To Join

First step: Use character’s name as the user name eg; ‘James Potter’.

Second: create a character profile and history. The template can be found in the introduction character thread.

Third: You must have your profile okay’d by a Staff member before you post it

Fourth: Post a profile of your character in the characters board,

Then post in the RPG, remember to stay in areas where your character is allowed.
Any queries, feel free to ask an admin or mod.

Characters

• When joining this board please keep in mind that this is set in the Marauders period at school, so no Harry’s or Hermionie’s please.

• If you want to use a Cannon Character make sure it isn’t taken in the cannon character list first.

• When creating a original character please keep in character and this universe, we are sticking to book so people who give themselves extra power over other characters will not be tolerated eg, half-dragon, half daemon, telepathy, vampires etc.

• When posting, keep in character. Your character should have a stable personality; this includes control over magic etc. Acting out of character like cursing a teacher will result in punishment, or being disrespectful to older students. Also, anyone with abnormal, beyond their age, control over magic, will not be tolerated.

• When creating a character history. We understand people want to make their character individual and special, however, doing so to detriment of gameplay won’t be tolerated. Creating fanciful backgrounds, full of magical creatures, time travel, the mass murder of your family, tortured past, is unacceptable. We’re not saying that it couldn’t happen, only that it was unlikely to happen. This is Hogwarts school, wer’e all playing school children. It is much more rewarding to explore our characters within the gameplay then to make them exceptional.

• Keep to your character's age: eg, first years shouldn't be buying Firewhiskey, or going to Hogsmede.

• Also canon characters need to be active. This is only fair on people who may want to RP a canon character and also most canon characters have other characters dependent on them. If a cannon character is inactive for a log period of time the role will be redistributed.


Language and Posts

• Do try to post in third person eg, include you character's name ie: 'Jane walked into the potions class', rather than 'I walked into the potions class.' Also post in past tense ie: 'Fred sat down' not 'Fred sits down' this will make it much easier for the RPG to flow.

• Use "[text]" when speaking and '[text]' or italics when thinking. This is to make it clear what your character is actually saying out loud so anyone else knows what their character can respond to.

• Use correct English, please refrain from slang terms/net speak in main text. Slang/accents maybe used in characters' speech if appropriate for your character.

• Check spelling and typing as best you can. We don’t expect it to be perfect as we aren’t ourselves but appreciate every effort. If you notice a mistake after you post please go back and edit it.

• If your character speaks another language, don't write in it, simply put the sentence in italics, and then aftwards specify what language eg "this is bad," Joe Bloggs said in Russian.


Godmodling
Do not control other people's characters. If you ask another character a question you have to wait for them to answer. God moding (GMing) is only allowed if you have the other person's permission.

Random Rules

• Swearing and explicit scenes are to be kept to a minimum. Due to Plot events, the rating has gone up from PG to MA. If your post contains explicit content. Please draw attention to this in the title.

• You are allowed to have a 2nd character as long as that person isn’t wanted by someone else. Simply sign up a second account and IM a Admin to let them know.


• Board moderators and administrators have the right to delete posts if they contain unsuitable content.
