Cormac hated Parallel Universe, but he liked the events they hosted, if that made sense. The music was generally too loud and he didn't meet many people he liked there, but tonight was an event sponsored by Jack Daniels. Gentleman Jack's Birthday, or something like that. It was better than the shitty Bacardi events he was normally invited to, and there might be Jack girls working the event. He decided to risk any annoyance and take a trip down there.
He ditched the friend he'd come with almost immediately, and headed to the bar, squeezing between bodies and finding himself a seat. The female bartender asked what he'd take. "A Dirty Blonde." He requested, handing over his card. "Open a tab."
As she went to fill the drink order, he turned to the woman next to him. "You look a little dry. Can I buy you something?" He offered, grinning.

Ivy needed a night out. After all the trips back and forth from Ashwick to LA, she needed a break. Lucky that Zayne was free to take Aneesa, she took this opportunity to go out and have herself a few drinks. Not much of a fan of the club scene, she decided to check out Parallel Universe. It was a bit better than Sin City, but not by much. She would live.
Raking her fingers through her hair, her eyes wandering the crowd. Nothing caught her interest, bringing her attention back to the bar. Slightly crowded, she didn't like this many people in her space, but this was her choice to show up here.
She looked up, hearing a voice, and it was directed to her. She gave him a smile, noticing that she didn't have anything in front of her. "I'll take that offer."

The girl looked up at him, and replied that she'd take the offer for a drink. He couldn't tell what she'd had, but hopefully the bartender knew what she'd been drinking. "A refill for the lady?" He asked them over the music, as the bartender handed him his Dirty Blonde.
He took a big gulp of his drink, and turned to the girl again. "I'm Cormac." He introduced himself. "You are...?"

She smiled as she got another drink placed in front of her. She raised her glass to the man next to her. "Thanks." She took a drink of her vodka tonic. Licking her lips, she looked around, twirling the straw around in her glass. She was used to guys buying her drinks, but she never gave them what they wanted. They would be mad at the end of the night, but she would be good by the end of the night.
She looked up at him, giving him another smile. "Ivy."

He twisted the Dirty Blonde on the bartop, watching the two colors start to swirl together. The lighter Stella was hanging over the darker Guinness in the glass. Not the most smooth drink, but it suited him. He took a gulp of his own as the girl introduced herself as Ivy.
"Ivy." He repeated. Pretty. "You come here with friends?" He asked. He couldn't see anyone around her at the moment that spoke to her having a gaggle of friends out with her, but you never knew.

She brought the straw to her lips, taking another drink from her glass. She smiled, hearing him repeat her name. It wasn't a common name. It was unique in its own way, and she loved it. Looking up at him, she shook her head no. "It's just me on my own." She really didn't have that many friends here in Ashwick. It was just her and her daughter. The only person she was starting to get to know again was her daughter's father. Hopefully, she was making a new friend tonight.

He nodded while she spoke, saying that she was alone. All the more power to her - it certainly made getting to know her that much easier without the added distractions of a giant group of people around here.
"I was with someone, but we got separated. I don't know, he's a big boy, I think he can find his way home." He joked, grinning at the girl. "You from around here?"

She smirked, taking a drink from her glass. She nodded, before looking over at him. "new york. born and raised." she looked over, hearing a slight accent coming from him. "but i'm sensing that you're not from these parts." licking her lips, her eyes on him.
It wasn't that bad looking. He was pretty attractive. She didn't discriminate. As long as they could handle her, then she was going to be cool with you.

"New York. Been there a grand total of about one time." She must have picked up that he didn't sound Californian - most people generally did. But he didn't mind. He was as his God made him, after all. "I'm from Ireland." He remarked. "By way of Boston, though. I lived there for a few years, then came out here. What brings you out this way?"
She was something. Kind of overtly sexual, the way she licked her lips - but then again, everything seemed to have a sexual connotation with him. Still, he was interested in keeping the conversation going. Worst came to worst, they'd finish drinks and part ways.

She nodded, listening to him speak. Letting him know that he has her attention. "Ireland?" She smiled. That was something that she didn't hear all the time. It just made her wondered, what would bring him all the way out here or the states for that matter. "I've always wanted to go and finally got a chance. I loved it. Why would anyone would want to move away from there?" She questioned with a chuckle.
Chewing on her lip, she heard his question. What was her reason? "My daughter…Her father lives out here." She didn't want to lie. Might as well tell the truth, there's nothing worse about lying, especially if a kid is involve.

"Yeah, Limerick, Ireland." He replied, sipping at his drink as she spoke again. Said she'd been to the country, and she liked it there. She asked rhetorically why anyone would want to move away from there. "Eh, my family was all leaving? I was like nineteen at the time, and there was more work in the States. So I figured I'd just choose to follow them." He admitted. He hadn't wanted to lose sight of his siblings growing up.
"I see." He said, picking up a coaster and bending it in two, playing with it as he spoke. "How old's your girl?" He asked, curious. He really didn't care that she had a kid - it certainly wasn't going to scare him away from some friendly banter and a few drinks.

She waved her hand around. Yeah, the land of the free, but this place was more fucked up then other places around the world. But she would rather live here then a third world country. So she shouldn't really be complaining.
"Mhm." She muttered. She knew she probably just fucked this up. Her with a kid and guy is gone with smoke behind him. Surprised, she gave him a small smile. "She's five." He was the first guy besides Aneesa's father that she ran off because she was a mother. This night was starting to look up for her.

"Five's a good age." He said, nodding. "I grew up with nine siblings, and five of them are girls. Five's like, when they're still cute as hell, but they're starting to get like... smart alecky, and sassy." It took more than the prospect of a kid to scare Cormac off - many if not most of the women he encountered in his age group had kids and an ex behind them, and even though Ivy looked quite a bit younger than him, he didn't think it was odd or terrifying that she'd have a kid. Such was life.
"What's her name?" He asked, curious. For someone who was by all appearances interested in pretty girls and shiny objects, Cormac had an ability to be interested in what people genuinely had to say.

Ivy was amazed by the siblings that the guy had next to her. That was just way too many. Ivy was the oldest of 3 and she felt that that was enough. It was pretty sad that she couldn't even remember their birthdays. She always had to have a reminder of when to call and not to forget. "Big family." She stated, giving him a smile.
"Aneesa." She smiled, thinking of her little one at the moment. Who happened to be with her father right now. Licking her lips, she ran her fingers through her hair. "My pride and joy. I had her at a young age, but she changed my life around. If I didn't have her, I really feel like I wouldn't have done anything with my life." She spoke with a chuckle.

"Huge family." He agreed. She told him her girl's name, and explained how she felt like Aneesa had turned her life around. "Pretty name." He commented, nodding slowly. It was nice to hear that having her daughter had turned her life around. Everyone's journey was different.
"That's great, then." He agreed. Nice that she hadn't let it be a negative part of her life. He would have been completely turned off if Ivy had complained about her daughter being annoying, or something. "What do you do for work? Are you a student?" She looked young enough where she very well could have been, and he wasn't one to judge.
