around the angelic host.

A knock at the door awoke Gavin Strom from a rather sound sleep. Out of one bloodshot eye, he could make out the tiniest sliver of light shining through the window at the opposite end of the room. It was morning, alright, and every muscle in his body was still exacting revenge upon the alchemist. Every fiber of his physical being wanted to ignore the pounding noise and curl up back under the covers until mid-afternoon or so. His mind, however, took notice of the distance to the far wall as he remembered that he was not in his own bed but in a guest chamber at the governor's palace. Exhausted as he felt, he had enough sense to realize that anyone waking him at this hour had something important to say.
"Who is it? Be right there..."
Slowly and steadily, Gavin began the gradual, agonizing process of throwing back the curiously heavy covers and sheets, kicking his aching legs over the side of the bed, planting his feet on the throw rug, hoisting himself to his feet, and placing one foot in front of the other. He forewent the robe on the stand to his left and continued toward the door in only the rough linen undershirt and drawers he had been supplied upon his arrival. Fortunately, he had chosen to bathe and scrub himself thoroughly the night before, as he was in no mood for such activity this morning.
He now stood beside the door to his guest chamber. Gavin Strom placed one hand on the door handle and braced his opposite arm against the doorway arch. Just as he was about to pull the door open, his head rested itself against his forearm and he fell back to sleep.
Another knock startled him awake, where he was startled to recall that he was no longer in his bed. "Augh! Yes, coming... Almost there..." Pausing a few moments to gather his bearings, the alchemist slowly inched the door open. His eyes took a few seconds to adjust to the lighting in the hallway as he determined that Kiaus himself had summoned him. "Oh... G'mornin', governor. 'Scuse the appearance, but I just woke up." One arm reached around to scratch the back of his head. "What can I do for ya?"

"Thank you, my Lord."
Jerrick stood and held his staff to his side, folding up his wings close behind him as the seemed to shrink down into what would almost appear to be a cape.
"It would be an honor to assist you. This guest, is he a local follower? You were always a industrious person, easily procuring followers."
Jerrick took a few steps back and raised both his hands over his head, and as he did so all the liquid gold from his person and covering his weapons flew over his head. It began to form intricate scenes of battles and locations, morphing as the angel spoke.
"Your absence has emboldened a few small extremist groups that would seek to usurp your rule. They were weeded out quickly, however, and most of the population hadn't even heard of these organizations before your host raided and eradicated them."
The manipulation of the gold was punctuated with dark electricity that moved through the metal occasionally, sparking outward as the places and faces of these heretics were shown in the metal.
"Besides that, things have been quiet. But a servant can only go so long without instruction."
The gold flowed back down to the angel, coating his blades and wrapping around his arms again.
"I came because I sensed that you might have need of me, and it seems that by your grace, I was correct."
A shallow bow was offered to the Lord, before Jerrick stood and looked around.
"This place is nice, though it could use some security upgrades. And it will be good to see Kiaus, it's been a while."

"Your... lord?" Immediately, Gavin's mind began to conjure up fantastical, frightening images. After all, if Kiaus was capable of doing all the things he had done in the tunnels the day before - dissipating into shadows, traveling at high speeds while cloaked in darkness, laying waste to enormous beasts as though they were nothing at all - what could Kiaus' overlord be capable of? Probably conjuring fire and frost and lightning storms and all that. In any case he figured it best not to keep such a man waiting. "I'll only be a minute." The door between them closed.
Immediately the alchemist ran to the wash basin in his room and splashed some water on his face. Thankfully, his usual leather garb had been dusted and folded the night before and stacked neatly near the wash stand. He quickly but methodically began to replace one set of clothes for the other, one article at a time. Questions were flying through his mind. Should he say anything at all? If so, what? What would be asked of him? What would he be made to prove to this ominous individual he was being taken to meet? His heart was pounding and his mind was racing, but within a minute he was completely dressed in his work attire and ready to meet the lord. At least, as ready as an ordinary human could be for this sort of thing.
As he was headed back toward the door, Gavin passed the small mirror in front of the washbasin. The sight of his dried but somewhat disheveled hair reminded him that he was missing his skull cap. He retrieved the leather dressing from the floor nearby and tied it carefully at the base, then reached into a hidden pocket located inside his vest and retrieved a small sprig of dried mint. He placed the delicate but fragrant herb on his tongue, allowing himself a few seconds to savor the initial chill of freshness before he turned back toward the entrance of his guest quarters and greeted the governor once again.
"Ready as I'll ever get." The alchemist's eyes and smile were a little wider than usual, almost as if he were struggling to cope with his anxieties. "I'm guessing there's no need t' bring the hammer t' meet with his lordship, then?"

The angel had to ponder the existence of another divine being... As an angel, he saw one that would consider himself an equal to his Lord a heretic. This logical lapse was interesting to him, although he wouldn't give it too much thought. Alucard was the only true divine being in his mind, regardless of the odd relationships between the two realms.
"Believe me, faith has not wavered among the population or the military. We have made sure of it..."
Jerrick chuckled at his Lords defensive statements.
"I do not doubt you or Kiaus' strength. But when I look at structures from a security point of view, I examine how well an average soldier can defend the location in a full on assault situation. Then I look at the possible routes a lone assassin could take, mostly using my experience to do so. I can already see where most of the improvements have been made or at least started on, so Kiaus has done an excellent job as usual."
Jerrick moved to the left of his lord before facing the entrain, leaving the right for Kiaus when he returned. Lorinthor shortened a few feet to match the size of Dai-Jo, the sound of metal clicking accompanying the change as he put it at it's place on his back. His left hand now rested on the hilt of Karakakash.
"I'm looking forward to meeting this man, if Kiaus does indeed see him as worthy to stand before you."

Evangeline stood by the window of her room looking through the stained glass to study the skies. She missed home in some ways, missed seeing her men soar and dive in repetitive motions that told her they were ready for anything. Here there was a bustle with the building and the earth sat sadly scorched in places, she sighed heavily and flicked a hand to the door to swing it open for Natalia before she could knock.
There is much for us to do here, Lord Dalv considers this a strong hold. I do not. Find me men, women even children if you must I want a new unit. These humans likely cannot fly but there will be some with special gifts, find them and bring them to me. She didn't bother to turn but continued her study of the people below her. They are beneath you Lady, under you in all the ways. Strike at them now and watch them scurry like rats from a sinking ship. She rubbed at her forehead but didn't bother to respond to the voice that slid in and out of her consciousness.
Natalia stood for a moment, studying the slender form with the mass of red hair that she hadn't bothered to clip back. It was rare to see Eve look so distant, normally the woman was very focused but today it was like her mind was a million miles away. As you wish... Are you okay?
Eve shook her head but turned to smile wanly at Natalia All is well, I am simply trying to adapt to the new place. Go on now, find me what I need. When Natalia disappeared she considered her next steps. She could sulk in her room or hunt down her husband or she could simply wander. With a shake of her head she discarded the wandering idea, too much time was lost doing nothing.
A quick mental scan had her placing her husband and a few others in and around the throne room so she stepped down the stairs lightly planning to go and do as she had always done. Kiaus standing in the hall was little surprise, the man with him was a bit more of one. He looked nervous, anxious and a bit pale, his quick glance at the door told her what she needed to know. He was to meet her husband and was... Scared perhaps?
Feel his fear, feed it and it will fill your belly She smiled at the man and laid a hand gently on his shoulder. Fret not, he may be a God but he was once a man just as you are. She didn't wait for response but nodded to Kiaus and just before entering the room she paused again then swung to the kitchens instead of entering into the throne room.

((Al has given me permission to move the two to the throne room.))
Gavin was barely aware of the mysterious woman's presence until her hand brushed against his shoulder. She had the lightest, most delicate touch; and yet, something about it left his skin tingling unnaturally, almost as though some sort of energy were being transferred between them. Then again, maybe that was just his overactive imagination. But her words...
The alchemist's eyes remained transfixed on the slender redhead until the moment she disappeared. Once she was out of their sight, Gavin's eyes turned immediately back to the governor. "Kiaus, I think there's something you're not telling me, something that I need to know." The pair had continued their journey toward the throne room; the human's mood had gone from worried to terrified to irritated that his host had apparently decided not to inform him exactly who and what this lord of his was.
Upon reaching what was doubtless the door to the throne room, Gavin thought of stopping right there and refusing to go a step farther until Kiaus told him exactly what the hell was going on. He thought that, yes, but couldn't bring himself to actually do it. Whoever - or whatever - is on the other side of this door, you'll get through it fine. Hell, just yesterday you stared down a half dozen giant carnivorous rats; you can handle this.
Following the governor's lead, Gavin Strom stepped into the throne room...

It helped Gavin's state of mind greatly to see that the god among men he had so much anxiety and trepidation about was scarcely taller or larger than he was, albeit with a few more wings to make him a more imposing figure. He wasn't really sure what he had truly expected to see, but the fact that he was not being addressed by a fiery demon or a pulsating beacon of pure energy had assuaged his fears to the point where maintaining a neutral face was no longer a great challenge.
Gavin bowed respectfully to the Aesir lord when he entered and the two were introduced. He listened carefully to every word of his offer and weighed each one judiciously before replying.
"I'm assumin' then, Lord Dalv, that if I choose to join ya in this quest, there'll be a good deal of risk involved." His trepidation was beginning to well up once again. Two days ago he was an ordinary tunnel worker hoping to work his way up to foreman; now, he was standing before a demi-god being offered what might well be the opportunity of a lifetime.
A million questions were floating around in his mind. What would this quest entail? Would he be expected to kill something? Someone? What would they be up against? If he didn't make it back, what would happen to his family? And what about Cybil? At least when he was working in the city, he could take comfort in knowing she was only a day or two away. But if he would have to travel farther, say, out of Iridia entirely...
"Could y'lordship tell me more about this quest?"

((Sorry for the delay...))
After some deliberation, pacing, and staring out the nearest window he could find, Gavin Strom had made his decision. If nothin' else, do it for Cybil. Come back from a job like this, her old man might even cave in and let 'er go b'fore her sister...
"Governor Kiaus, you can tell your lord that he has my skills, such as they are, at his disposal. I'm only requestin' enough time to write a short letter home and that it'll be delivered b'fore I leave." He reached for his hammer with one hand, only then remembering that he had left it in the guest chamber. "And, uhh... obviously, I'll need t' get that back, too."
The alchemist was taking a hell of a chance on this venture, but how could any man in his position refuse a chance like the one he'd just been offered?

Jerrick smiled as he bowed slightly to Kiaus. "Thank you for the welcome, Kiaus. It is good to be here."
After waiting for the alchemist to finish his business and Kiaus to give him the destination, Jerrick moved between the two men, turning to look at the one named Gavin, sizing him up though not appearing hostile. The man wasn't a warrior, he was a laborer. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing; no bad habits and a good physical fitness level were two positives that came to mind.
"My name is Jerrick, angel of the Shadow Aesir. I'm also an alchemist."
His metal-coated wings exploded open, sending a strong gust of wind through the room. Sparks began to jump along his armor, and those in proximity to him would probably feel the static building up.
"Don't panic."
With that, black electricity cackled up from the ground and seemed to engulf all three of the men. Onlookers would have seen the blackness swallow them up and then disappear into the ceiling in a single Dark Bolt.
