Hey I was brainstorming over a major site wide plot

then It came to me, Someone summons the dark powers and causes a meteor shower in Arkham and perhaps one of them unleashes a sentient alien virus that infect people like the body snatchers

this way everyone could come together and say where they were when the meteor shower began...

were they on there way to work?

were they in class?

Perhaps they were practicing in the university pool and one landed in the pool itself missing them by and inch... who knows?

A board-wide plot sounds like just the thing! But if we're talking meteors and aliens, why don't we just redo a rehash of the Colour Out of Space, but with a twist? Like, COS the Sequel. That way it would be more faithful to Lovecraft's work.

I see that we already have a Blasted Heath forum, so what if a company builds the Miskatonic reservoir over the Gardner's farm, and the water from the well seeps in the residents' water supply? As people get drink more of the water, they begin to mutate, go mad, or start glowing in the dark.

Then, as Alice says, we can arrange who can get infected by drinking the tainted water. Not everyone, obviously, we need to spare some characters to develop a cure eventually.

Man, we need a Francis Morgan or at least an NPC or something.

I like the idea of keepin' it Lovecraft-y.

I'm game for this, but let's see what the others also think.

I haven't read Color yet. What happens when you become infected? And it is only contagious to humans?

No, based on the story, everything the colors touch can be infected, including plants and animals. At first, the crops are healthy and abundant, but the fruit is inedible and soon turns brittle before dying. The cattle on the other hand start to mutate in weird, unspeakable ways, and their meat is also inedible.

In other words, the color trains the life out of you until you literally shrivel up and turn into a husk. And yeah, as Carla said, people who are inflected slowly descend into madness before it happens. And they slightly glow in the dark. They don't get infected immediately, the Gardner family were exposed to it after continually drinking water from a well near where the meteorite (which had the colors inside) landed.

In the story there was no cure, but assuming the colors are some sort of alien mutagen, we can have a Morgan Francia NPC cook something up to battle the disease.

This sounds very cool! I'd prefer not to kill off Wilbur (saving that for later) but I can't wait to play this out if it ever gets planned properly.

Can't we still do this? We are in dire need of a board-wide thread to liven things up around here. This plot has my vote. How about everyone else? Other ideas?

(Oh, Kami! Clarence's violin will come in handy with the mad, infected masses, don't you think?)

I'm down with this. GG, d'you think we can have an announcement up in the Crier or something?

As to who gets infected:
Eunice - infected
Hill - not infected
Willett - not infected

Eunice keeps getting herself into trouble and falling into manholes and shit, but I think we would need as many adults up and about the solve Teh Mystery!

Sounds good to me! I volunteer Marya to get infected.

ETA: I kid, I kid. I volunteer Dolores instead.

Mhahaha. I am looking forward to the awkward trying-to-keep-his-cool, why-does-this-always-happen-to-me feels Clarence will have under such circumstances.

That is to say: I'm totally down with this.

Hello!

I'm not sure what the future plans are for this plot, but I went ahead and contributed a Scooby Doo-type thread where Henri (and more characters I hope) tries to figure out the source of the sickness and hopefully stop it. I hope this is okay. I can erase it if someone else's character is supposed to do something similar.

Thank you!

Hey Merricat! No, I don't think we really reached the part where we decided how we were going to wrap up the plot, so I'm all for Henri & Titus trying to solve the mystery and all that. Already replied to your thread as George Birch. biggrin.gif

Hill has a thread for patients with physical symptoms, I thought Willett should have one for the mental effects of the illness too. It's open to ev'rybody, so have at it!
