Diedre had fallen asleep on her pile of papers for marking.
Her ancient Runes class this morning hadn’t gone to badly but she was still tired from the weekend. She hadn’t got any sleep after the Ball, with all the heads of Houses required to be wandering the halls to make sure that all the students had managed to get back to their dorms in one piece.
She’d heard the whisper that something was a miss with the students and that there were fights beginning to spring up but she figured she’d deal with that after she’d finished marking the stupid exam papers.
Which was when she’d fallen asleep.
It was only late afternoon, but a little shut eye wouldn’t go amiss, especially if she had to be marking these papers until all hours of the day and night to return to the students on Thursday. She hated mid-term exams. Most of all, s he hated that she was the one writing and marking them.
There was a noise in the corner of the room as a painting appeared and yelled out that there were fights in the west wing and 3rd level corridors. She gave a sigh, and cracked one eye open. No one else was about, with Horace leaving about half an hour ago. She sat up and straightened the wrinkles in her gown. She might as well give the exams a pass and go and see what all the fuss was about.
She straightened her hat and then the young bookish professor headed off in the direction of trouble.
