If you wander around some of the maps outside the towns, you can find treasure chests that look like they've been broken open, and they have bones and stuff around them, but if you look in them you can still find stuff.

I found two, and they gave me a Cool Vest, and some kind of Mascara. Anyone know what they do, or if they're used for anything?

That's for the Miss Madril Quest (AKA: Operation: P.I.M.P.) There is a Man in Love with Miss Madril in Rashelo, in the hut between the store and the inn. He's going to require several items till he is confident that he can woo her. There's an open box behind some plants in the circus that has the item Cholestoral. Show Stan to the bratty kid in the resturant to bet the Crystal Lenses. I think the Chic Suspenders and Punk Wig are found in an open box, too. You've found a couple dummy items to throw you off. After you give him all the items, talk to the owner of the resturant and ask him for advice on talking to girls. Pass it along to the Man in Love with Miss Madril, then go to Miss Madril's house which is next to Robert's house.
