| Forklift booked for doing 119km/h NEWS.com.au January 14, 2009 05:53am A FORKLIFT has been booked for speeding at 119km/h on a New Zealand highway. The machine, owned by business Lindsay Carrying in Invercargill, has a top speed of just 19km/h and has never been more than a "block and a half" from the depot. But police issued a speeding notice asking the company to name its driver after it was supposedly clocked on State Highway 1 at Waikanae. Assistant manager Shelley Kempton told the Southland Times: "I knew that registration number so I went out and walked around all the vehicles." "Then I realised ... I nearly wet myself laughing. "It would have been a very cold trip to Waikanae on that." Police told the Southland Times the speeding notice could be disregarded. "That's sweet. It (the speeding vehicle) was a Toyota," Constable Robin Luijk said. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,24910947-23109,00.html |
