how to breathe is a character driven site, so we don't really have traditional canons. however, there are a few types of characters that we'd like members to clear with us before making. they're listed below, and once the position is taken there can only be one! so please be sure to check.
we're pretty easy going with the canon's. their details are not set in stone because we'd like to give you as much creative license as we can. personality and general history are up to you unless stated otherwise. if there is anything you would like to edit, please check with an admin before making them.
this goes for forums, as well. for example if you wish to play "big al" from big al's bowling alley or the owner of mccleod's, please speak to an admin so we can iron out the details together.
if you do take up a canon, you are promising to be active. these characters are likely to be heavily involved with the site wide plots.
we allow reservations. just to be fair and give everyone a chance to finish their application, reservations only last for two days and once those two days are up, anyone else can claim them after. so remember, two days!
the mayor
the mayor of ashwick has the hardest job. budget cuts are ripping the city apart, while the mayor does with whatever he has to make sure that residents are happy, healthy, and most importantly, safe. the mayor isn't a stranger to scandal, and his personal life is a matter of public record.
there are currently two candidates running for mayor. please speak to an admin if you wish to participate!

lincoln h.s. principal

marlene sheridan's bio
here. please speak to shayne if you would like to be involved in the administration at lincoln high school. this includes assistant principal, secretaries, the dean, etc.
various local media
this section is purposely nonspecific. "local media" consists of the radio station (
radio ashwick), local television programs, the local press, promotions, and so on. please specify which job you would be taking i.e. reporter, interviewer, and newscaster.
please note that radio ashwick is run mainly by caseyy, and the local television program good morning, ashwick valley! is run mainly by tay. please speak to them if you're interested in either of those.
also keep in mind that famous characters are temporarily banned. ashwick is still classified as a small town, so we cannot be teeming with filthy rich, world reknowned celebrities. local celebrities are more than welcome, i.e. a lovable weatherman or an advice columnist for the newspaper.
