Title: The Sequel Nobody Asked For
Boogie Knight - November 9, 2011 06:47 PM (GMT)
"Why, God, why?!" This is what I said when I saw one trailer which I thought was for a sequel to 300, but turned out to be Meet the Spartans faking out the audience. Even factoring how little history really mattered the first time around, I am appalled at the idea of making a sequel. The choice of protagonist is... stupid. Xerxes was depicted as a malignant narcissist, even by Tony Soprano standards he's a bad guy. It's all for the money, and I'm a little afraid that it might actually do well.

Haha, but what do you expect, Boog? That's the media for ya!

I'm sorry but I thought 300 was BOOOOORING!

I like how one of the few times I've Our Glorious Leader in the forums, they are telling us how boring they find a movie, haha :D
ANYHOO I'm not exactly excited for a sequel, either, and I probably won't go to see it. I liked the first one, I just don't know why they would want to make another, aside from the money.

...I want to see Muppets...

In fairness the sense of spectacle fades after a couple viewing.
I think the cynical bid for more money is pretty obvious to everyone and for many of them it is extremely off-putting.
Hehe, I curious about seeing the Muppets as well, I'm just worried about it trying to get too contemporary instead of just being plain funny.

I must be honest. The Muppets movie does not interest me in the slightest.
I enjoyed 300, though I was mildy peeved by unnecessary nudity in a certain scene of the movie. I love nudity, don't get me wrong, but to me it felt like it was out of place and simply trying to hard with that scene.
Also, Syndikaite, The link was for Meet The Spartans I believe, not an actual sequel to 300. Also, of course the use of Xerxes as protagonist is stupid. It's one of those 'Scary Movie' and 'Date Movie' parody films. I can't recall whether I've seen it or not, but I wouldn't expect much out of it all the same.
