Waffle Brownies3 oz. (3 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 cup butter or shortening, melted
3 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2-3/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
3/4 cup milk
powdered sugar, optional
1. Preheat waffle iron
2. Place the chocolate and butter/shortening in a small saucepan. Melt over low heat. Set aside to cool.
3. In a seperate bowl, beat the eggs and salt until light in color. Add the sugar and vanilla. Beat by hand to combine then fold in the cooled chocolate mixture.
4. Stir in the flour and nuts. Slowly add just enough milk to make a thick batter spoonable into the waffle grid.
5. Spoon a level 1/2 cup waffle batter onto preheated waffle grid. Close the lid and bake until waffle is done.
6. Remove waffle and serve immediately. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
