For some reason, I really don't know. What is she like normally? In Triste she's all scared, but the doll is all stuck up.
My theory? She used to act like the doll, but hiding in Triste changed her. I don't like how people keep hating on her. D= -------------------- |

Neither do I, honestly she's my favorite character. Next being either Linda or KT.
... Which is kind of odd since I'm not hetero or peverted and I'm a guy. The following is just my opinion. Everyone is themself personality wise. A clone would not have the exact same personality as the original no matter what. You are yourself. The only life the doll ever had was a spoiled one where she was treated like, if not better then, a princess. The worlds inhabitants where her playthings like they where originally created to be. The real Marlene... well not much has been said about her. But I believe she's Ari's soulmate and true love. -------------------- The cleanest conscious is most certainly a dead one.

I'm a little suspicious, the idea of a perfect person for someone who they never fight with and it's all hugs an' kisses an' such just makes me roll my eyes. The second marriages of each of my parents have done much better, and they argue plenty. I just think reality is more interesting than fantasy.
While the doll Marlene is a twist on the archetype of the spoiled princess, somehow I think there is enough of Marlene in the doll for Beiloune to have kept lying to himself. -------------------- "It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it." - Oscar Wilde

Okay, true, Marlene and Ari aren't gonna have the perfect life.
But still. I think people treat Marlene badly unfairly, the real Marlene probably isn't that bad. -------------------- |

Boogie, your opinion completely contradicts mine. But no offense of course. Actually your opinion is closer to reality and kind of... dark. You can fight with someone and they could still be your true love. As long as its not a physical fight or abuse... I'm not saying its all hugs and kisses either, an honestly good relationship doesn't need that kind of thing 24/7. Reality... Better then fantasy? You just crushed everything for me in one fell swoop. Its not plausible to say that anyone, even an empty doll that is classified as Marlene with the strongest classification possible, will be the same as Marlene. The main problem is that classifying someone as a person doesn't work. In the whole rest of the game have you ever seen that happen? Its not as effective because a personality is beyond title or status and can not be influenced directly by classification. Sorry, I'm really passionate about issues that deal with personality and who you are. -------------------- The cleanest conscious is most certainly a dead one.

I liked Marlene's oppressive nature, and how she struck fear into the hearts of everyone she talked to~
Oh, and the real Marlene was cute and closest to my IRL personality~ -------------------- _____________________________________________________***********************************************

So this forum isn't full of Marlene bashers? Yayz! XD
I really think she and Ari are right for each other, especially after the end-game scene. A lot of idiots look at Marlene like she acts the same as the doll, but after watching the real one speak, even just a few words, the difference is obvious. -------------------- |

She didn't speak... did she? I don't remember that.

I'm pretty sure she was as silent as Ari.

Crap I'm not sure, but I need to go beat the game again. *looks at Playstation 2* Maybe later. XD Beiloune wasn't exactly fun to do.
But I really did think she said something to Ari's mom! Like... Ari's Mother:...I have to cook for almost the whole town today! Marlene:...Do you want any help? Ari's Mother: Oh? Do you know how to cook? Marlene: Can...you teach me? Or something like that. -------------------- |

She also made a few statements when Ari visited Triste a couple times.
I'd like to make this clear: I don't despise Marlene, I just think she's funnier as a bitch -------------------- "It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it." - Oscar Wilde

Not really, while most fans of the game hate Marlene, they usually forget that the doll marlene is different from the actual one, also theres a unsaid rule here about character bashing, cuz we aren't trolls who said crap like "OMG, You like Marlene, she's a bitch, how you like her, loser." LOL at Boogie's Comment *highfives* -------------------- |

Um...this might be off topic. But could someone make like a guide or list for the compatibility quests? I've been trying to get Marlene, but I seem to be having some trouble with it. If anyone could do this...I would be very very grateful.

Check... nevermind, I don't think I had a proper thread for it. Here's what I had jotted down oh so long ago:
Who Loves You, Baby? This isn’t a quest exactly, but how you talk to folks over the course of the game gives you the chance to access one of six events tied to a specific character. Furthermore, you acquire some sort of bonus upon completing the event. The event is accessible in Chapter 5 after meeting “the man behind the curtain.” Ari’s Dad: Be upbeat and optimistic. Julia: Choose “…” a lot, be wishy washy, and act you’re the world’s floor mat. Marlene: Favor Princess Marlene. Mysterious Woman: Be perverse and a smart @ss, and don’t favor any character in particular. Rosalyn: It helps to hate on Stan, but it matters more to show some sympathy for Rosalyn. Warning: Due to her social circumstances, that woman is starved for affection! Once you’re in her good graces, it’s pretty hard to fall out of favor with her, which can be a problem if this isn’t the event you wanted to get. Stan: Hate on Rosalyn, be evil, favor Stan and stroke his ego. -------------------- "It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it." - Oscar Wilde
